  1. I think the signs were there at the end me of the first half. We’d had so much possession and eventually scored…we then played the last 5 minutes at walking pace as though we had already won the game. When we came out for the second half I think the players thought they only really had to turn up and carry on in the same vein. Huddersfield had other ideas and got at us straight away, there was a lack of commitment in our tackling for their first and second goals, no one individual was to blame…it almost felt like the players were too complacent and got burned. I don’t think that
  2. I’ve got us second on 87 points…1 point ahead of the blades.
  3. I think you are on your own with this one. Maybe time to look at the bigger picture.
  4. That’s quite a result, how fantastic that the good guy actually wins for a change. I’m actually quite emotional about this, having worked with Gary a few times. Everything that he said was right, this government are xenophobic at the very least. All human beings should be treated as equals and should all have the same rights. As someone that does a fair bit of work for the BBC, I’m relieved that they have climbed down on this. Hopefully Auntie will be more fair minded in the future.
  5. This illustrates the point perfectly. There are no safe and legal routes into the UK for refugees. A channel needs to be opened so that refugees have the option to apply for asylum. If the channels were in place, people fleeing persecution wouldn’t have to go to the desperate measures of taking small boats across the channel, thus negating the need for people smugglers. It’s pretty obvious really. The UK has effectively closed its borders to anyone fleeing persecution. However this policy is illegal and against international law, which means it will never be instigated.
  6. He sounds like a Wild West sheriff.
  7. You are of course right, the quality of the football has no effect on the price, but the more gate money the club takes, helps the club with FFP and means we are able to sign better players, so it’s a bit of a chicken and egg situation.
  8. Cheers. I guess the club have to cover the cost of electricity, just like we all do. I’ve had to put my rates up due to inflation, my clients understand and will pay it, so I suppose it’s fair enough that the club need to do the same. £30 extra over a season isn’t a massive rise really, especially when the football is as good as it is under Carrick. Now if Warnock or Wilder were in charge….
  9. How much are they putting prices up by?
  10. Of course the elephant in the room is the over reliance on VAR in the premier league. I loved the fact that when Archer hit the back of the net and the flag was down, the goal stood and we all went wild, no second thoughts, no checks, just pure happiness. I’m not sure I could enjoy football any other way. On balance I’d love us to go up, but not because of the money…I hate the fact that football has turned into a business rather than a sport. I’d honestly like to keep our current squad and manager and see how they would cope in the top flight rather than sign loads
  11. On balance I’d say yes, I want Carrick to stay with us and build something. I think that we have a good enough squad for the prem, I wouldn’t have said that 6 months ago…but we have a very different manager now. It’s a big ask and I’m not so sure that we’ll make it…but if we do…I’ll be very happy.
  12. I was born in Weston Super Mare, but moved to Southport on Merseyside at the age of 1. I flirted with Liverpool but moved to Darlington at the age of 7. My dad took me to a couple of games at Feethams, but Darlo didn’t do it for him…he grew up watching Bristol Rovers and they had been half decent in his youth. A colleague of my dad’s was a Boro fan, so we went with him and his son to Ayresome Park and the rest is history. Since then I’ve lived in Torquay, Winchester, Southampton, London, Andalusia and now Brighton. I watch Brighton occasionally and I used to watch Southampton
  13. It made more sense to bring Crooks on to be honest. He can hold up the ball and also adds a bit of height defensively too. Bringing on Jones would have made us weaker rather than stronger at that point. I’m sure he’ll get a run out in the future, I wouldn’t worry too much about him. Overall it was a very impressive performance, especially from the defence…they anticipated everything, were cool calm and collected and never looked like conceding. No rash tackles either, Woody has got them playing well as a unit. Archer gives us another dimension in attack, we finally hav
  14. 1. Will we go for this one and field a very strong team or will Carrick use some fringe players and youngsters? I think 6 or 7 of our normal 11 will start 2. What about The Seagulls - Will they field their best eleven or do they think it's a walk over for their reserves? I expect so. 3. Guess the result and the Boro scorers? 1-1 Watmore 4. Have you ever been to Brighton? Yes I live there. 5. Are you going to the game? Nope…I live in Brighton. 6. Will any new signings join in time to get on the bench? No 7. Would a good cu
  15. 1. Unchanged team if all players are fit? Yes please 2. Will the square pegs in round holes create yet another fantastic goal between them? I don’t think that we should be imposing roles on people..it’s almost 2023…we can be who we want these days. Yes one of them might score. 3. How will you spend New Years Eve? I’m off to my best mate’s party. He’s got fireworks and booze…what could possibly go wrong? 4. Guess the result and the Boro scorers It’s got nil nil written all over it unless Chuba gets a goal. 5. Are you going to the game? (then say Hi t
  16. We’ll finish 5th and do well in the playoffs.
  17. Oh man, what a player, the worlds greatest. The people of Brazil will be in pieces, he was a national icon, he was an absolute god over there. RIP Pele.
  18. Fair enough but not me, I never liked him or his style of play, and at the time I got hammered for it…which is fair enough, but I couldn’t see how it could be sustainable. His system was always going to be found out in the Champo in the same way that it was in the Prem. It wasn’t rocket science. I‘m so glad we’ve got a manager that wants to play decent football now. We haven’t had that for years.
  19. Thank you sir. I hope you are feeling a lot better now and I’m glad to be of a distraction. It sounds like you’ve been through the mill and I hope you got the best out of Christmas that you could. UTB
  20. Yes but we had Wilder in charge…I never warmed to him and wasn’t keen on the 3 at the back overlapping centre back system. It was only going to go one way and I was pretty sure that this time next year we’d have a new manager. I’m just glad we bit the bullet and got rid of him. We play much better football under Carrick, don’t you think?
  21. Thanks DS…I was out working in Dubai for a bit, then got back and it was all World Cup this…World Cup that. It’s great to see us really looking decent for the first time in quite a few years, I’m loving Akpom’s run of form and Carrick’s management. What a difference a year makes aye?
  22. Well that was alright wasn’t it? Merry Christmas and a happy new year to one and all. …it’s happening isn’t it?
  23. I do…10 is a lot for a list of managers, there are bound to be a couple of half decent ones..I wasn’t going to list Neal Robbo, Shteve or AK was I? I don’t go back any further than that.
