  1. Exactly what I was wondering. Britt isn't exactly 'clinical'. I'd never have him on penalties. excellent sportsmanship from Assombalonga to deliberately miss after a dodgy penalty award.
  2. Yeah this is a weird appeal because it's a red card all day every day, and you're right, if the FA can add an extra game to the ban for a frivolous appeal alone, which this seems to be. Not to mention whatever they can add for the fact it was a stupid tackle. pointless appeal. Who cares if hes out for 1,3 or 4 games. Play some kid from the reserves in the remaining games hes not available for. All our matches left are now no more than glorified friendly warm up games for next season.
  3. formation? Reckon we will play 4,2----3----------1
  4. In some instances a club will pay for a player in instalments, Barca wanted to do it with Couitinho but Liverpool refused but we're talking multi million pound deal, but bearing in mind we got a huge wedge for being promoted and a hefty parachute payment why wouldn't West Ham want (what they would probably consider paltry) £7 mill up front. For clubs our size almost all fees are paid in instalments, part up front and part in instalments, West Ham couldn't demand it all up front because they know they wouldn't get it. Instalments wasn't the issue anyway it's that the quoted fees are the
  5. It's pretty dire isn't it. There are just not that many posters anymore. There just doesn't really seem to be much to talk about at the moment. Even the transfer thread is dead compared to normal. It kind of feels like the season is already over. I'm expecting us to finish the season pretty much where we are position-wise. Think we will just miss out on the play offs by a couple of points, or else on goal difference. I'm not sure I want us to go up anyways because I completely fell out of love with the premier league last year. I know that the premier league is a better place to b
  6. You cannot be "how far offside" it's like being pregnant....you either are or you aren't... have a look at this A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by: interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by a team-mate or interfering with an opponent by: preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or challenging an opponent for the ball or clearly attempting to play a ball which is
  7. Adama was gone and needed to come off - he’d started to leave men spare Johnson looked like it backfired big time. He started so well here but now looks very poor I'm with you that he maybe needed to come off. But taking off our only 2 creative players and bringing on Clayton and *** Johnson was horrendous. pullis had to try... now he knows not to do this again... only one way to find out if these players are good enough, unfortunately.
  8. what i was really after was a question on whether i'd prefer to stand on a safe terrace or sit on a cramped plastic seat.
  9. Absolutely spot on about the plan B. Good changes. Pretty decent second half. Makes me wonder what some people remember when they bang on about some of our previous managers. At least one could NEVER make early changes which would affect the outcome of a game, and would be more likely to wait until 85 minutes and bring on a like for like DM. (I'm talking Lenny Lawrence, obviously). Did he have anyone worth coming on though. I remember we played half a season without a forward LOL - Good point re: Lenny Lawrence rich - although that bit was [slightly] tongue in cheek. Some of
  10. isn't that how Jack Charlton played it? Long ball over the top for Foggon to run on to. Hoofball? you tell me.
  11. He could also be the second best or the second worst, have you considered that? Maybe even the third best or third worst. He could be somewhere in the middle between Colin Todd and Tony Mowbray. He could also not be our manager at all so we wouldn't have to go to all the trouble of ranking him when he gets the boot in a couple of years time. It's really all to play for. he will have to be extraordinary to beat Bobby Murdoch at one end and Jack Charlton at the other... Mind you, i've been in the ground when even Jack was getting a slagging off from some around me.
  12. downing or woodgate OR downing AND woodgate?
  13. surely Gibson is rapidly losing his 'good chairman that always gives his managers a chance' mantle by now?
  14. surely if you want rid of Monk the best thing would be to hope we play absolutely out of our skin, win well every week, and allow him eventually to be poached by Barcelona
  15. have we gone to the right ground? Seeing some of the tackles we seem to be playing leeds rhinos
  16. agree... always worried about us playing with a man down (either injured or sent off) against them. Bit of a throwback to the Revie dirty leeds era i'm afraid.
  17. Barnaby: Ive said it before BOOing your own team is not on, Under any circumstances full stop either get behind the team or go support Scumberland good point, well made. Only spoilt by the last nine words.
  18. Hmmm good point well put Well how about an unbeaten 10 match run from Easter as long as that includes our Cup Final appearance
  19. the age old "my 'boro knobs a bigger supporter than yours " reply I just about gave up on promotion this year after our first game, never mind first 10. Supporting the 'Boro still gives me enjoyment though. Not being a 'pot hunter' type.
  20. Yes absolutely not at all. I've given up on this season in terms of promotion. If we pull off the miracle and do get into the Premier league I can't see any way of us strengthening enough not to be whipping boys. A few years here team building will do me. Much more enjoyable. The prem is far overrated as a good experience anyway
  21. who's the dirtiest, hardest and strongest tackler we have in the reserves. Some kind of undiscovered new Souness. Let him play and give him free rein. Show Villa what a bad tackle really looks like.
  22. watching this i see villa, the dirty, cheating, over-physical ***s, have started like they played against the Boro. Reckon Monk had better play a full team of reserves in the cup game 'cos i fear they are going to kick us to death and, at the very least, put our best players on the treatment table for some time. Mind you, good play by adomah
  23. to be fair to Monk, he's not the only one is he? considering Bamfords record at other clubs. It would be interesting to find out why, as the lad seems ok when he does play
