The January Transfer Window 2021 AKA "Didn't we do well"
GrimsbyBoro replied to Old Codger's topic in Boro Forum
I am hesitant. I know he is highly rated but we have been here before in recent history. Steele was going to be England No 1 according to some. Pears was also the next big thing. I think I would rather a good experienced keeper and put Brynn out on loan to a good level. -

Fearful of this one. I think we might could easily loose this by 3 or 4 goals. Moore will have a field day -
Cardiff and Barnsley are in great form. I think both Bournemouth and Reading will be in squeaky bum time now. Amazingly still all to play for.

I guess it depends whether he has a future at the club or not. If it’s to put him in the shop window then fair enough. If we want to develop him then an English speaking league would have been preferential.
-
If he had been as poor as Bett has been he would have received 10x the criticism as well. I also question the wisdom of loaning him to a foreign country.

What effect does Brexit have on getting a foreign manager? Any? None? I don’t know just wonder if it’s a consideration. If it doesn’t I would like to see Reitzger but maybe not yet. This summer is a great opportunity to rebuild the squad but I think it may need someone with real knowledge of the championship. -

The fact Warnock had a go at the strikers is baffling. -

I think there is a mix of things happening with the back line. McNair and Djik are learning the role of centre back on the job. They are going to make mistakes - to a lesser extent it’s the same with Fry. In an ideal world he has a good senior pro next to him to coach him through the game. I thought he was poor on the first two goals last night. I do think it’s slightly unfair to be switching them from a 4 to essentially a 3 at the back. In a 3 the CB’s really needs to be able to read the game and anticipate the attack. Our back line is reactive and gets moved about by clev -
Will get started now then. No chance of us beating Cardiff.

Bett is really awful. It’s like he has hip problems. Doesn’t come out, doesn’t really anticipate the game and doesn’t even try for shots on the deck. Awful. If we are paying him his rumoured wage then that’s *** money away would have been better off signing a Rob Elliot on a free than this. It’s not just Bett though as a unit we are weak at the back and lack both concentration and that hunger for a clean sheet. Not many positives last night at all and I can’t see a result coming on Saturday. We are really only in the play off push still because it’s a crazy league. 10th upw -

It’s a weird one though. This is back of the fag box maths but if I am right if everyone in the top 10 won there games in hand we would be 9th or 10th. But still one 5 points off the play offs. -

I think Warnock has been and is planning as if he was staying on. Even in the Jan transfer window he talked about looking at deals in the summer. It could however be just good stewardship so that if he does stay he isn’t starting from zero.
-
And hopefully the uncertainty drives him on to do a Viduka.
-
Yeah I don’t see that we can turn that around in what’s left either. We are essentially an extra point behind.
-
A draw or Cardiff win. A Cardiff win keeps us three points out of the play offs.
-
He said something similar about Watmore. I guess the issue we have is the better he plays the more interest there will be in him.

Definitely keep the same team if everyone is fit. Be good to see Bolasie on the bench but other than that I am happy. memorable woodgate moment has to be picking up my winnings on him being appointed. Thought it was the selection that Gibbo would make. For my lawyers I would go with Michael Reiziger apparently he has impressive briefs -
He’s been very fortunate as well. Assistant leaves he comes in then the manager gets the chop. He’s out in temp charge does alright with a good squad and Bournemouth look like they were scraping the barrel in their extensive search of managers.

They really looked out of ideas for their next manager Viera, Henry Woodgate hardly inspirational. -

Yaya Sanogo looks to be joining Huddersfield. He was another one of those strikers we went in for before our first choice signing. be interesting to see how this goes with regards to work permits. Does he have an English passport? -
