I think you're being harsh. I think next season some of these players will step up. We are playing the long game. Just my opinion...and I may be wrong.

We need to stick with the plan. This has been a tough season for a variety of reasons, but I think that if we back Carrick in the summer, we will have a better season next season. Carrick is still inexperienced, and he clearly still has a lot to learn, but he does not throw his players under the bus, and I think he will learn from his mistakes and improve.

Is it possible for KM to lurk in "online bushes" and get to the bottom of this?

Millwall v Boro 1-3 (Engel, Jones, Forss)

Great performance. New boys looked great. UTB!! -
Merry Christmas from the good ole USA. Thank you to everyone on here for giving me a slice of home everytime I come on here. UTB!

Unfortunately, these midweek games are hard for me to catch because I'm still working when the game is on. I can listen on my way home, but the cell phone reception comes and goes, which means the commentary comes and goes, too. The last few games I've listened to like this, it shuts off and then ten minutes or so later I learn that we've conceded a goal 😡 Hope we can get a win as the cash from the semi will be nice...and then who knows.

Swansea v Boro 1-2 (Greenwood, Silvera)

It's a funny old game. Think we've played better and lost. But I'll take the much-needed win! UTB 👋 -
Excellent post. It is going to be difficult for us to adjust, but I believe it will be better in the long term. I do not want anyone to think I am already writing this season off. The squad has undergone drastic changes, and I think it may take a little while for it all to gel.

I think this may be one of my all time favorite posts 😁

I absolutely love that we are playing our cards close to our chest these days. I remember when we had tons of links on here, and then teams like Aston Villa would just snap them up. The one problem with this is that the forum's posts are excruciating to read in between links.

Other people have made this point, but it's worth repeating. The new model we are following requires patience. We are one game in to a long season, and the transfer window is still open. This is a tough division, one of the toughest Championship line-ups I can remember, but I think we will be up there challenging in some way shape or form.

BORO v Coventry - Semi Final 2nd Leg 0-1
Smoggy-in-VA replied to SmogDane's topic in Match Day Threads 2022/23 Season
This hurts a lot. Good luck to Coventry, a team we have failed to break down in four attempts. I am hoping that we can build on this foundation. I've been encouraged with the business we've done in recent transfer windows, and Carrick will hopefully be here to spearhead a full season promotion push. I'm hoping we are Brighton the year we were promoted and they weren't (in that how the next few years have gone and where we are now). -
Coventry City v BORO Play Off S/F 1st leg 0-0
Smoggy-in-VA replied to marvin's topic in Match Day Threads 2022/23 Season
Job half done. I thought it was a professional performance away at a team that can be dangerous on the break. Now I've just got to figure out how to watch the game on Wednesday as I'm working... -
I know it's the other end of the table, but QPR are getting sucked in to the relegation fight.

Thanks so much for posting that. It was a great article. All part of our more intelligent approach.

Boro v Preston 4-0 (Akpom, Archer (2), Forss)

What a performance. We were an absolute joy to watch today, and the subs looked great, too. Great way to go into the international break. -
Boro V Reading 5-0 (Chuba (2) Ramsey (2) Forss)

Great stuff today! We played some sublime football at times. Started my day off perfectly 😀 -
I thought they were referring to the through ball that Swift played through to Wallace? I thought he looked well offside, but the replays didn't show a good angle. Not a great performance, but WBA are a dnagerous team, who have underachieved this season. We had our moments, but the ball didn't bounce our way, and we didn't make our own good luck. Time to move on and focus on Reading.

Boro v QPR 3-1 (Akpom (2) McGree)
Smoggy-in-VA replied to boro-unger's topic in Match Day Threads 2022/23 Season
I agree to an extent. We have enjoyed some good luck recently (e.g. the header against the post v Cardiff after which we scored our second), but I'm a big believer in the concept of making your own luck. It will not always work, but I love how we keep on pressuring the opposition. Saturday's game was a case in point. We struggled at first. In the first half the intent was there, but the execution wasn't. We looked much better in the second half, and we were pouring forward and still attacking at the end of the game. Ultimately, the table at the end of the season won't lie. We will have e -

Not our best performance, but great to see that we can grind out a result. That said, we still played some nice football, especially in the second half. Big calls from Carrick to change the line up the way he did, but it was good to get Barlaser and Ramsey involved. What a week! UTB!!! 😀 -

Boro v Blackpool 3-0 (Akpom (2), McNair)

Thoroughly enjoyable game. Another game where it was difficult to pick a MOTM. Lenihan was an absolute beast today. Barlaser looks great. Some real headaches for MC now because we have about 15 players who could easily start. McNair continued to look great. Front four looked good as usual... The player that I am really impressed with is Smith. When we first bought him, I thought he was a bit of a plodder, someone who'd be a useful back-up but not much more; however, he has shown that he deserves that right back spot, and we looked very dangerous today on the right with his overlappin
