  1. We also had a young team of up and coming players, not surrounded by vast amounts of championship experience. Pretty sure Sunderland had something like 3 times the amount of championship minutes compared to us when we’d played them.
  2. Millwall proved last year that slightly above average championship players who can grind out results and have a couple of leaders can get you far in this league. Whilst they might not be the most exciting players to be signing, it’s a refreshing approach that’ll help over the season. Add to that some grit in midfield and we will be okay.
  3. Boro 11 v Redcar tomorrow. Reckon there will be any trialists? What will the team comprise of?
  4. Not to be a bed wetter…. other clubs are leaving us behind. We will be bottom half next season if we don’t pull our finger out. Our ‘review’ took far too long, appointing Edward’s seemed to take an age and we still have yet to sign anyone despite players heading on pre-season training tomorrow. From the outside looking in, we appear slow and lethargic as a football club. A couple of predictions 1) Last couple of hours of deadline day - “we tried to sign x player” but it didn’t come off. (Leaked in the gazette to appease the fans). Been happening for years. 2) Slow start due to players not getting through the door quick enough. Again a common theme over the last couple of seasons. 3) Insert ‘x’ club here celebrating either promotion or achieving a playoff spot at the riverside around April time. (Sick of seeing it lol) 4) Key players leave for pastures new and we replace them with inferior projects. Some will work, some won’t. The ones who do work up sticks within the next two years, rinse and repeat. Hard to gain any real connection with players at the club as any successful ones rapidly leave. Gotta have faith in Edward’s but it feels a bit meh at the minute following the Boro!
  5. França from palace?? Surely not he signed for €20 million according to wiki from the same team muniz played for prior to Fulham when we were both after him. Potentially one we’ve been keen on for a while??
  6. Appears quite a few champ teams are willing to pay decent fees for players already this window. Hopefully we have our top targets quite far along and we aren’t going to regret leaving it late. When was the last time we went on pre-season without a single new signing. Most expensive season tickets in the league and a 10th place finish last season. No fresh faces makes it hard to be optimistic imo
  7. I think at Luton he had to play to their strengths which is a physical approach and he showed his adaptability. He will come here wanting to play more his style of football which he couldn’t play at Luton
  8. Van den berg was poor last season. If we get the chance to sell him for big bucks I’d take it. As long as it’s reinvested properly.
  9. Scott has generally moved the club forward since he joined us. Moving away from players leaving on a free and massive contracts. Identifying players on the cheap and selling high was the method we’d been wanting for years. The club was only going one way before he came in. He appears an aspirational guy, I don’t think he’d risk his career and reputation by appointing someone he used to work with years ago if he didn’t think he was the best man for the job. Have some faith instead of getting the pitch forks out!!
  10. Hope Edwards gets backed by fans if it is him. I mean, with a well drilled Luton team, he did what Boro couldn’t with our best team for the last 9 years. - Beat Coventry
  11. Realistically since Scott has been in. Wilder clearly wasn’t his first choice and clearly wasn’t in line with the director of football approach. Carrick is rumoured to be Gibsons choice ahead of Edwards. This is Scott’s first ‘real’ appointment where he is given the choice to appoint a manager you’d think. You’d like to think part of the review, away from carrick would be who would replace him. You’d imagine it’ll all be sorted before the opening of the second window…
  12. Woodgate hasn’t known anything all season 😂
  13. Other than an unknown manager from outside of England. I think cooper is the best manager available for a non-parachute payment club. Did well with England youth team, worked wonders with forest getting them up, then kept them up. Feel like he’d suit the club as well. Type of manager that would galvanise the fan base as he seems very passionate.
  14. Wonder if an incoming manager had a clause in his contract not to sign for a new club until the end of may. And we’ve taken a couple of days to sort new contracts out before letting go of Carrick.
  15. The gazette posted a couple of months ago about lack of connection between the fans and the club. No doubt performances contributed. What better way to take the pressure off Carrick than a public backing and to rally all fans. Add in a couple of new signings and Carrick will stand a chance with renewed optimism. Radio silence will not help any one. Sliding in “Michael Carricks Middlesbrough will take on rangers” into an article is completely ignoring the fans imo. Hoping the failure of last season will all be forgotten about. As if it never happened
