It's becoming more of an issue for clubs to be fair. It's getting harder for bigger clubs to recruit managers who are under contract because compensation fees for managers are shooting up. A few teams have sniffed out gaffers recently and been put off by the numbers. There's a bit more security for clubs than before. It scuppered Sunderland's plans when they sacked Mowbray, they had to resort to managers out of work and Beale was the "best" option. Schumacher from Plymouth to Stoke happened of course, but Stoke are experts at p!ssing money up the wall.

There's massive pressure on next season now. On both individuals and the club as a whole. Carrick still has a lot to prove in my opinion. He had a great first year but I think overall this season he has had a tough time of it. I fully accept that the squad has never been capable of matching the heights of last year. He's also had his hands tied for several games by horrific luck with injuries. However, I feel it IS capable of a better showing than we have seen so far. I've said it in another thread, but yeah absolutely. This is one situation where we've missed Lenihan. He would have been on Gyabi there to at least put pressure on his pass attempt.

He could be a little tighter but, as you say, it looks like he's thrown off by Gyabi being all alone in the middle. Regardless of whose playing that's unacceptable at this level.

Yeah I'd be extremely reluctant to throw Lenihan in unless its for a few minutes here and there to help his recovery. I think we've really missed his leadership in defence this year. Yes, we shipped a fair few goals last year too, but his front-foot aggressive defending has been missed IMO. I don't think that second goal from Saturday happens so easily with him playing.

The defending for the second goal is so unbelievably bad. Gyabi being able to turn in midfield, completely unchallenged, is criminal. Barlaser appears to be marking nobody. Rav is then done by Hardie. Awful stuff.
