Boro v Aston Villa (A) 0-0
akadave replied to boro-unger's topic in Match Day Threads 2017/18 Season
give the lad a chance. He wouldn't have had a career without Gary Pallister carrying him all those years. That must prey on his mind a lot, so he daren't give anything Boro related any credit. -

just happy we come away without losing points over the incident. -
"Post Mortem" Boro business Summer transfer window
akadave replied to Downsouth's topic in Boro Forum
I'm not sure If include Fletcher in that list, but the rest should for sure! aye well, that lad we signed as centre forward last year (seriously i can't remember his name) HE was going to score a shed load of goals, guaranteed, too. All this optimism is getting me down -
if he has half the luck of mclaren, he will do ok

"Jeez talk about doom and gloom" hope thats a creative mid and a centre back

shouldn't have done this. No matter how off message your opinion is there is absolutely NO NEED to explain yourself or prove your credentials. This will only encourage more "i'm more 'Boro than yew" type posts.... p.s.... I was the bloke who bought the pies at the original tripe supper. -
alan kernaghan being one of the best

not good.... just spent ages on the internet trying to find who 'spondulix' plays for and wether we would lose him while the african cup of nations was on.
-
i can see it now, gibson handing in a transfer request to him uncle steve. never happen. imagine steve though, behave yourself are i'll have a word with your dad lol has anyone had the wit yet to actually have a word with the lad about his ambitions and intentions?
-
the lad must be a fantastic player if they won't release him till they get at least three others in to replace him.
-
He will be on a decent wage coming from the premier league. And I'm guessing he wouldn't have the relegation clause in his contract I think the gazette reported earlier in the summer that every contract had a relegation release clause in it. I can't for the life of me imagine we'd forget such a clause as newly promoted team who had financial problems the last time we went down. with Gestedes unlucky reputation regarding relegation, i'd imagine that such a clause would be a priority on any contract

Boro vs Nottingham Forest (A) 1-2 (Gibson)
akadave replied to BearSmog's topic in Match Day Threads 2017/18 Season
don't like this,... after the two away games we seem to be getting a reputation as an unlucky team .I'd much rather we were poor, 'cos we can improve on that. Unlucky teams are unlucky for all time. -

can't be much fun on the fringes of the team knowing that your career depends on an injury to a teammate or a serious beating to the current side. -

nottingham forest... long , long time ago, but didn't Brian Clough insist on his players being clean shaven? -
Boro vs Sheffield United 1-0 (Gestede)
akadave replied to BearSmog's topic in Match Day Threads 2017/18 Season
david armstrong started the shaved head trend i think, can't remember the first beardy... good result though, I can see this being a good team that will get better still -

Fortress Riverside - a Strong Hold for our Promotion Challenge
akadave replied to oneboro's topic in Boro Forum
have we ever been a 'fortress', either at the riverside or Ayresome Park? I've certainly seen quite a number of big game disappointments and rather fewer certain home successes. we're not the type of side to be first down on the home wins coupon. -
if the cash was there i'd buy in an instant. Unfortunately though, I don't have the money sense, the football brain or the ruthlessness to sack people that an owner should have. With me in charge Lennie Lawrence would still be manager and John Hickton leading the line

I hope you cashed out if you put on the bet ;) mr ladbrooks has a fleet of posh limos and i drive about in a ten year old honda. Does that tell you about my betting record?.. especially on the 'Boro.

i see wolves have managed to drag themselves off the bottom after last nights results -
all the years watching 'boro I've always hoped for one thing. To play a whole season in the league unbeaten. Are the odds on that good this year? And how about unbeaten in league and cups?

akadave replied to northern boro's topic in Boro Forum
you know, I've poured over every national paper i can get hold of since the match and can't find a report of the game at all. Some don't even give the score. One or two have full page articles on what a Sunderand player said in the pub after their friendly. Have we stopped talking to all papers or just the Gazette?
