I can see the logic here, especially if McGree is pushing for the chance to take the next step. It's what we are doing. And it would be nice to get Pritchard. We were always linked with him when at Brentford. He would play those passes for Lath that the others didnt yesterday.

Sounds weird that we didn't give him the number 9 if he's intended on playing that position. He's too expensive to be backup or played out of position. Of course he could have had a personal wish regarding the number. But maybe we're not bringing in someone to play a specific number 10 like Chuba but more of a floating striker besides a box player.Â
He is our Number 9

Anyone any idea when we will get a Chuba announcement?
Also, I presume we are expecting all the clearances for Engel and Lath before the weekend.Â

Interestingly again we don't seem to have any training videos this season so far really. I'm guessing there are things they don't want folk to see - players and tactics.

I've now decided that the club are waiting to announce Akpom's sale, and then will announce Engel and Lath to ease the blow after.
I said this to my son last night. All will be tied up together in terms of announcing them I think.

I know its a slim chance but will we still try for Archer if Latte signs I can see us trying for 2 strikers but thought he'd be an alternative to Archer.
The longer Archer goes without a move the more chance I think we have. If we have the Akpom money as an additional set of funds, I can see us going for it. Someone somewhere did say Gibson had given the ok to use the Akpom money for Archer.

Would far rather coburn get consistent minutes in league 1 than sit on the bench here. We're after 2 number 9s so he'd be third choice.
I heard on Saturday he was going to Plymouth on loan if things pan out as we want them to.

To be honest to a degree Coulson was made to be the scape goat and singled out initially, he had a good game against Huddersfield we maybe being a bit harsh on the lad. There is a decent player there who needs some encouragement imo
I think it's terrible the bile towards Coulson. In both league games we have been much worse defensively when he has gone off. And I'm not blaming him for not being Giles, which seems to be folks main problem. When Engel plays, gets an assist but we let in 3 all from down his side will folk still blame Coulson. Bonkers.

I’ve just been told that we want another LB and Coulson is going back to Scotland.
That's a terrible mistake in my opinion. I actually feel sorry for the lad that Carrick doesn't value his performances at all.

I dont want to see any side with coulson in it. I'd rather play 3 at the back and have Jones and mcgree as wingbacks .
Â
Coulson needs to be loaned or flogged quicker than payero or coburn. If that mesn bringing two lb in then do it. We can't be expected to keep clean sheets with two defenders and no cdm
Â
Coulson was one of if not our best players today. McGree was again hopeless when brought on. People need to accept that Coulson is decent at his job.

Coventry or Sheffield United 🤣?
I'm amazed anyone does business with Sheff Utd. They owe their players promotion bonuses. That in itself would normally invoke a transfer ban would it not? Or does it need the players to kick off about it formally?

I'm hoping there will be on the day sales. I tried to fight my self control and lost.

Interesting one this. Clearly a good player. But for the investment he would be a starter. Is he the Howson replacement?

I wonder if we will invest as much time into developing Gilbert as we have Hoppe.
I think they thought Hoppe might be ready, given his past experience. Maybe thought with some TLC he would come good. He just looks not of the right standard or style for us though.

Isn't Morgan and/or Gilbert the replacement for Chuba? So like McGree was bought to replace Tav, one of them would ideally step into the Chuba role.Â

I don't think we'll finish above 10th with the squad the way it is right now.
Bunch of untested loaned in kids isn't going to change my opinion on that (though they may turn out brilliant like Archer).
Just feels like another wasted opportunity from the club right now.
The feel around the place and on social media is so pessimistic right now, which is mental after how thrilling the first 5 months under Carrick were.
Well aware I've contributed plenty to that pessimism before anyone jumps in 😂
I think the club are managing expectations well. Teams that fail in the play offs often have a hangover at the start of the next season. I expect us to start to motor around September. Until then it's about the players getting to know the style and the young ones getting used to first team football. I'm sure we will be there or thereabouts come May.

IF, and it's a big if, we are consolidating and building this year, what happens with Carrick? I think his contract is until the end of the season. If that's the case, do we look to see where he is at in January in terms of sticking with us and building both our squad and his reputation? It could be really good for both but equally he might want to go for a role with more funds - so whoever gets relegated from the prem next year or if one of this season's 3 don't go up.
Interesting times.Â

I'm expecting a signing today or tomorrow. No idea why.Â

I often wonder what another sustained period of success would look like to us these days. Mostly in terms of the impact it would have on growing the club. Would we see an influx of new fans like the 90's? Would be capitalise on the global impact of the Premier League. What changes would we make to the structure of the club, the stadium, retail, sponsorship, academy, training ground? Are we geared up to capitalise if we did win promotion and stay in the premier league?
We can dream..Â
I think it would take 5 years of being in the premiership to make significant changes. If we get there in the next 2-3 years I think we could have another decade of holding our own.
