Think injuries haven’t helped Jones this season. Hopefully we will see a better version next season if he stays fit

Unfortunately we can copy and paste that analysis onto almost everyone this year!

    Unfortunately he's going

Makes sense. Everything with him has felt... not quite right this season since the rumoured failed move last year. Good luck to him, I think he's one of the best players we have but honestly we shouldn't be keeping people who don't want to be here, for me at least.

Forgot Ayling is actually here on loan from Leeds as opposed to a short term deal until end of season. That will mean he ineligible too.

I think Paddy should be back for that game so can see us going to a 3 at the back with Jones as wing back.

If Dijksteel still can't get into the team at that point, I think he might have to have his bags packed and house for sale

  4. One of Azaz's best performances so far, Ayling's deliveries were on the money. Jones and Latte Lath were causing issues by using their pace and being direct.

Two teams both going for it, I was entertained and you couldn't argue if it was 3-3 today. Really promising.

Thought Clarke had an off day myself, but they happen to everyone.

It could be a bit of recency bias, as you say, but I think there's so few players who've had any consistency this year it's slim pickings. Not because of much else other than game time.

The top appearance/minutes played for us this season are:

    1. Howson

    2. Fry

    3. Rav

    4. Barlaser

    5. Engel

    6. Dieng

    7. Jones

Then there's a massive drop off in games and minutes played.

Do you know, looking closer at the stats there's a very good argument for Izzy.  7 goals, 4 assists (6&3 in the league). 31 appearances (29 starting).

The only thing with Howson was how rotten he was in the midfield in the early parts of the season. He’s looked better recently but our midfield was constantly over run and no pressure in the early parts of the season.

I went for Matt Clarke. I think he’s been immense since he returned. Has put his head literally where it hurts for us and always tries hard every game.

At the start of the season if you’ve had said that he would be above Lenihan and Fry in the pecking order I’d have laughed. But I also think he’s brought the best out in Rav too

I think Clarke would be definitely a big contender if he were available earlier in the season. But looking at the games played/started by the players most mentioned here:

    Dieng: 31 league starts

    Rav: 29 league starts

    Howson: 31 league starts

    Clarke: 15 league starts

Clarke had only played 1/3 of a season and he's probably really only started 10 of those "up to speed" let's say.

  8. I, unironically, went for Howson. I genuinely think he deserves it.

If we had not had this injury crisis I think there are a few players who would be above him, but everyone has really struggled for consistency this season
