  1. B for me. I think his remit is pretty clear next season - top 6 minimum. If not we part ways mutually much like we did with Pulis.
  2. The Athletic posts some great stuff like this. Of course none of it really counts for anything but its nice to do some amateur analysis of. You'd imagine we have someone doing it within the club. Plenty to work on next season but plenty of positive signs too. PS. For £1 a month for first 6 months I can't understand why anyone wouldn't subscribe to the Athletic, its just so far ahead of all other football journalism.
  3. Did all that with my first, he loves pigbag. No idea what made my try Blaydon Races with the second. But now I sing it to him about 10 times a day, through gritted teeth.
  4. I actually played that to my eldest son to get him to sleep as a baby. Should have stuck with that one.
  5. My youngest son is 8 months old. Back when he was about 2 months old I was messing about with him in my arms to try and stop him crying and for some reason, I honestly don’t know why, I asked Alexa to play the Blaydon Races thinking he might like the rhythm etc. Foolish I know. But it was one of a number of “folksy” type tracks I played during that period. 6 months on and he is now in his own room, not the best sleeper so needs a fair amount of cuddles in the night. But often, I have to sing to him and the only song that gets him back to sleep is the Blaydon Races! What have I done?!? I k
  6. Well, since you've asked, 2 of the list are ex-Boro......
  7. TBH I do find it hard to navigate this site, mainly cos of the really long threads. I actually thought (though hadn't checked) that the non-Boro bit was just one long thread.
  8. He did fail to qualify for a world cup though, which is the only time its happened since the 70s.
  9. Wow, what a confrontational response. I didn't 'make it up', though the perception may not have been unanimous.
  10. He had a good squad available to him too.
  11. As likeable as he was, this is a common myth about the former England manager's failure to get through the (fairly easy) Euro 92 group (and subsequent failure to qualify for the 1994 World Cup). This is often cited because superstar midfielder Paul Gascoigne had famously sustained a terrible injury the year before, and Tony Adams, Paul Parker and John Barnes were also injured for the tournament. However, here are the fit players he left out of Euro 92: Gary Pallister - PFA Player of the Year, but chose Keith Curle instead Chris Waddle - at the time a regular starter for one of
  12. I wasn't saying he didn't do anything good after his first two years, but once the Charlton fiasco had passed it did feel like the love for him had subsided a little, and I do think it had an impact on our Premier League season indirectly. Two years is a long honeymoon period though, most don't get anywhere close to that as we've seen with Wilder! TBF Aitor got us 4th in his first full season, I don't think that's beyond Wilder.
  13. I think there is often a honeymoon period but it rarely lasts for a long time. With Karanka, it did last for a good 2 years I'd say, maybe with Wilder its only six months (which isn't really any longer than Warnock's) but the fact he's had one at all, when Woodgate, Pulis and Monk didn't, is probably a good sign. I've no doubt at all we can be competitive next season and am already looking forward to it. The Burnley thing was a bit annoying but I see it as no more than a minor blip.
  14. Ballsed it up didn’t we. Still, Wilder sounds like he’s gonna be ruthless this summer and that means he’s the right man for the job imho. Glad the talk of Burnley has all gone away, I think he still has the backing of the fans and hierarchy. It’s going to be an interesting summer.
  15. Home fans booing the referee for not sending off their own goalkeeper must stick in Guzan's memory as a career highlight of sorts.
  16. This is the third time in the last 10 years we've been in almost exactly this position, needing an away win on the final day and hoping other results go our way to sneak into the play-offs against the odds. (The other occasions being 2012 at Watford and 2019 at Rotherham). Arguably, this is the 'best' position we've been in of the 3, as there are 2 teams who could mess up rather than just one, and one is playing a very, very good side. Amazing to think we've only finished in the top 6 on 3 occasions since this 'era' of almost perpetual Championship football started in 2009. Coul
  17. Part of the issue with that though is that the 'stars' we've had over the past 15 years (and therefore still capable of playing a few minutes) are quite limited in terms of popularity. Once we've had Grant Leadbitter back who else is there? Maybe Jason Euell would put in a shift?
  18. Pretty much my thoughts. I don't really care whether he is thumping his chest kissing the badge or pledging his entire career to the club etc, I want him to stay but I'd be over it in about 20 minutes if he left (as would be the case with almost any manager). I think he at least considered the Burnley job, but I don't hold it against him (some fans will, and that's life I'm afraid). If results are good enough then he'll do for me. Sadly, results have been rubbish during April and we'll probably not make the play-offs now, can we improve on last season's 10th place? I certainly want to see
  19. Indeed, but a tenner here and there does nothing to the odds at all.
  20. I know, but when you say “one good size”, you’re talking VERY big aren’t you?
  21. And the amount of money clearly staked on him to be as short as 1/3 odds on favourite.
  22. Judging by his use of the phrase “all in”, can we be sure he isn’t about to leave to take Shane Warne’s place on the world poker tour?
  23. I still want further clarity. Maybe he could sign a new contract in his own blood?
  24. Probably. I don’t think my above supposition would necessarily be a bad thing. Maybe he’s convinced Steve to cough up a few more quid! 😁
