  1. When Adomah was heading to us, Villa hijacked it and he went back
  2. Adomah, meh. He wouldn’t fit the system we’ve been playing and to change systems we’d need 2-3 wingers not just one. Clearly we didn’t pull out all the stops out for Puncheon, otherwise pretty sure he’d be here. It’s been a good window for the club in terms of finances and on the pitch results, just a really poor window for the fans to lose our top players without adding anyone exciting. There’s always January, I guess... hopefully we’ll be top two with the enforced 5-3-2 formation and we can bring players in for that specific system. Who wants wingers anyway...
  3. Lets just say i dont think the media outlets are making up these "targets". You think someone at the club is being paid to sit around and think of players that we don't want that we can leak to the media and end up not getting? Really? Not sure how the club gains from this at all Isn't it more likely the media are making assumptions to fill column inches or printing info given by agents who want to drum up interest in their players. Occams razor for me every time. We were making derisory bids on deadline day for deals that had no hope of transpiring, to give the ‘appearance’ of ambition. The media didn’t make that up. Even Occam’s razor would agree with that. Except for Saville, who looks like signing and Besic who has signed. You argument has so many holes it’s beginning to look like emmental... Emmental my dear Watson! Saville is actually the player we made a derisory bid for... him and Wallace, arguable Millwall’s two best players for a combined fee of £6m on deadline day - it was a joke really. Millwall were never going to accept that, even if they wanted the money they had no chance of finding replacements. Same for our Freeman bid at QPR. Besic and Saville are both joining on loans - unless I’m mistaken there’s only a transfer ‘option’ - we haven’t signed these players yet and I’m not sure if we are committed to (same for Hugill). Would be interested in the details of these deals if anyone knows, because I think these are options only, not firm commitments. Very happy to be proved wrong by the way! Just expressing my opinion on things based on the pattern of the clubs behaviour since January. I think we can expect sales out and loans in only. Pulis will most likely leave after the books are balanced and then we’ll put Woody in charge with a modest budget. We’re just gearing up for life in the Championship. Nothing wrong with that, but the club are trying to paint a different picture and that’s what I find odd.
  4. Don’t be surprised if all our promising youngsters go out on loan - that will raise their value to sell sell sell!
  5. Yes rich, contrived. I chose that word very carefully. The whole point of my post was that I don't think we were ever really in for some of theseason "targets", and therefore contrived is the perfect word. Even if we weren’t in for these players. It isn’t the club that’s said we were in for them so who is actually contriving it Lets just say i dont think the media outlets are making up these "targets". Still, McQueen is a good loan signing.and we’ll stuff dirty Leeds tomorrow.
  6. Either that or he actually does just want to leave? He was house hunting last week, so he must be very upset at being forced out of the club this week. ;) I realise I’m definitely in the minority on this one, but this is just my opinion based on the pattern of outgoing transfers this season and the PR spin that has accompanied each one. The club are really pushing the ‘he wants to leave’ line, but we’ve been trying to get rid of him since things went sour with Monk in December/January and we started a clear (to me anyway) agenda of recovering costs. It’s a two way thing, not as simple as the club and some fans are making out. We where trying to get rid of bamford in January. But braithwaite asked to leave so we let him go instead. You’ll all have to put me in the OneBoro stockade and throw tomatoes at me because I think the club will happily get any high earners off the books and sell anyone for a decent fee that they can until further notice! (and they’re not being ‘transparent’ with fans which they made a big point of last year, in fact I think they’re being the opposite)

  8. I think the club have stitched Braithwaite right up with this one. He’s always given his best on the pitch and we’ve clearly had an agenda to move him on since January. Saying ‘he wants to leave’ line was predicted and covers the club after selling our four best players in one summer. With everything that’s going on, Pulis has got to be on some sort of kind of bonus structure for selling players whilst retaining a decent league position. It’s Tony Mowbray 2.0, except this time the manager is on board with it and he’s a lot better at PR.
