  1. I would have to agree Curt.Plus is Emnes really all that good that we should keep him? He's a half decent player. Can be lightweight & not consistant.Bit like Lita.If we are in the do do,I don't think we ought to keep him.Wouldn't keep Lita or Boyd either.Got to stretch every £ you can. I can see the Bates angle, coz of the injuries, but why offer him a new contract? It is harder to shift a sicknote. So I think Bates will stay. Unless we get a good offer,McManus should stay.We are more lightweight in defence without him,we don't want to weaken an already suspect department. Old Mac should sta
  2. It is a good article.Sad that Ian Sampson has bit the bullet as manager of The Cobblers. Sad to hear of Danny Wilson's demise alsobut good luck to Paul Hart.
  3. I find ITV's coverage awfull.Chiles must be the biggest waste of money & space.Matt Smith later on showed him how to do a soccer programme. What Steve Ryder did wrong to be bannished from our screens I don't know.Must have been too professional. Robbie was good as a pundit later on also.Even Andy was relaxed & informative.
  4. JC inherited a very good squad and it was basically Stan Anderson's outfit whom by his own admission could not motivate the team any further and so resigned. And JC also made some appalling buys in his time too. TRAPPER Please inform me who those buys were.Rich was right,he wouldn't splash the cash,it wasn't in his nature.Oh,& by the way he left us in a decent position when he left. Was Manager of the Year 1974.No other MFC manager did it. Souness reckoned it was him (JC)& Murdoch who made him the player he was.In a way he reinvented the players.Made the defence into The Iron Curt
  5. I actually think Wolves will struggle, can not see Jarvis staying for a start.Big Mick will have to watch his back if they go down.Do not see Blackpool coming down, they will get enough draws to keep 'em up. People wonder about Boro surving on 15K gates, how the hell are Wigan going to survive? They can't get that in the Premier some days. West Brom will be there or thereabouts.I think West Ham may be the great escapees, If Cardiff fail again,Davy Jones will be in the locker,& the new guy may not be able to rally them so soon. Rich,I did say it would still be a hard league.Norwich &
  6. Always one what? :-/ I was replying to John Horse & his wind up signings.
  7. Then you can look at ***nal & say rotation has done them great harm. When they were The Invincables, they hardly ever changed the side & had great team spirit. I think you have too many injuries now due to overwatered pitchs & poor footwear.
  8. I do not think the Championship will be as competative as this season,it will still be hard.I can not see anyone from Div 1 being as successfull as Leeds & Norwich have been.Of the teams coming down,I do not see anyone being a cert to go back up.Leicester will replace QPR as the money bags. I think if we don't go daft & throw out all the bathwater.Keep a few add a few & jettison the rest if you can.I am mildly optimistic about the next season.
  9. I am in two minds about substitutions.Yes they can interupt the flow if everyone is playing well within themselves,as some say why change?Alas some times complacency creeps in & just when you think its done.Uh Oh! A good manager knows when to replace players.I sometimes think you may need to relieve someone who's had his back to the wall for 3/4's of the game.If the mind is tired, thats when errors appear.Likewise you may need to inject some pep or creativity into the mix. Then you have to think about pulling someone off to prevent injury. I would have put Haas on for the last 1/4,not ju
  10. Yet some Bolton fans still hail Bruce Rioch higher than Big Sam.Sometimes the strict father approach works,or as you say Rich it wanes a bit.Didn't work at ***nal, yet he still got them to Europe & signed DENNIS BERGKAMP. I always think of him as 1 of Boro's best 3 managers. Mac for getting us The Carling Cup & EUFA football. Bruce for being a saviour. & ofcourse Big Jack Charlton. I sometimes wonder if Big Jack had been given the money(pro rata)that Mac & Robbo had.How much more could he have achieved. He got us promotion by a country mile,& got Bobby Murdoch on a fre
  11. Why not?even in a cameo role,he can only gain experience.Plus if he does a Billy Sears,we'le all be happy. So was he also taking us into Europe easily when he got Manager of the Month & then got us RELEGATED?
  12. Strange how he scored with a good header last week for Scunny,& they have a poor supply line.Put the ball on his head & he can score or assist in a score. The only 1 I saw produce a powerful header was Grounds when he scored the other week & he's a defender. Huth before him, another defender. We did have players who could head, but plank Gareth got shot of them all & 1 wouldn't play for him. as for " in fact all are, get rid of all of Strachans signings and would we be any worse? No I don't think so" Very simplistic view.Tell me one GS1 player who had a good game on Saturday?
  13. I wouldn't put your mortgage on it Vin.You will be lucky if 1 does it.Only then if Scotty gets out of midfield.Plus you need someone who can head a ball, and I mean a striker.Oh I forgot,he's at S***horpe.
  14. Thanks Vector, you have restored my faith in human nature.
  15. Come on DS none of that wobbly southern weak chin, get some steel man.As I said in another post Forest couldn't beat The Lions, Boro did.I go with TP & 3 at the back. Starve their forwards & they are donald ducked.I am gettin visions of 2-2,the bottle of Frosty Jack must be open.
  16. What a topsy turvy club this is, in my 50 yrs supporting I haven't seen anything like it. Wheres Brucie when he's needed the only Boro manager that was ever worth his salt. SGT.PEPPER Oh I don't know Sarge,I thought Big Jack was worth his salt. Now there was a tactician!!!
  17. Well I am not glad that Birmingham won.Their 89th min goal was scored by a ex skunk who is on loan to The Blues. So not even a proper City player. They didn't win,***nal didn't really turn up.It was a below strength Gunners team that City still took an eternity to beat. If you like clog then you are easily pleased.
  18. Lets get back to the point. For whatever reason, the Strachan project failed. We needed a manager quickly,we turned to Mogga a previous hero.I had reservations, but I couldn't see SG giving the job to anyone else.So I support Mogga. He took on a megga task. As for Lennon,he kept his job on a wing & a prayer last year. There were many Celtic fans calling for his head.He has done better this term, but is that Lennon suddenly becoming a manager,or rather the demise of Rangers? If kenny Miller is scoring for fun,it says a lot for Scottish football. I want Celtic to win the SPL as they are a good clu
  19. When you are at the top the luck & decisions roll for you,as evident as QPR continued their merry ride to the Prem. It was a bad day at the office,no doubt about that, some players had mares. It happens. You have to remember that we are on our bare bones. Now Davies is out.You have to play Max on Tuesday & pray that Forest are as quiet as yesterday.Hey one of the top forward lines couldn't score against Millwall, yet Boro put 3 past 'em last week.Good days, bad days. Accept them.Attack Forest & they shake. So play 3 at the back & go all out.If you invite Forest to play by standing
  20. Thanks for all your posts.Your advice was usefull. In the end it was down to finance, and BT offered me the best deal ahead of O2.I may swap my mobile to O2. Thanx folks
  21. Get your point Rich.I would go for Hines & Davies,I have never felt confidentof Grounds in centre. If anything I would stick him front, his heading ability is better than our strikers.
  22. Venga boys? Now you are lowering the tone. Myself I prefer FANFARE FOR THE COMMON MAN by ELP
