  1. First time going to an England game (guilted into it), noticed the band only piped up briefly 3 times through the whole game, is this just a friendly thing or are boro just blessed with a particularly relentless drum section?

Barlaser is a good footballer being asked to do something I don't think he's overly comfortable with. But even with that, as you say, he did have a couple of stand out performances. I think most people who know football can see there's a player in him if used right.

What if you don’t know football and you think there’s a player in him? Does that make him crap?

I think more than that we need a player in midfield who can see danger early and snuff it out. Nearly all our goals against come as a result of us losing the ball and failing to get back into shape quickly enough. A midfielder who covers effectively and is extremely athletic has to be the number one priority. I know you love howson but he ain't that, and neither is anyone else on our books.

Was saying something similar yesterday,   I’m no great lover of howson but he still occasionally shows quick feet or quick decision to get himself out of trouble, barlaser has neither of those attributes so just gets himself robbed.
I think Barlaser capability in that role was even more exposed next to o’brien yesterday. I originally thought obrien was going to be a replacement for howson but appears to be more a “busy” box to box type.

Our defenders haven’t suddenly become bad players, they’re just getting exposed far too often. so finding a player who can use the ball like howson but also sniff out danger more effectively would also be my priority. Absolutely no idea who’d fit the bill mind…. Claude makalele?

The Clubs model now is to focus on the buy 'em low, sell 'em high market rather than loans.

I think the only loans we would do now would be desperation type and purely on a temp basis with no intention to purchase, maybe we better call Sol.

    Campbell?

  5. Prematch my dad and I were discussing how much the midfield is completely bypassed when we lose the ball - an issue that’s rolled over from back half of last season imo - and whether there was a case for dropping the 10 and going 4-3-3 to add an extra body in there (presumably this O’Brian fella). Post match I think it makes even more sense given that when rogers was in that 10/second striker role he was getting crowded out, either courtesy of his own poor touch or by QPR having numbers in there. Not that I think this was the issue for the two goals but more general observation.

Also how would people feel about coburn getting a start up top? Cant decide myself, think there’d be pros and cons….

  6. Heard 2nd hand from someone who was talking to mogga at a wedding that a lot of people who’ve been around the club don’t like him and think he’s an arrogant *** and he supposedly had applied for /had interviews for Burnley, Stoke and Watford last year.

I would have thought if that was the case there would be murmurs about it and gibbo would’ve been raging. Anyone heard anything similar or to contrary?