  9. After Pulis' head? I thought that was only some posters on here!
  10. We'd have loved Puncheon a few seasons ago, but him and Downing now have a combined age of 66...
  11. That is very interesting... it does fit the pattern of offloading whatever the club can to improve finances. The quote from The Northern Echo: "Spanish sides Girona and Leganes have expressed an interest in Martin Braithwaite, who is the highest-paid player on Boro’s books by a considerable margin" I'm sure if he does go, we'll hear from the Tony 'PR'ulis: "We only want players who want to be here' when in all likelihood he's probably been told to find a new club, to get his wages off the books. Another theory, are the Echo becoming the new club's PR spin agents? "Ooo look we're after Rafa Silva" then nothing. Another theory, is Tony Pulis being incentivised financially to put the club in profit as part of his contractual remit? To be fair, the Echo never said we were after Silva, they strongly denied it. I got that from you Will! I was meaning their initial bullish denial of the link Ah, got it - MFC not in cahoots with the Echo then.
  12. Interesting that there was no mention of Rafa Silva in that article, perhaps the echo are back tracking on their initial bullishness. Also interesting to see that Braithwaite is by far our highest paid player... That is very interesting... it does fit the pattern of offloading whatever the club can to improve finances. 13. Nice one Wilson. I hope we can we refer to our 5-3-2 as 3-3-2-2 as it sounds way more exotic. ---------------- Randolph ---------------- ---------- Ayala -- Flint --- Fry ----------- -- Shotton ----- Clayton ----- Friend -- -------- Howson ----- Downing -------- ---- Assombalonga -- Hugill* --------- *Braithwaite to be shipped out on a loan/option to buy before the match. Think this will be a 1-1 or 2-2 draw, which will be a good result for us.
  14. Might be wrong but I thought he played wing a lot at lower levels when he was younger but changed to a more central role as he got older. This is what I thought. Last 3 or 4 years I'd say he's almost exclusively played centrally Are we still talking about Rich?

  16. Hopefully Walker. I think a Chapman is still recovering and not worth risking.
  17. Villa are more than welcome to Bolasie. He'll get on famously with McCormack and hopefully Shane Long too, as Steve Bruce prepares his team to win Championship Manager 2012-2013.
  18. Not bothered about Bolasie. Not bothered about Besic. UTB!
  19. We’ll cruise this one... Though I don’t think they’ll be as many changes as some people are expecting. Pulis is not one to change too much (even if he says he will). What have you got next for us SD?!
  20. Great opening post wilson - that cheered me up after yesterday. Regular formations are now extinct. We're going to play the lop-sided 4-2-2-1-1. What we lack in style we will make up for in zero width. ------------------ Randolph ------------------ -- Shotton --- Fry --- Flint --- Friend ------ ------------------ Clayton -------- Downing -- ---------------Wing -- McNair ----------------- ----------------- Braithwaite ------------------ --------------- Assombalonga ----------------- Pep Guardiola will be all over this new formation after our 1-0 win thanks to a McNair header from a corner puts us top of the league. Up the Biro!
  21. DOES ANYONE HAVE A SEVERE CASE OF DEJA VU THIS MORNING?! Apologies for the capital letters, but I'm still in disbelief that we offered a combined total of £6m for two of Millwall's best players on deadline day. It's insulting to them and embarrassing for us - all so we could say 'we tried'. Bolasie won't be coming here on loan. Why would he? He doesn't have to no matter what Everton say or do. It's Jese Rodriguez all over again. It's clear now that Pulis is Mowbary 2.0. He's been brought in as a firefighter so the club can recover from Monk's disaster (Monk being Strachan 2.0). What a strange unsettling end to a terrible transfer window for MFC. The club is paying the price for chopping and changing manager and strategy year on year. I wish they'd just come out and say it rather than put on a transfer deadline pantomime. I'd be much prouder of a club putting youth first, rather than PR first. Still, UTB and all that. I'll be glad when the match rolls around and we can support the youngsters. Really want to see at least Wing and Tav starting and Chapman coming on.
  22. I’d say that bottle was half full Sir - Godspeed!
  23. I understand your personal disappointment but as a fan I feel in no way have I been conned nor let down. We still have 3 weeks to get deals done. +1 I think differently and thought today was purely a pantomime, put on to appease some supporters. A truly laughable day. Each to their own, some people are optimists and like to see their glass is half full. Others are pessimists and see their glass is half empty. Then there are those who think that their glass is full of sh!t that was put there by Pulis/Gibson/Bauser on purpose the b@st@rds Beardy I am the biggest Boro optimist since my Dad, who put a bet on that we’d win the double (the year we got to both finals and lost!). But how else can you explain our strategy today? Making derisory bids for Millwall’s and QPR’s best players and leaving the Besic negotiations until 4:55pm? We’re clearly weaker than when we started the window, despite having funds to make acquisitions.
