  2. I'm sure even Crown Prince Whatsisface knows better than that. 😂
  3. Sort of fits with what we've been hearing. Manager-wise they don't necessarily want a big name just yet...just someone who can get them to mid-table respectability and lay some foundations. Similar thing player-wise. They're not gonna go daft with the money...just bring in a few new faces to bolster the squad. The major makeover will probably come with the marquee manager.
  4. 1. Are you Warnock in, or would you prefer him gone? I'm happy for him to stay, as sacking him mid-season would mess up the transition to the new manager. 2. Looking at the impact our new signings have had recently, just how good was our summer window? Hard to judge really. They didn't look too clever up until our last 3 games...a bunch of budget journeymen who were simply brought in to provide cover for the first teamers. We've looked good against poor opposition and some of the new guys are starting to establish themselves, but this game will show us if they really are as good a
  5. Thats what we'll ask for, but they'll probably negotiate us down to a bag of McCoys and half a Curly Wurly... 😁
  6. I would imagine any candidates we are interviewing / looking to sign up now are happy to start work next season. Getting in before other clubs make a move may well be a reason for starting early, but it could be their personal circumstances mean they don't mind waiting a few months. Unless Steve has already told Kieran to print off a copy of Warnock's P45...
  7. Ooh so cynical! Anyone would think you didn't trust the executive body of the club to do its job properly... 🤔
  8. Well if the Tweet Brunners posted has any truth to it and we already have Warnock's replacement lined up (or even signed) it may be feasible to bring a few new faces in, if they fit the "Masterplan". Warnock (probably) won't be sacked unless we get dragged into a relegation battle, so it would just be a continuation of bringing in players with an eye on next season. I'm just hoping we get some cover for Bola so that we can play with 4 at the back if the manager fancies it. 3 at the back won't always be the best option. On the whole though I'd agree. Besides the left-back positio
  9. Sounds like Warnock is gonna have to get the team bus fitted with a flux capacitor and go...
  10. If true, thats an awful lot sooner than I expected. Wonder if the club are planning to bring the new guy in for the January transfer window, or are they just getting business done well ahead of time?
  11. Yep - its a tough brief and finding a manager who will tick most of those boxes will be no easy task. I've no problem with another newbie manager, or someone who has only been an assistant at other clubs, provided Scott has done his homework and sees potential. But like you I'd prefer someone with some kind of track record. Getting the right kind of people / personalities is as important as getting the right talent. If you don't have the togetherness / team spirit in the camp, then the talent won't flourish.
  12. Have to disagree with a fair bit of that. For starters you're overlooking the end of Karanka's reign. Started out well but ended pretty badly (and he's shown similar tendencies at other clubs since). Also McLaren is our most successful manager of all time. He oversaw the club win its only major trophy to date and the UEFA Cup run. Okay he may have been given plenty of money to do it, but money doesn't guarantee success. As I recall Robson wasn't exactly short of funds either, but we didn't achieve anything like that under his reign. Doesn't matter if a manager is liked by t
  13. Agreed. It should be noted that very few of our players have seemed to improve under our last several managers. Hopefully with a new manager and competent coaching set-up, Tav (and the rest of the squad) will develop both the technical and mental side of their game.
  14. It is a very competitive league this season...got to have a good or decent round to get a win. I just squeaked a win with a score of 7. I'm expecting my form to drop off a cliff any week now.
  15. While I didn't feel Pogba's challenge was a stone cold red card, I felt he was pretty lenient at other times. Utd could have finished with 9 players. I got the distinct impression the players were actually trying to get Ole sacked. It was like watching some of Boro's worse games of recent times.
  16. Man Utd fans crying into their prawn sandwiches. Man Utd 0 - 4 Liverpool (HT) 😮 This could be the end for Solskjaer (especially if it gets worse second half). Wonder if they'll ask Fergie to come out of retirement?
  17. Hard to argue with that. Only problem is Sol isn't going to be able to play every game...not without wrecking himself anyway. Looked like he tweaked something yesterday, or else had cramp. We will need to bring Fry back to take on some of the work load. If only he was 5-6 years younger... Agree its nice to see the new guys starting to bed in and establish themselves in the team. Gives us hope going forward.
  18. Getting rid of Warnock mid-season was always unlikely...unless we were in a genuine relegation battle. I think that even if you don't like his brand of football, you should still hope he does a decent enough job to allow his successor to come in next Summer, without any pressure or firefighting to be done. 3 wins on the trot against struggling teams who are in even worse shape than we are, isn't quite proof he's turned the corner, but given our injuries and makeshift teams, we could easily have lost them (as we did at Hull). I'm sure this winning streak has been a pleasant surpr
  19. I didn't say they'd be successful... 🤷‍♂️ We tried and failed. Norwich look like they're happy to yo-yo between the PL and the Championship. Plus Boro until very recently didn't do long-term planning. We just spent and hoped. I was simply suggesting Norwich could try extending their ambitions a little further, without completely tearing up their business model. Also registering some surprise that their plan doesn't apparently allow for a serious attempt at staying up.
  20. I was one of those who slated the club for bringing an "over the hill" player in. In fairness, there aren't many guys his age who could put in the performances he's done. Currently on my second helping of humble pie... 😉
