  1. I'm a huge fan... Been linked with Tottenham and bigger clubs, but could be worth the shot if we promise him first team opportunities.
  2. I love RVdB. Not just because he's a Boro player, but because he's a young footballer who really seems to have his head screwed on. Very pragmatic about his career, very astute in the way he thinks. Top footballers have the right mentality as well talent. Reckon he'll go very far, and it'll be an honour to have seen him in a Boro shirt in the early part of his career.
  3. I reckon that's fair, but also keep in mind he's *very* young for a keeper. That said, I'd say he's better served going on loan for another 2-3 season prior to us considering him a genuine challenge for the Number 1. He's worth keeping in mind in any future investment, but still... Let's be patient with the interest if the future in mind.
  4. Kesler-Hayden is exactly the type of player we need. Can have an impact now, but also has sell-on value. Can play either side of the defence according to needs as well - for the price you'd likely get him for, he ticks a ridiculous amount of boxes. Kesler-Hayden and one of Ayling/Smith and we're sorted throughout defence for next season, and for not a ridiculous amount of money (outgoings depending). KH/Ayling or Smith VdB/Lenihan/Fry/Clarke Engel/Bangura
  5. Good call on Ayling as the McNair replacement. And aye, I mention Kesler-Hayden. He'd be a top signing - can also play either side of the defence. Reuell Walters in the Arsenal U23s would be a great acquisition too, but I'm doubtful they'd let him leave permanently at this point. He's far too highly thought of there I think.
  6. I'm going to say that, if ELL was fit all season, and we were able to keep Rogers for the season, we'd have been well in contention for the Top 6. I know it's very much a case of "if my aunty had wheels she'd be a bike" (SFW version), but still. Very, very excited to see Latte-Lath next term with a acclimatising season behind him and another year of experience. Also - Ayling. Sign him. Bring in a young RB to learn from him. Get rid of Dijksteel and Smith. Sorted for many years to come.
  7. I'm too young to remember the Bruce Rioch era, but I remember him being in charge at Arsenal and my dad waxing lyrical about him. A guy the club owes so much to. Also remember my dad's old Boro videos and those making me want to be the next Graeme Souness 😂
  8. I'm similar in thinking to CT with regards to the striker. Thought perhaps from differing thought processes. It's either a tried and tested, proven CF - or we stick with Latte Lath as the hopeful option. ELL has had a very decent return in the minutes he's played - he looks raw, but 'raw' and that return is encouraging. Unless we can get a tried and tested Champo CF - and/or play 2 up top - then ELL is pure best option. Given his injury, he averages a goal every 186 minutes, which would make 18.4 goals over an entire season. Given he's more bed in, used to the league etc - is 20-25
  9. I know many were expecting more this season, but I am quietly hopeful that our young players will progress and improve ready to hit the ground running next term. Hopefully we see the benefit of the long term strategy. We need to try and avoid what happened last summer - losing time bedding in masses of players. The likes of RVdB, Hackney, Engel, Azaz and ELL should build and strengthen, which is the spine of a team (if we keep them all... Big question marks over Hackney on that front.) So priorities would be a RB, CM, and LW if McGree does leave. I'm hopeful over ELL - 10 goals in a
  10. I'd say similar, but: Ayling Clarke Howson Jones Barlaser O’Brien Engel Azaz Latte Lath Greenwood
  11. Aye, of all those Katongo and Potts are the two I was most excited about in terms of what we need and what they'd provide. Katongo/Ayling and Howson/Potts would both be good options. Though a permanent alternative to Potts would be a bosman Alan Browne, who I'd also be happy with. Marc Leonard would excite me as a potential Hackney replacement though, if it came to that. He looks bloody incredible across the spectrum of all central midfield positions.
