  1. I kind of hope that Assombolonga starts. He was awful in the away fixture. If our fans can get behind him he could prove to be really valuable to us in the remaining games.
  2. I am still completely uncertain. It looks tricky, based on our form against the top sides. But being able to take points of our direct rivals should surely be some kind of motivational boost? Last 6 games. 1 against our former manager (who is much loved by many, not so much by others) 4 genuine 6 pointers (in theory) Final game against a team saying goodbye to a (relatively) long serving manager. Just no nothing games (yet). Which is surely what we want for the season finale. Then the 3 extra games as we head to the promised land...
  3. Just been looking through the fixtures and the table. Our run in is mad. 6 games left and we play the team directly above us, and the 3 directly below. 6 pointers all round! You couldn’t script it. Do people see our run in as tough? Or as a blessing that it is in our own hands to take points off direct rivals?
  4. Good post even if it is the longest paragraph I've ever read :) Agreed. And agreed.
  5. Reminds me of so many of our games :liar: That was some hit for their second goal :) It was indeed! I have always like OxChamberlain. But he seemed to have gone stale at ***nal. Hopefully will be good for England to see him continue to improve at Liverpool. And yes. If Liverpool were wearing white shorts I would have sworn it was Boro. :D
  6. Enjoying the Liverpool V Man City game. Fair play to Liverpool so far!
  7. I hope he turns out to be great, but Harrison seems to have gone up in people’s estimations by not playing. I guess you that is not uncommon if the team aren’t on a good run of results. Fingers crossed he shows some of that potential. One day. I think that's a little unfair. Harrison looked very lively on Monday. He didn't exactly force his way into the team, but he certainly didn't do his chances any harm, and definitely looked more dangerous than Downing had for 75 minutes. Oh I am not saying he is not good. But I think a lot of fans want to see him ahead of Downing because Dow
  8. lol that's been our tactic every single game since Pulis got here. That is totally unfair. For the first few games it was Gestede!

  10. I agree with every word of this. Well said that man.
  11. Blimey mate, is everything ok with you? You get more negative with each passing day. I agree with this. We are worried about you BD! You seem to have been under a cloud for a while. You need to let some sunshine into your life. Everything isn’t all that bad you know. :)
  12. I have been saying for a few years he is better than Messi. I know not many agree, but he so much more to his game. He has done it in two leagues. He is stronger, faster, better in the air, as skilful, about as good a finisher. That goal tonight was outstanding. I know others have scored similar but at this stage of the CL. Against such a good side. And for your 119th European goal. To have the whole of the stadium applauding you. That is special. I couldn't disagree more. Ronaldo for the last 2-3 years has become a glorified goal poacher, actually sacrificing aspects of his game to t

  14. A part-time advisory role, perhaps. Director of Football, definitely not. The biggest reason he won't be here beyond the end of his contract is the distance factor, any kind of role that would require his presence at the club on a permanent basis is not going to happen (not to mention the fact Pulis has publicly declared his dislike for the Director of Football role). So whatever connection he maintains with Gibson beyond this contract would have to be something he could do mostly from afar and without undermining the manager. Yes, maybe DoF is not quite the correct title. But some kind
  15. I do wonder - if all this talk of Pulis being brought in to ‘fix’ the club behind the scenes is true - whether Gibson would consider keeping him on, or appointing a similar stature figure, as a director of football? If we have been run so badly as club, then surely having a ‘football man’ overseeing things would be a step forward? For what’s it worth I am not, in theory, in favour of a DoF, but it seems like that is what people are saying Pulis has been brought in to do (alongside coaching, and picking, the team). In comparison to Monk anyway
  16. I am not saying Messi isn’t brilliant. He is. And I appreciate him as a footballer. Sorry if bringing him into it blurred the issue, maybe I should have just said that I think Ronaldo is the best player in the world. And has been for a while.

  18. Ah it's the Easter holidays isn't it :) My response wasn't emotional. I was puzzled why you'd dismiss some fairly basic facts as it seemed you were doing when I hadn't put forward any conclusions. I'm well aware that people can make any point with statistics, however football is based on results so unfortunately we have to take them into account. It seems like a solid way of making a direct comparison between the two managers. You're correct that a team can't ascend the league simply on the basis of other teams losing and I hadn't suggested that was the case. I simply pointed out t
  19. How was it it the right thing to do or rather how can we definitively say that it was? If we've moved up because other teams have moved down rather than because we have improved then we would have moved up anyway all things being equal. The simple fact is that our results are essentially the same as they were under Monk so there has been no improvement. It's not lies, damn lies and statistics, it's just our results! It'd be like saying if we missed out on the play offs that it didn't really matter because of all these other factors. I might be being old fashioned here or perhaps I'm missi
