  1. If we can shift at least a portion of Leadbitter's wages along with Chapman and somehow get rid of Gestede, i'd be quite happy with the outgoings. We really do need a RB and a RW, Adama on loan would be perfect for the latter.

What i'd absolutely love to see, and realise there is absolutely 0 chance of seeing under TP:

    Randolph

    RB - Fry - Ayala - Friend

    Mikel

    Saville - Wing

    Traore - Britt - VLP

  2. I know it is taking things to the extreme but in a way the powers that be are influencing team selection to a degree due to the Downing situation.

Did we not have a similar situation with Gary O'Neill where we had to stretch out his last game for us due to other factors kicking into place?

Don't think a Chairman interfering with team selection/signing players the manager doesn't want has ever worked or will ever work.

I think the only way this does work (and also the way a club should be run in my opinion) is if there is a "board" who have a clear vision and strategy for the club - what the style will be and what kind of players will be signed. The manager, ie head coach, is selected by the same "board" to fit the philosophy they are and have implemented(ing). There should be no concept of a manager shaping the club in the way that is the accepted commonplace tday. In terms of input on transfers, the head coach should be included in discussions about the identified targets. There are more than enough qualified managers in the world and more than enough information, to a huge scale, on them to be able to find one that fits the bill.

  3. Leeds sign Kiko Casilla, if they can keep hold of Clarke and sign another winger/attacking midfielder no way they don't finish 1st for me

    The new Tomas Meijas?

Alas not. Casilla is not a young up and comer with potential, he's a proven "top level" keeper. Somewhat ironically for a La Liga keeper, his aerial ability is his strongest attribute. He has played over 100 games for Espanyol and over 200 his career (including 43 for Real). Brilliant signing.

Only just over 200 in his career at 32 is pretty shocking for a goalkeeper tbf

True. It's because he didn't break into Espanyol's first team until he was 27. Take what you want from that.

  4. Leeds sign Kiko Casilla, if they can keep hold of Clarke and sign another winger/attacking midfielder no way they don't finish 1st for me

  5. Braithwaite scores against Real Madrid, just think if we could get players like him at the club.........

Just watch. Another Stuani situation. Don't utilise a player to their natural abilities, then watch them flourish elsewhere.

Speaking g of Stuani he scored against Athletico - thing is didn't most of us see their natural abilities and then even dared to put our views about them on this forum? Wouldn't surprise me if TP pipes up and takes credit for the goals

Yeah everyone knew Stuani was a quality goalscorer, them ghosting back post runs of his I seem to remember. Wish he got more of a chance in a 2 up front with some decent wide men but oh well let's hope he goes to Barca and we get a decent sell on fee.

He's being strongly linked to Barca as a backup for Suarez.

  6.

I know Tony likes Rudy but I can definitely see this happening if we get an extra forward in. It might be a case of him OR Fletcher to go out, though.

Hopefully the appeal of Rudy is negating by Hugill who seems to be able to hold up the ball better than Gestede anyway

Karanka's Forest wanting Gestede really doesn't work with the narrative that was spewed by Karanka that he didn't want any of the players we brought in that prem jan transfer window.

  7. Looking at our squad (and those that have featured from the U23s), you can see the areas we are light in depth on. Any injuries, serious or not, to most positions will leave us severely weakened and as the cliche goes, the Championship is one of the most gruelling campaigns there is. Is this squad better than last season? No. Is this a Championship winning squad? No. Is it possible? Of course. We don't need to be the best team in the division. We just need to keep grinding out points wherever we can and the discipline and shape that Pulis brings is ideal for this.

The next 5 league games will be extremely telling as to how this season will go; West Brom (H), Leeds (A), Norwich (A), Bolton (H) and Swansea (H). If we can pick up 10 points from those 5, I will be happy and hopeful we can end up around the top 6. Anything less really and it will be long ol' season.

Our squad (please correct me if i'm missing anyone):

    GK: Randolph, Lonergan, Dimi

    ---

    RB: Shotton, (Mahmutovic), (Spence)

    CB: Ayala, Flint, Fry, (Wood-Gordon)

    LB: Friend, (McGinley), (Reading)

    ---

    Def Minded: Leadbetter, (De Sart)

    In the middle: Clayton, McNair

    Att Minded: Howson, Wing

    ---

Wing/Inside Forward: Braithwaite, Downing, Fletcher, Tavernier, Chapman

ST: Britt, Gestede, Hugill, (Walker), (O'Neil)

    ---

    Surplus: Johnson
