  1. Offloading Rhodes so soon won't make any sense. It's like expecting Lonesome George to find a wife on his own. The main problem behind the Rhodes in 4-2-3-1 lies in a lack of an effective 2nd striker in the hole. Ramirez is a 10, not a false 9. The nearest bloke who can play as the false 9 behind Rhodes will be Kike II. Given how he had to endure the nightmare last time round, I'm not sure if AK will want to play with fire. It's always extremely damning if you're forced to choose between form and tactical needs instead of both. Either way, we'll need to play compact and upfront if we're to try
  2. But that will risk isolating Juke if our wingers cock up. Put Leadbitter in the centre with Whitehead manning the fort and Varga bolting forth however...
  3. I think he's been used as a CM who breaks up play and pass the ball immediately. Shooting on cue is merely part of the big picture.
  4. That will only further reinforce my take that Sheff Wed relies heavily on fast break-and-counter football. We're not talking abt someone like Jordi Alba, there has to be something in the tactics which enable Johnson to score 17 goals in 58 games. And we're talking abt the Championship where physical football just got upgraded.:dodgy:
  5. Can't be bothered to browse thru 11 pages, so here's my take: Firstly, Leadbitter is not an attacking player. He's also not someone who can hold up play like Whitehead. Mileage wise, he's no Varga while versatility wise, I'd prefer Smallwood due to his ability to anchor the ball upfront as well. Secondly, what Leadbitter can offer is your bread-and-butter counter-passing. And by that, I do not mean someone passing the ball backwards. Rather, he's our best bet in pulling the trigger. In short, he's there to win the ball and pass the ball. imo this may be why he's our most consistent player
  6. Mogga once said teams will be parking their German buses across the pitch at our stomping ground. Normally, Dave Jones would prefer a flat 4-4-2 since that will give him more options for the firing squad. However, given that team morale is at a possible low, chances are that he will go 4-5-1. After looking through Sheff Wed's team sheet, I discovered his 4-4-2 will always involve everybody closing down the space, after which fast counter-raiding will be launched. This is maybe why his fave strikers tend to be fast and physical. Yet, due to my prior analysis, my guess is that preventing a
  7. I'd say having Emnes and Muzzy switching position might work. One bloke at the flank and the other behind the main CF. This will be where Varga will come into play b/c he's more of a hard running tackler. Key factor is down to where/when Muzzy will run straight into the box.
  8. Are we Barnsley? :P You can try asking ppl who was the bloke bossing Burnley before he jumped ship to Bolton. ;)
  9. http://www1.skysports.com/football/live/match/300380/teams Gonna have fun w/this lmao!
  10. Go ask Bryan English. :D My first thoughts on the game: Wigan: 4-4-2, surely we have to give Coyle the credit for having balls of steel. Us: 4-1-4-1, Mogga's opting defensive here. A good formation if your CF is fast enough, but Juke ain't that kind of player. However, I believe we got the answer to our defensive woes in terms of open play. And bloke's not even part of the back 4 lol! On Muzzy having an off day, I won't be swift to crucify him. If he gets crocked again, we might need to recall Reach. But then again, we have Halliday on backup, so I won't fret too much given lad's als
  11. I'd field Leadbitter and Varga if so then. Leadbitter to man the fort behind while Varga can cover an insane amount of space. If it's Leadbitter and Whitehead, then imo it should be Haroun playing the linkup instead. As for the debate on Juke, I don't have any problem with either way since we alrdy got Adomah.
  12. That can leave a lot of unwanted space behind the attack if we're not careful. Juke is not really that much of a goal poacher, but more of a CF capable of holding up play. Emnes problem was down to NOT having the correct guys at the wing. Granted Muzzy solves one half of the puzzle, but what about the other end? Mogga prefers players versatile enough to play in more than 1 position. If there's any exception, you can be very sure it's down to actual tactical needs. In short, Adomah is a specialised right winger capable of cutting in from the flank. Need I say anything more?
  13. Good to see you posting again BS welcome back:) I suddenly discovered I've created a self-deprecating moniker in terms of abbrev lol! :P yes tickets on the gate with it being a sunday i think youll be ok most places i think this is one of the problems, marvin wants to play behind the stricker and link up play and mogga wants him to play off the shoulder of the defenders and use his pace ffs we need someone to do just that. One of our more glaring failures last season was down NOT having a player of that nature/calibre. McEachran was supposed to plug that gap,
  14. My take on Coyle's formation will be 4-5-1. Not much diff from 4-3-3 since the teams under him thus far had the tendency to go 4-5-1 upon defending rather than 2 flat banks of 4. Even if he's starting 4-3-3, it will only mean the same logic. 4-3-3 requires space to attack right from the get-go. While it will work for teams content to stay behind or in the middle, it won't give us any disadvantage b/c we're a team thriving on space, movement and passing. As for the key men for Wigan, all I can say is this-pressure will def come from the flanks where overlapping FBs/attacking wingers will be
  15. imo the only for Mogga to go is 1 out of 2: 1. A better manager comes along and he throws in the towel 2. A barren run of 3-4 matches next season Either way, let's not forget Strachan actually left us on mutual consent. A vast reversal of fortune post Jan is nothing short of an anomaly given how things have panned out ever since Mogga took over. And the scariest thing is that everyone has his own story and views. :(
