  1. Interesting that there was no mention of Rafa Silva in that article, perhaps the echo are back tracking on their initial bullishness. Also interesting to see that Braithwaite is by far our highest paid player... That is very interesting... it does fit the pattern of offloading whatever the club can to improve finances. The quote from The Northern Echo: "Spanish sides Girona and Leganes have expressed an interest in Martin Braithwaite, who is the highest-paid player on Boro’s books by a considerable margin" I'm sure if he does go, we'll hear from the Tony 'PR'ulis: "We only want players who want to be here' when in all likelihood he's probably been told to find a new club, to get his wages off the books. Another theory, are the Echo becoming the new club's PR spin agents? "Ooo look we're after Rafa Silva" then nothing. Another theory, is Tony Pulis being incentivised financially to put the club in profit as part of his contractual remit?
  2. Hopefully Walker. I think a Chapman is still recovering and not worth risking.
  3. Villa are more than welcome to Bolasie. He'll get on famously with McCormack and hopefully Shane Long too, as Steve Bruce prepares his team to win Championship Manager 2012-2013.
  4. Not bothered about Bolasie. Not bothered about Besic. UTB!
  5. We’ll cruise this one... Though I don’t think they’ll be as many changes as some people are expecting. Pulis is not one to change too much (even if he says he will). What have you got next for us SD?!
  6. Great opening post wilson - that cheered me up after yesterday. Regular formations are now extinct. We're going to play the lop-sided 4-2-2-1-1. What we lack in style we will make up for in zero width. ------------------ Randolph ------------------ -- Shotton --- Fry --- Flint --- Friend ------ ------------------ Clayton -------- Downing -- ---------------Wing -- McNair ----------------- ----------------- Braithwaite ------------------ --------------- Assombalonga ----------------- Pep Guardiola will be all over this new formation after our 1-0 win thanks to a McNair header from a corner puts us top of the league. Up the Biro!
  7. DOES ANYONE HAVE A SEVERE CASE OF DEJA VU THIS MORNING?! Apologies for the capital letters, but I'm still in disbelief that we offered a combined total of £6m for two of Millwall's best players on deadline day. It's insulting to them and embarrassing for us - all so we could say 'we tried'. Bolasie won't be coming here on loan. Why would he? He doesn't have to no matter what Everton say or do. It's Jese Rodriguez all over again. It's clear now that Pulis is Mowbary 2.0. He's been brought in as a firefighter so the club can recover from Monk's disaster (Monk being Strachan 2.0). What a strange unsettling end to a terrible transfer window for MFC. The club is paying the price for chopping and changing manager and strategy year on year. I wish they'd just come out and say it rather than put on a transfer deadline pantomime. I'd be much prouder of a club putting youth first, rather than PR first. Still, UTB and all that. I'll be glad when the match rolls around and we can support the youngsters. Really want to see at least Wing and Tav starting and Chapman coming on.
  8. I’d say that bottle was half full Sir - Godspeed!
  9. I understand your personal disappointment but as a fan I feel in no way have I been conned nor let down. We still have 3 weeks to get deals done. +1 I think differently and thought today was purely a pantomime, put on to appease some supporters. A truly laughable day. Each to their own, some people are optimists and like to see their glass is half full. Others are pessimists and see their glass is half empty. Then there are those who think that their glass is full of sh!t that was put there by Pulis/Gibson/Bauser on purpose the b@st@rds Beardy I am the biggest Boro optimist since my Dad, who put a bet on that we’d win the double (the year we got to both finals and lost!). But how else can you explain our strategy today? Making derisory bids for Millwall’s and QPR’s best players and leaving the Besic negotiations until 4:55pm? We’re clearly weaker than when we started the window, despite having funds to make acquisitions.
  10. No-one is angry about standing up to agents. People are rightly annoyed that everything was left to the last minute. Figures could have been formalised months ago if we were actually serious about making the signing.

  12. Sorry Thomas, The big headline news on MFC website is Ripley has gone to Accrington Stanley on loan. What a *** terrible *** transfer *** window. Oww i missed that one but still you get my point the kids deserve to get there chances and this window has probably forced that for at least 2 or 3 of them. Downing will start ahead of Tav, for some reason I’m sure...
  13. So the £80m we’ve made on parachute payments and transfer fees, plus income from gate receipts and merchandise, plus competition winnings, plus tv money, is all going on player wages? Our players are being massively overpaid!!! Our promotion year we made a huge loss. The year before that we made a huge loss. The year before that one we also made a huge loss. The year in the prem we probably made a profit of less than £10 million. Last seasons accounts are not out yet, but I imagine we made a small loss that year too. We can't keep making loss after loss. I'd rather Gibbo reign our spending in and be cautious but still have a club. Rather than the likes of QPR/Pompey. It’s a good point Dan, but why not come out and say that. All these ‘attempts’ to sign players have just been a tease I know what you are getting at. It does feel very cloak and dagger. But Middlesbrough are run as a private business. Off the top of your head how many private businesses do you know of that come out publicly with their business/financial plans? I suppose as a football club it is different and in my opinion we need some sort of transparency. I think there’s a difference between private plans and bull *** smoke screens. We had well considered targets and today our club, for some reason, only pretended to try and sign them.
  14. I’d love to know where all this money that we’ve been getting the last 3 years is going! 15. Kev, always admire your passion but we’ve a worse squad than last season. We’re staring mid table mediocrity down the barrel and we don’t know why. Where’s the transparency the club promised us? It’s all getting a bit weird.
  16. Sorry Thomas, The big headline news on MFC website is Ripley has gone to Accrington Stanley on loan. What a ***ing terrible ***ing transfer ***ing window.
  17. Spurs? I knew someone would say Spurs but in reality they really haven’t. They’ve kept all their biggest stars and already have a fantastic squad with great balance all over the pitch Plus Spurs are building a new stadium so no signings makes sense. Also they haven’t teased their fans with a load of late activity that had no chance of coming in. #faketransfers
  18. Agree with all of this - except I’d add the twist that the strategy was designed to fail. We wanted to give the appearance of trying to sign players. We’ve done it before. No sane person would have done what we did today if they were actually trying to make the deals happen.
  19. Quote of the day! But what does it mean?! Having a superficially positive appearance that is belied by the reality, e.g., superficially elegant and beautiful but actually common. Thanks B Woof - good knowledge
  20. If we’d have moved at the right time, there would have been no surprises at the last minute with agent fees. I don’t stand by that. Move early and the asking prices are too high. McNair? Flint? Those fees were fine and done early. Wallace and Saville were good targets, but our offer was late and derisory. The scouting team and manager picked good targets, but we didn’t give ourselves a chance of signing them. Selling clubs need time to arrange replacements before committing to sell. Was this all a way of saying ‘hey, we tried but oops sorry we couldn’t get the deals done in time’. We clearly didn’t do what was needed to bring players in. I’d rather the club just come out and say that than put on this pantomime show. Even Pulis will be fuming.
  21. Quote of the day! But what does it mean?!
  22. If we’d have moved at the right time, there would have been no surprises at the last minute with agent fees. I’m not convinced we went all out to make the deal happen.
  23. I'm sure we can still work it out with Besic with a loan to buy, but it seems like we just didn't get things done, leaving it all too late.
