  1. So how much abuse should they take for not working before you give in I think it would work, two of those players are playing already so there's only Bamford that would need to find his rhythm anyway. You could play the same back four, the same 2 in midfield if you want. You could play Downing in the hole and Braithwaite and Bamford coming inside from wide positions supporting Assombalonga. It isn't that much different. You could be mega defensive and bring Clayton on for Howson and Forshaw on for Downing or mega offensive and bring Traore on for Downing. It'll never happen und
  2. Id pick Bamford, Britt and Braithwaite as a front three and make it clear to everyone that they are going to play together for as long as it takes to reach an understanding. Those three players would walk into virtually every team in this league apart from Wolves.
  3. I think having a coach/manager that fits the club is a good idea. A criticism I'd have of the club is that we don't seem to have a philosophy of what type of club we want to be. If you go back to McClaren we had a defensive manager with a big budget to sign big name players. Since then weve had: Southgate - minimal budget by comparison tasked with playing more attacking football and having a younger team. Strachan - the Scottish experiment/ team of men/ big budget. Tried to be pragmatic. Mowbray - Hardly any budget/ worked with large restrictions. Tried to play open attacking fo
  4. I'd agree with all of that, what I'm saying is if we give him two more transfer windows which is what was suggested earlier he'll leave us in a right mess. After buying the likes of Shotton and Fletcher it leaves me a bit concerned. Some of our signings have been baffling (Especially the two you mention, and the amount we paid. £7M for Fletcher OMG)!! I can't argue with you on that. But that's not a new thing, and might not be entirely down to Monk. In the same way that Guedioura probably wasn't one of AK's signings?? There seems to be something odd with our recruitment policy.

  6. That's why I couldn't be bothered with the Karanka argument again... Onto the present, I said that if Monk gets another year which is what people are suggesting I think he'll set us back as far as Strachan did. It's a prediction so it's not rubbish unless you can see into the future.
  7. We've had a shift on here from everyone telling me I'm wrong a few weeks ago to everyone just seemingly being resigned to failure. Monk is on course to set the club back as far as Strachan did, trust me we won't be hanging on to our better players this summer. Do you think the likes of Gibson, Braithwaite and Assombalonga want to play the rest of their careers in this division? Not a chance. Monk is not about to set the club back as far as Strachan did. We're still in the play off spots and a have squad mainly of sellable assets. We'll probably be around the play offs come the end of
  8. Not at all but can we justify maintaining a formation where we have only one threat? Neither Fabio or Friend have really stood out showing that they deserve the shirt. It's only by virtue of Friend having not been good that Fabio gets in for me. Fabio hasn't been consistently good by any means. Good point and to answer your question - No. Christie has looked like our only outlet at times and a decent opposition manager will be able to nullify that.

  10. I think if that happens the next manager will have a massive job to turn things round. I think Clayton, Bamford and Traore will be gone by then, Ben Gibson will leave in the summer and we might struggle to hold onto Assombalonga if we dont go up. I don't trust Monk to replace those players and his destruction job will be complete. Clayton, Bamford and Traore might be gone, but I wouldn't personally put that as the end of the world. Would Gibson get his move after an average season? Don't think we'd sell Assombalonga either tbh. I'm not saying its the right thing to do keeping Monk,
  11. Yeah definitely mate, if we don't go up this season, and we start next season like we did this one, I think he'll get the bullet then. 13. Are you losing faith with Monk now BD? I never had complete faith nor did I write him off. I didn't know much about him before he came here, but I just wanted something different from our last manager and someone who knew the league and what it would take. I was hoping that three wins on the bounce and a 2 week break would have us return fresh and with a will to win and desire to get into the top two. We showed none of that yesterday and zero atttacking prowess and that falls back on Monk. I do believe that he will get us into the play offs but likely in 5th or 6th and that really isn't e
  14. I'd be trying to get Tony Pulis now he's available, him or Allardyce would get us promoted and establish us in the Premier league. The football purists on here will probably criticise me but it isn't exactly Barcelona football with Monk either is it? We're actually less potent going forward now than we were under Karanka.
  15. Do agree with Humpty partly here. Thought we were out muscled out ran and out played in the middle of the park. Leadbitter should of cleared out Roofe for the 2nd goal without doubt. That said I thought we lacked fight all over the pitch today. We made them look better than they are. So pedestrian with the ball and the tempo from us was abysmal. Both full backs looked shot of ideas and confidence and I think once Jansson left one on Tavernier he disappeared as well. Why can’t one of our players do that to opposing players. I know it’s crude but it works. Thought Britt and Braithwaite were mars
  16. Brum are garbage away from home so we'll win. We'll probably lose against Derby after that.
  17. George Friend hasn't lost his hunger, trust me I've seen him training on his own in his own time. If anything he works too hard. Maybe he's not the player he was but you're wrong to question his attitude. Ok ill accept that because i have not seen him train but you got to admit to an outside view it may look that way. What do u reckon it is with friend in your opinion? is it that he isnt the player he was or did karanka get the absolute max out of him in the championship or has he lost his confidence when he was in the prem. I don't know why he's not the same player, it could be a co

  19. I agree with most of that, I'm just not sure Fabio is much of an improvement. For all his effort and endeavour his positioning frightens the life out of me defensively.
  20. I've always been a big George Friend fan, I was arguing his case still earlier this season because i thought he'd come good. Unfortunately he just looks like his legs have gone completely. The thing that worries me is that I think we need to spend more money in January and if we did get promoted we'd need about 8 or 9 new players. That's after spending 50 odd million in the summer.
  21. I think we've picked up points because we've got better individual players than most other teams, against teams like QPR all our players on the bench were better than their starting 11. It was like Moyes at Man United he was going to win games regardless of how well he managed the group. I haven't saw us play well and control a game for anywhere near 90 mins this season. Think of a game in the past where everyone walks out of the ground in agreement that we've played well from start to finish. Looking back through our league results in the promotion year, these stand out to me: Bol
  22. It's so frustrating, I just expected so much more from this season. I know people on here will think I've got something personal against Monk (I haven't), but I think if we give him another couple of transfer windows in charge of this club he's going to set us back years.
  23. I can't argue against Hull because I didn't see the game. I don't think we were that great against Burton at home, we just met a really poor team with lots of injuries. You can only beat what's in front of you mate. The table doesn't lie. I think 6th is a fair reflection of what we've been. We've been nowhere near good enough for the top 2 and that shows by the fact we're 10 points behind, but we've been alright enough to scrape a position in the top 6. You need to have played well at least a few times to be in the top 6. I think we've picked up points because we've got better in
