Monk didn't really have a plan at all. His idea was to throw a lot of money at players that looked good on paper and hoped it worked out. He was like a kid in a sweetshop with money to burn.

I'm back to my usual one game at a time outlook for the season. It's much less stressful that way. I like what Woodgate has said and done so far. If the recruitment team has let him down, he'll just have to do the best he can. I'll back him and just see what this season brings. I am a little bit disappointed as I thought we'd bring in a couple more names today but we can't change it, so onwards and upwards.

We all knew the club had no money. I do feel for Woodgate because I feel he could have made a go for promotion this season but it's going to be mid table for us this year. I like what I saw at Luton, however, so the season is probably going to be better than the last two.

The club doesn’t have the finances anymore to be strong armed into overinflated deals, loans or permanents, anymore. The club will probably try until 5 to get the player Woody spoke about yesterday, we’ll just have to see then.

We can’t. We made enquiries and our interest waned after the price. The player has probably just reiterated that he doesn’t want a long distance loan move and we’re mentioned as we made an enquiry.

I’m trying to be laid back about things. Woodgate seems to know the type of player he wants, I’ll get behind whoever gets brought in regardless of personal reservations.
