  1. 3 Outstanding Candidates? Karanka, Phelan and Di Matteo?
  2. Is it on BBC Tees? I've just got some crappy 80s music playing :-/
  3. Pedrag Mijatovic. Was a DoF at Madrid before the Mourinho era, and also played with Katanka at the Bernabeu. Same with Bodo Illgner. My money for his assistant, though, is Ruben De La Red; currently the assistant manager of the Real Madrid Under 19s.
  4. From EG Sport Twitter: "IT'S Aitor. Gazette can confirm Karaka will be next Boro boss"
  5. Proctor and Pears was via AV on Twitter, too: "Believed Mark Proctor and Steve Pears released ready for wholesale restructure by #boro behind the scenes." What is it with us and Ugly managers!? :P
  6. @Aarfy - I agree with that, mate. That's why I felt the need to say he was of a far better Pedigree than the other names I mentioned. If it's going to work - it's going to work damn well! But if it doesn't, it'll be a disaster - and in my eyes it'll only be one or the other without anything in between. Granted, too - I'd rather have Karanka than have brough Southgate, Strachan or Mowbray back! @DS - Very ture; though that's the Premier League. The Championship is a beast unto itself; far more so than the Premiership. If Karanka had gone to Palace, I reckon they'd have stayed up. Genuinely
  7. A very bold appointment from Gibson. And one that I will of course support 110%. But (will probably nark some on here, like) Karanka is the name which has always worried me this whole time... The reason being - the lack of experience in English Football. Zola, RDM and Poyet all performer very well at this level; all had considerable experience in England as players. But then there's Solbakken, who failed miserably at Wolves (aye, played for Wimbledon - but only 6 games). In honesty, Garcia should probably be doing far better than he is with a very strong Brighton side. THAT SAID THOUGH! Kar
  8. Meulensteen's odds have come right in for the Palace job. If Karanka and Meulensteen are their two main contenders, then they've good two very good options.
  9. Used to play at Marton FC alongside David Wheater. Was always a safe bet that the lad was goin to make it. Also used to be trained by a couple of Boro Old-Boys; Jim Platt and Frank Spraggan. Frank especially was a great guy and very knowledgable. Met Mark Schwarzer a couple of times - very nice guy. Always had time for fans. Also met Stewart Ripley as a kid - my Dad had his insurance at the CIS. Met Mikkel Beck when he was rushing out of the Riverside after signing his contract; though he didnt speak a word of English! And saw Brian Clough just a few months before he died. He w
  10. Well I kept my WBA job... Just! After all but challenging for the Champions League last season, this was a small disaster... 14th in the Premiership - only mathmatically safe after 36 games - out the first round of both domestic cups and a place in the last 16 of the Europa League. Had a last ditch clear out on the final day of the January window after a series of bad results, which seemed to give us a little impetus in the back end of the season.
  11. Found an auto save of my WBA game about 2-3 months back from the crashed one; discovered that it was my signing Kyle Walker which seemed to crash the game :-S Kept Sam Byram at RB instead and it's past the crashing point, so fingers crossed. Doing well in the Europa League - Came 2nd in our group, Joint on points with Roma and Ajax, though have taken 4 points from Ajax we qualified for the knockout stages. The league has been less kind... Sitting 10th at the moment. 4 wind, 7 draws, 5 losses - 7 points off the top 6. I think starting Unemployed is the way forward with new games... If

  13. The more I think about it, the more i'd like Karl Robinson... Good record at MK Dons, young, hungry, eager to prove himself at a higher level and has operated very well under strict finances at the stadium:mk. Ravanelli's favourite with the bookies now... Please God no...
  14. Well peeved... My WBA game crashed and now the file just won't load! Will never know how we'd have fared in the Europa League :@ So started a new one - Unemployed, Sunday League rep. Was offered the Bohemians job straight after an interview on Day Two with them languishing at the bottom of the Irish Premiership. 12 games left, only lost two and got a heap of draws with a few wins; stayed up after beating Finn Harps in the Relegation Play-Off. Then my rep seemed to increase and I got offered interviews with Hartlepool & Cheltenham, ad ended up being offered the MK Dons job after Robin
  15. Just sold Ahmed Musa to Shakhtar Donetsk for £17.25m + 50% of next profit. Signed him for £1m last summer... Sold Vladimir Weiss for £9.75m, Craig Dawson for £6m after he threw a strop, same with Romeu fro £6.25m, Thorgan Hazard for £2.2m after signing him on a Bosman in December... So far brought in £49.36m in transfer fees in pre-season! Signed Jack Butland, Kurt Zouma and three wonderkids - all on bosman deals. Also signed Douglas Costa for £5m and Adam maher for £3.8m. Rolling in money at the moment :P
  16. Finished 6th with WBA in the 2016/17 season. Very happy with that; though it did look at one point like we could've got a top 4 finish and Champions League football before a 3 game ban for Fernando came whilst playing the teams around us... Europa League for us next term! :D Boro, incidentally, finished 20th in the Championship - 9 points clear of the bottom three. Jewell's just signed a new 2 year deal with us, too.
  17. Whoop! Nice one :) I'm loving this game so far (Sorry BiB!). Some really nice little additions have made it far more realistic; the FFP, agents owning percentages of players in South America, the improved press interactions, speaking to players hen they're leaving... All nice little touches. Also helps that I'm doing well with West Brom! Currently in the January transfer window and sitting pretty in 4th. A way off United and Spurs at the top, but battling with Chelsea and ***nal for that 3rd spot. My squad: GK - Yann Sommer RB - Sam Byram CB - Frederik Sorensen CB - Craig Da
  18. My save from the Beta is fine... Not experienced that bug!
  19. I'm sure Wolves fans said this same in October 2012... It's the Championship. I'd not rule anything out, personally. Promotion or relegation.

  21. I'm approaching February in the third season. Still at WBA despite being linked with job abroad like Lazio, Roma, Wolfsburg etc. we started immensely and could've gone top if we beat Leeds - but alas, did not. A small squad, considerable injuries and a decent cup run have dented our challenge for the Euro spots, but were sitting tidily in 10th and my job status is Very Secure. Brought in Nick Powell on a season long loan after the last pre-season update, and he's doing alright. In January, I've managed so far to bring in Michu for £1.9m with his Swansea contact being up in 6 months. Ap
  22. Aye, I foresee a similar outcome. If Venus does alright in those half dozen games, I see him being offered a month-by-month rolling contract which gives us the flexibility to offer the job out if a stand-out candidate becomes available. If Venus doesn't do well, then I see it being offered to Phelan.
  23. Quite frankly, i've given up on looking at the odds as an indicator of our appointment... It's all pretty much money-making tactics from the bookies for me. Open with Pulis as massive favourite, people shove loads of money on him. Suddenly Phelan's odds are slashed dramatically - encourages loads of money on him. The Venus' odds begin to drop - more money goes on him. As if from nowhere, McLeish is made favourite with some - more money. Then Aitor Karanka enters from left field. Yet more money. *** them :P
