  1. We already shreaded one Boro legend, I don't want to go through that again. Who in their right mind would dare to take a job here knowing the constant criticism they will face over every decision they make.
  2. Again, purely down to the amount of money thrown on it, I bet. Would you blame some of our fans and all the outsiders putting money on it right now? I personally don't think it will happen but there you go. what are the odds on him leading us out at Wembley?
  3. A loan then? There has to be something happening though, doesn't there? DOESN'T THERE? wasn't it not that long ago that the only worries on deadline day or the transfer window that we had were not about getting players to come here, but that we feared our best players going?
  4. he didn't "take on his own fans." He SUPPORTED his own players. Just what a manager should be expected to do.
  5. rhodes/nugent (can't remember which one it was) and Downing not so long ago spring to mind
  6. is it our list, or the gazettes list? was jesse the only true target and the others newspaper conjecture?
  7. manchester city, leeds, manchester united, then thrash chelsea in the final.... the better the day, the better the deed.
  8. him and a long list of managers from Jack Charlton onwards. Are they ALL wrong?
  9. i suppose we've got to get an office lad to nip into tk max for a leather holdall big enough for all the cash first.
  10. It's the same as a team preparing a 12 million pound bid. How does that work We are preparing a 12 mill bid When will it be ready Tomorrow Next day We have a bid What is it We will pay 12 million ????????
  11. watched a film couple nights ago. Nicholas Cage as an astropyhsisist whose son became the focus for an end of the world prediction. would have been really good apart from the continual whispering and the american accents which I really couldn't hear properly. Could have done with some sub titles... oh, and the ending, considering everyone on earth died, was as sickly sweet, as only the americans can do it
  12. never mind Viduka.... I thought RAVANELLI always wanted to come back.
  13. Didn't somebody famous once say "There's no room for sentiment in football" you're not kidding. It was well into the 1990's before i realised John Hickton wouldn't get a game anymore.
  14. i'd rather have danny 'chance' blanchflower with malcolm 'oh f***ing hell' allison.
  15. brownlee was barely passable supported by higgy, but now...:@ replace them both with that guy who does the pitchside stuff.
  16. maybe because i always look for some kind of conspiracy behind everything, but does anyone else get a feeling that mowbray and gibson had differences over such things as which players to bring into the club, team selection and so on... with venus more in agreement with gibson than tony. or it could be the fsa/cia.
  17. is this why tony left? did he resign because he wouldn't allow his chairman to chose his players? or was he sacked for the same reason?
  18. start with a strong defense and build on that. jack charlton knew.
  19. catenaccio. much as i'd like the Boro to win by hatfulls, i hate conceding more.
  20. marvellous! who's the next wilf mcguiness?
  21. don't pay to watch 'good football', pay to watch The Boro. hostage to fortune as it were. mind you, to have both would be nice. and i'll clap everyone who wears, or wore, a Boro shirt. (except maybe beagrie, ziege, zenden, beattie, etc, etc...)
  22. not being one to harbour a grudge... alan parry, david mellor, thatcher.
  23. jeff stelling surely, or that bloke who went to school with gibson
  24. Mowbray, giant of a man though he is to The Boro, my all time favourite player, can hardly be counted as a football great compared to the others mentioned here. so the top players don't make top managers line doesn't really work. as a player then manager i'd maybe put him alongside... er,... Ramsey?