  12. I'm sick as a dog so spent some time watching League 1 footage last night... I know I'll get the "NoT tHe LoWeR lEaGuE!" brigade for this, but as highlighted by recent posts there's some real talent in there at the moment. Obviously not players to build a side around, but signing 2-3 who can push for a place could be a shrewd move and profitable in the long term. Marc Leonard is having an amazing loan at Northampton from Brighton. 5 goals and 6 assists from Midfield, and having just turned 22 you'd imagine he'd jump at the chance to join Boro in the summer. A few Championship clubs alread
  13. Poku I did like at Colchester. Can only imagine he's progressed well given his stats at Peterborough. I've not seen much of either recently - not followed Peterborough much, but they do produce talents. Stats alone say they're players I'd be at least expecting us to be scouting for in-depth reports.
  14. Sounds perfect for our track record then! 🤣
  15. Good talent, very raw - but a great shout for a midfield option I reckon. Couldn't see him and Hackney working as a partnership, but think he'd be a good option if Hackney did move on this summer. Would need a Howson type player as a partner, perhaps Alan Browne from PNE.
  16. We could ask the question of Kesler-Hayden's availability. Recalled from a second impressive load spell at Plymouth, though seems unlikely to break through at Villa. Could be worth a cheeky bid in the summer. Calvin Ramsey was highly thought of at Liverpool, but seems to have dwindled recently. He could fit the bill for our recruitment strategy. Young Fin Stevens at Oxford - on loan from Brentford - looks a talent too, though a bit too green to come in as a top priority.
  17. I'd much prefer Norton Cuffy... McNamara hasn't made a single goal contribution this season, and only managed 1 assist in 46 Championship games last season. I know Goal Contribution aren't everything for a FB, but when you're supposedly, a 'forward thinking' full back you'd expect at least a 5 across a full season. Watching Millwall last season too, I don't see anything in his game which suggests he's able to find anything more dynamic, and at 25 that's not encouraging. I'd rather have Ayling as a started than McNamara. But as you say, SR, Norton Cuffy would be a good target, and on
  18. McGree? Between £5m and £6m depending on the structure of the deal for me. If it was up-front money it'd be less, but rarely are deals up-front these days. On other posts - Stanfield in a Boro shirt would get me excited. Think he's the sort of player who'd suit our style of play and also the ethos of the club and our recruitment strategy. RB wise - Jayden Bogle and Luke Ayling would be two good, affordable options for next season. On Shackleton - he provided very little at Millwall last season, and has played only 9 Champo games this season. At 24 he'd be a significant risk giv
  19. The stories of McGree wanting to move on seem to fit with his performances and mannerisms on the pitch. He just doesn't seem to be enjoying it here as much as he was in recent years. He's done well for us though - more than many expected - so I'd be happy to let him move for a tidy profit and look for a replacement with similar opportunity for profitability. Also, for this mentioning Ben Johnson from West Ham as a Free Agent RB option - Tottenham are apparently in for him. Think some.of us on here are being over ambitious with the names being bandied about. Jayden Bogle would perhaps be
  20. As much as I'd love Callum O'Hare, especially on a free, he's seemingly ruled out a move to Celtic or Rangers and has his heart set on a move to the Premiership - Fulham and Everton have both scouted him. So I reckon, sadly, he's a step too far. I'd also like Josh Brownhill - though Burnley are reportedly looking at activating his one year extension.
  21. Lloyd Kelly has already had discussions with Juventus. He's absolutely not playing in the Championship next season. There's a good few names coming up as Free Agents - though what we have to remember as fans is that Free Transfers aren't always necessarily more cost effective as there's generally higher wages, signing fees, and agents fees associated with the deals, which means they sometimes end up just as expensive as regular transfers, in some cases even moreso, which is why you see so many Free Agents being left afloat for months and months.
  22. That's not even remotely true. I've worked in the areas people say "white people cannot go" - Nechells, Lozells, Aston, Balsall Heath - and can tell you categorically that it's bullshit made up by racists who've never even been in those areas, or likely even to the city itself.
  23. I've got to say that moving to Birmingham when I was younger highlighted to me how endemic racism was in Teesside during my childhood. The difference being that then I believe it was caused by ignorance - which is a very loaded term now, but I mean in it's purest form of just not knowing or having experience with, in this case, multiculturalism. Now, though? Boro is far more multicultural - particularly with having the uni - but there's a generation who still thinks in the old ways. Contrary to what CT says, it's not biological - that theory has been proven to be pseudoscience time a
