That's handy because the only thing Gibson will be spending that money on is another house 🤬

Another bloody spa, he's like Captain Tom's daughter but less likeable

    I completely agree.

He's a completely different player to Rogers though so shouldn't be compared imo.

We don't have to replace like for like

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want a striker when both of our first team strikers are injured and a striker has been one of our main targets for the last two windows now.

Completely understand that we can’t just sign anyone who plays the position, but it really shouldn’t take two windows and soon to be three to strengthen a position.

We bought a striker in the summer

The way Scott spoke pre window did expect alot more permant signings

What did he actually say? because I can't say I expected a whole host of signings. 3 is a solid amount for a Jan window

There is a whole world of football outside England. We signed a player from Italy who played in Switzerland. We should have plenty of targets that has been scouted.

That just makes it even more unlikely that they will click in a winter transfer window though, look at how long its taken for many of our summer signings to bed in. There is a reason why winter signings are usually domestic signings

Nobody is saying we should panic buy. But with the right planning we shouldn’t have to panic buy. It’s been clear for six months that we need a striker. It’s really no surprise.

That doesnt mean one of the right calibre becomes available in this window though, especially if any signings are made with the long term in mind. I still think we should get someone in but I cant imagine its an easy deal at this time of the year, especially as there doesnt even seem many options from the Prem

  7. I think Rogers will stay, thats what all the mood music suggests and I dont think we will get a striker in because there simply havent been any solid links.

Even the suggestions on this board have been fairly uninspiring, for example Idah is leaving Norwich for a reason. Delap has the same amount of goals as Azaz, Stansfield has one more, by getting in a loan or permament of those calibres of players thats not going to propel us anywhere really. You can see why we are holding out for a specific level of player and if not, most of the top scorers in the league this season are attacking midfielders anyway

There is no point signing anyone for the sake of it, if the club haven't found the right investment then it's fair.

A striker isnt a cheat code, especially just any old striker. We risk making a signing just to make the window exciting

  9. I can understand why there isnt a desperation for a striker in this window, as the reality is you are more likely to get someone who takes time to bed in rather than another Archer

How do they have the cheek to ask for more than what they bought him for considering he has been a flop for them? 😂

He's not been a flop though, he's scored when he's played he's just struggled to get consistent games with Brobbey and Bergwijn playing well

Strange one for me like unless Carrick doesn't rate Engel/Bangura out for the season

Potentially he doesn't rate Engel that much either or we want to play more with wing backs

If Wilder has any influence on transfers, I can't see him agreeing to loan Archer to us.

There would be many takers in the Championship.

No way the club let's him loan Archer out, he's staying to the summer at least

he's owned by sheff utd archer so that can't happen, they do have a buy back if sheff utd go down that sheff utd can force

Sheffield United don't have to force it, if they go down they have to sign him

Guess we may be prepared to wait until summer if we can't get the right player in, at the right price now.

I think our days of short term thinking are beyond us, we won't hamper a long term plan for a short term gamble

Well, that's football. Imagine it's 12 months ago. We have just bought Barlaser then Villa come in with a 5m bid for Hackney. They get knocked back, come back again with a bid for £8m and everyone's going, sell him. He might end up not to be very good and Barlaser has a fair better record of goals and assists.

We then get to watch Hackney playing for England U21s and his value skyrocketing.

You can't play what-ifs but imagine the meltdown on here as people are saying Villa had our pants down. Why id we sell him? What's the point of developing a player if we sell them for peanuts and so on.

Agreed, we do need to raise a decent amount of money each season from sales but again, if you look at Brentford they do all their major sales in the summer when they have time to plan.

£10-12m isnt peanuts though, also Brentford have sold players in the winter window too. Namely Benrahma and Mepham
