  1. 🀣🀣 Simon Clarke would certainly get my vote, Boro fan too as would Matt Clarke, shame he couldnt have got the goal against Ipswich, denied by a brilliant reaction save from their keeper. It was a cracking header, not as good as ELL header, but a goal reward for the excellent performances he's put in since he returned from injury
  2. I retire from work in July this year & with having spare time one thing I'm thinking of doing is all next seasons PO finals x 3 Long way off I know, hopefully, fingers crossed Boro aren't involved & go up automatically, but attending all 3 is something I've often thought of doing Lets see πŸ‘€πŸ€”πŸ’πŸΊπŸ‘
  3. Hopefully Man City win the PL & the treble if im honest, with Arsenal then Liverpool Bottom, Sheff Utd, Burnley & sorry but Luton, even though Everton got battered last night I think Luton will just fall away, they've done remarkably well & probably everyones favourites to be relegated by xmas Leicester & Leeds top 2, with Southampton in the PO's, sorry Ipswich, you've had a great season & deserve to go up Relegated - Rotherham, Sheff Weds & Birmingham 1st division promotion - Portsmouth, I would like to see Bolton with them but think Derby will pip
  4. 16th April 1921 Our first league win on this day came away at Man Utd when a George Elliott goal was enough to bring both points back to the Boro This was George Elliotts 26th & final goal of the season & revenge after losing our previous game (9th) 4-2 at home to Man Utd Boro won only one of their remaining 4 games, drawing the other 3 as we finished in our 4th highest top flight finish of 8th. 5 places higher & 6 points better than the previous season Although we finished higher than the previous season, other than George Elliott Boro goalscorers were thin on
  5. As much as I like both players I wouldnt lose sleep over either going, both have spells on the sidelines, think we've had the vast majority of our 9 game unbeaten spell without either player playing If we get good money for them both & spebd it well even better
  6. 15th April 1905 Our first league win on this day when we travelled to Blackburn Rovers for a first division match A brace from Charles Hewitt his 3rd Boro goal to date in our 2-0 away win & after beating Blackburn at home earlier in the season & recording our first ever top flight league double John Robson in his final season as Boro manager seen his team finish 15th, our lowest top flight finish to date
  7. I actually think Michael Carrick likes Greenwood & maybe thinks if he were to be a permanent signing then he could become an inportant player for us, IMO, noone looked like a fish out of water more than Rogers did until he started scoring in our early doors league cup games & look how he turned out
  8. Just rewatching ELL goals v Saints, Hull & Ipswich, 2 great exected headers, different in their own way & his calm finish v Hull from a tight angle Another good signing from our ever improving summer player recruitment team
  9. Jones should have scored, good save all the same but he should have put it away, Clarkes save was a fantastic reaction save
  10. 14th April 1984 Middlesbrough 1 Cambridge United 1 A team we have faced 7 times in our history yet not once beat Our talisman of those days Heine Otto scoring our goal Kelham O'Hanlon Irving Nattrass Tony Mowbray Mick Baxter Paul Ward Darren Wood Gary Hamilton Heine Otto Mick Kennedy Paul Sugrue Stephen Bell - David Currie Attached is the match ticket & a few black & white photos of players from those days
  11. Yep, agree with all that Once in a lifetime season
  12. Fry is an odd one, agree as good as he is he wouldnt leave tge club due to his awful injury, we just cant rely on him, every season he misses a large chunk of games VDB & Clarke/Lenihan going forward
  13. Yes agree with that Dieng has certainly made up for his error at Hull more this season but yesterday, even restricting Ipswich to snapshots, he done his job brilliantly Im excited for the future under Michael Carrick
  14. I knew we wouldnt lose the match, it was end to end, great advert for the championship IMHO, we should have won, your keeper made two outstanding saves but the first one Jones should have been put it away, the 2nd was a terrific reaction save Regarding your team, I really hope you go up automatically, for me, given the finances & costs of players in each of the top 4 teams you deserve to go up the most, whether you have the mentality to see it through is another matter, this time of the season when so much is as stake can affect players in different ways Hopefully, fingers
  15. Hopefully with next season injury free we have the basis for a very good team, a few exciting additions & we'll be motoring along nicely
  16. Me too, sadly I dontbthink Michael Carrick has even fancied him, shame really
  17. 13th April 1997 Boro 3 Chesterfield 3 Took us an eternity to play in an FACSF but one that will not only live on for Boro & Chesterfield fans but everyone who tuned in that day What a game, probably as a neutral one of the most exciting FAC semi finals in the famous cups history From going down to 10 men, 2-0 down after Sean Dyke converted a penalty to leading 3-2 to then concede a last minute equaliser, yep this game had it all Summed up our season, how many miles did us fans clock up that season
  18. Played very well, scored early doors, lovely placed header for ELL with another assist from Ayling, hes catching up to Giles on that side, Ipswich came more into the ground with good defensive cover & Dieng we kept Ipswich at bay, all the possession Ipswich had they scored a goal we have been guilty of all season, silly, neddless goal that should have been dealt with, IMHO Second half it seemed end to end, Dieng again a ciuple of good saves, defenders blocks but their chances wete restricted on the otherhand within 2 minutes both Jones & Clarke were denied what would have been wi
  19. Both teams had chances, Boro limited Ipswich to snapshot chhances whereas we had 2, 3 realky cracking goalscoring chances Clarke continues to shine in defence, so unlucky with his header, ELL is having an excellent debut season for us If Greenwood doesnt come here next season then we need to bring someone in for that role, cant rely on Silvera anymore
  20. Well done Boro TBH I just didnt think we'd lose today & in truth we should have won Dieng made a few crucial saves 9 games now unbeaten
