I was thinking this the other day, and could only think of Crooks still being here but didn’t double check. But yeah…that’s absolutely embarrassing tbh, and is why I can’t get to excited about any signings that we were after last summer. Not saying they will turn out poor, but I have absolutely no faith in our recruitment team as it stands. Hopefully Wilder and Scott are only signing off on good players.

Yeah Mowatt is very similar to McGree in his play style. He won’t bring the energy or athleticism that we miss from Tav.

How come no articles have came out from this mornings press conference yet?

Mowatt has always had the ability to be one of the best midfielders in the league. Fingers crossed we see the best of him and Wilder can improve him like he did Tav. If he does we’ve got an excellent player for this level. I’m not so sure that he adds the athleticism missing in midfield though.

@Smogzilla, apologies if you’ve been asked this before but what role do you have with the youth teams? You are always clued op on the youngsters and seem to get to every game. Understand if you prefer not to say aswell.

Yep I agree. The team and staff need to start putting some wins together to get a feel good factor back. At the moment it’s as you say very flat, no signings, a paper thin squad, and most importantly no wins and poor performances.

Yep, this game would have been good to get a win under our belt. If we lose on Sunday it’s not going to look nice on social media etc. Not arsed at all about being knocked out tonight but bigger picture doesn’t help.

Yeah it just doesn’t make sense to me though. Don’t see any situation where I’d prefer Fry over McNair at LCB. It’s not like he’s left footed either. Oh well.

I’d have McNair at LCB over Fry every day of the week. Not sure what’s changed over the summer to change that.

Even though Lenihan isn’t the tallest for a CB, he’s very good in the air. He’s actually won the most aerial duels out of every championship player over the first two match weeks with 16.

He’s right footed so don’t really see why we’d want to loan another right sided biased CB. As you say though the link prob bs.

In my opinion, the jury is still well and truly out Steffen. Hasn’t done a lot to impress me so far and looks prone to making daft individual errors. I hope he comes good but I think there has been too much expectation around him purely because he was City’s no.2.

I’d just be amazed if he dropped down to the championship after the season he’s had with Forest, but I guess you never know.

Don’t mind giving Akpom a chance as he’s looked bright so far. I’m just concerned he’s never going to get the goals. Not the end of the world if he’s our 4th/5th choice striker though.

I think that’s what we need as well. A lot of work to be done! I also want them 2x midfielder to be first 11 quality so they can really be pushing to start. Not just squad fillers like the likes of Smith (nothing against Smith or the signing).

I get it’s frustrating but this is the complete wrong attitude to have and is exactly what FC Groningen want us to do. Also what I presume is around £2-4million isn’t ‘penny pinches’.

Having a ‘physically gifted defensive midfielder’ isn’t going to a change a thing in that scenario. Wilder wants his 6 to get involved in the attacking build up play. It would help if Jones stops needlessly giving the ball away. No defensive midfielder is going to catch Willock when he past you by 5m. The only player that can catch him is Jones and he decides to go to ground and make a pathetic attempt at at a tackle. The photos you show is what’s known as a ‘break’ in football and happens numerous times every game against all teams in every division. Its even a 4v2 in the first photo yo

You absolutely have to take Willock down there and get a yellow card. You can’t let a man of Willocks quality freely run at the defence like that. It’s naive from him and he’s being too nice.

Crooks is so bad at winning headers considering his height.
