  1. I’ll second and third the above. I’d be gutted. Think we look a much better team when he’s on the pitch.
  2. I get some of the points made regarding Fry and Lenihan being exposed by our midfield, but we have far more pressing issues. There’s not many defenders in our league I’d swap for either of them and I actually think one of Lenihan’s strengths is his ability to start attacks with his passing. I think the whole ‘aggression’ argument is Carrick’s worst nightmare as well. He doesn’t exactly strike me as the type of manager that wants his defenders making rash tackles/decisions.
  3. Eduardo Vargas has just failed his medical.
  4. I think I’ll take Di Marzio’ word on this one - he’s widely considered the go to guy for Italian transfer news. A lot of Man United fans reckon he was always first during the Højlund deal as well and he was likely getting his info from the Atalanta end.
  5. To be fair they’ve literally just copied the title of the article it’s obviously came from.
  6. Guess that explains Giles’ comments after Chuba the other night…
  7. Watch from 24:20 - Sheff U owner talks about wanting younger players, but admits there’s one player in particular (their manager’s top target) that doesn’t fit that category, that they’re willing to spend more on. I might just be putting 2 and 2 together, but after Nixon’s article I think it’s fairly obvious who he’s talking about…
  8. Phil Hudson who went over to Maccabi with Keane liking tweets about McNair. Might be something in it?
  9. More bloody Luton posts in the thread! 🤬
  10. Don’t suppose anyone has his patreon?
  11. I’d be a little worried if he were spending big on him. His injury record isn’t great to begin with, but who’s to say he’ll come back the same player after that type of injury. We would also still need a striker whilst he’s out.
  12. I’m not convinced the Ross Stewart link will materialise, but given his contract situation what sort of fee do you think we’d be looking at?
  13. Positionally he was often as advanced as a winger and wether he was beating a man or not he was, for the most part, consistently delivering quality into the box in the final third. I’m not comparing him to Downing either, but his delivery was as good as we’ve had probably since Downing was first here. Like you say though, we did become a little predictable last season. I just think people are underestimating what a loss he will be.
  14. One of our main tactics with the ball under Carrick last season was Smith tucking in to make a three and Giles bombing on. Positionally, he was essentially a winger. Giles’ defending wasn’t his main strength, but we must replace his attacking threat.
  15. It’s quite sad that both local papers don’t appear to have much of an idea on what is actually going on. I can’t actually remember the last ‘exclusive’ either the Gazette or the Echo had. Gone are the days of Vickers dropping a hint on Twitter and the whole forum going into meltdown.
  16. Howson isn’t a ‘destroyer’ by trade, but certainly offers more from a defensive standpoint than Barlaser does. Hackney and Howson compliment each other far more than Barlaser and Hackney.
  17. I still think we need a destroyer type in midfield. Especially if Howson is struggling. I worry Hackney and Barlaser might get ran through against more physical midfields.
  18. Let’s be honest, Coulson isn’t good enough. He had a few decent flashes in a horrendous Woodgate side, but was otherwise fairly uninspiring. Even during his decent performances his end product was dreadful. The Chuba redemption story has been fantastic, but I think it’s given a few people some quite unrealistic expectations.
  19. Sounds like they may need the Giles money before anything else.
  20. Mandi, Subotic, De Roon, Deulofeu, Ziyech, Snodgrass, Bojan, Praet, Gaston, Jese, RVP, Negredo. Crazy looking back.
  21. Was it ever confirmed that he did actually visit? What a mad window that was in hindsight. Being so close to Subotic, the moves for Jese, Bojan and Deulofeu, Mandi falling through last minute and then Negredo and Valdes. I’m sure there was a few other names that seemed ridiculous at the time as well.
  22. I agree, I think Dijksteel as a wide centre-back in a three is fine, but I’d be worried about him in a four. Just a thought.
