  1. After Watergate? I’m not sure…if nothing else he should be castigated for the fact that every new scandal has the suffix “gate” after it.
  2. Asuming Howson isn’t yet fully fit I’d leave him on the bench, play Barlasar in his position, move Rogers into the number 10 spot, which I think is his ideal position and try Forss up front. I’d leave zJones on the bench as an impact sub…harsh I know, but we have an embarrassment of riches in those forward positions. Dieng McNair - Fry - Lenihan - Coulson Barlasar - Hackney McGree - Rogers - Silvera Forss
  3. Wow that’s impressive…top research Wilson
  4. Thanks. Another one for you…which keeper has kept the most clean sheets for us?
  5. That sounds good. What was our largest ever attendance at Ayresome Park?
  6. It’s great to have won a game, especially as we very rarely get past the first round of the league cup. Hopefully we can get a decent team in the next round and generate some much needed income. It’s good to be able to talk about a result, rather than all the recent, tedious transfer talk. UTB.
  7. 1. Where do you see us finishing this season? Between 8th and 4th. 2. How many more signings/loans do you expect to see? 2 more, unless we sell anyone. 3. Will Akpom sign a new deal? Not until January 4. How far will we go in the cup I love a good cup run, but I’ve no idea what sort of side MC will pick. 5. Will Warnock come back to haunt us again? He still haunts me! 6 What do you think the result will be? 1-2 to Boro.
  8. It’s great to see 90 minutes of actual football. I think the clubs are missing a trick though…surely a 15% ticket price increase could easily be justified!
  9. I’m sorry to hear that. I used to go to quite a few away games when I lived in London. I moved to Spain for a year and discovered ifollow. When I moved back to the UK I had got out of the habit and had other things I’d rather do with my wife. A year later, Covid hit and I lost my wife to cancer. I’ve not really been that bothered about going to football matches since then. I do enough travelling with my job so a Saturday at home is always welcome.
  10. If you go…check out “Pale Blue Eyes” they are superb.
  11. That’s why it may make sense for us to recruit smartly, develop players and look to the following season or two. I like our recruitment model so far…players with potential who fit our system. I’d like to think that we are following the Brentford/Brighton model, all be it 3 years behind them. I can’t see us going up this year…but that isn’t the be all and end all. I want us to become a sustainable club that plays attractive football. A competitive side that turn a few heads and are a joy to watch. Finally it looks like things have changed, I’m excited for the futu
  12. I don’t think Saints will sell many more players. Their owners will be hellbent on gaining promotion this season. They have funds and don’t need to sell…ffp won’t be an issue if they go up. I think they’ll keep the squad that they have and be top two easily.
  13. We very rarely win our first game of the season. This one’s got nil nil written all over it.
  14. I think we’ve all got a bit set in our ways and are expecting to sign a big number nine, as we would have under Warnock of Wilder. The brand of football that Carrick is trying to get us to play is totally different. Think more slo g the lines of Man City up until last season or Liverpool. They both managed to score tons of goals without a traditional number 9 on the pitch. Open your minds…this is the future!!
  15. I agree totally, what an entertaining series…such a shame about Manchester.
  16. Something like that, apparently. He went off the boil a bit towards the end of the season. Still a good player…but £5m is a hefty fee for the club to spend on him.
  17. Thanks mate…we’ve certainly had a laugh over the years.
  18. I hope you work through your problems @diggerlad07 it’s always been a pleasure to read your posts. I’ve been in situations where I’ve felt the need to leave the forum for a bit and it can do you the world of good. Take care man.
