January Transfer Window 2026 - Postmortem
It’s awful and utterly pointless. What puzzles me is what seems to be the official forum position on “characters” & “wums” . Real posters to put them on ignore. The ignore though doesn’t ignore if they are quoted. Seems a strange idea to not deal with it but leave the awful posters to run wild. This place will eventually end up like COB and FMTTM. I guess enough eyeballs means ad impressions even if many are the same person with different accounts.

I think that’s very close to being the issue. There aren’t the Billy Sharpes Shaun Goaters etc any more. People like Sterling are happy not playing and picking up a fortune. I think we are left with looking at strikers who are out of favour with their club but harbour ambitions for a World Cup place.

In terms of a striker I think we need someone akin to Billy Sharpe. Someone happy to start only a few games and come off the bench but has been there and done it. I think this next bit is almost not about the number of goals they score but the importance of goals they score

Chelsea had an obligation to buy Sanchez’s for a fee but paid Man Utd £5 to not sign him. These deal tend to be complicated and not always the same. Elliot’s agent should be shot for the Villa loan Dean going to them on loan on a pay as you play deal has really back fired.

There are qualifications you can do in scouting for anyone who is serious. Doesn’t give ability but opens doors.

Swansea equaliser would be nice against Boro B

Boro v Preston North End 4-0 (Browne, Conway, Whittaker, Conway)
Not sure how a lettuce will help with anything

Boro v Preston North End 4-0 (Browne, Conway, Whittaker, Conway)
Gutted we kept a clean sheet. Why couldn’t we just concede one.
-
Boro v Preston North End 4-0 (Browne, Conway, Whittaker, Conway)
Good first half and a cracking scoreline. Let’s have a controlled second half and do nothing silly and we could rest on the pitch. Chuffed for Conway. Browne starting to believe he’s Brazilian

Boro v Preston North End 4-0 (Browne, Conway, Whittaker, Conway)
Two weeks for Jones I believe. Fatigue could play apart today so I wouldn’t be surprised if we made a few changes. Preston are a funny team who always seem to play well against us. At least Riis isn’t there. Would be nice to make a statement today and put some pressure on the other two. A good 4 - 1 Boro win should do.

Giant flag with Gibbo’s head on it and the words “I don’t want promotion “

Stoke v Boro 1-2 (Browne, Conway)
Good result. Poor performance overall but it’s important to get through these games and get points on the board if you want to be there at the business end of the season. Hopefully it hasn’t taken too much out of us and we can be rested for the early game this weekend.

Stoke v Boro 1-2 (Browne, Conway)
They love hitting the deck every chance they get.
