If we’re looking at League One players I hope we cast an eye on Harrison Burrows, definitely a Premier League player in the making, not sure what his value would be mind

So is it a 343 formation?

Very strong bench too

means nothing really, their own fans said he's physically weak and lacking confidence. a great combo for the championship? clearly hes not up to it. the recruitment team have done a poor job on signings and the lack of signings by them in summer and jan for attacking options have been a sackable offence.
Lack of attacking options in the summer? I think we signed plenty of attacking players and as for Jan we signed Azaz apparently we were in for some Mexican player in the MLS and for all we know there could of been others that we tried and failed with

One of the match reports after sat for Greenwood was "anonymous again". Thought it was absolutely spot on.
As for Thomas... well you have to question what our recruitment team are doing.
Tbf to the recruitment team Thomas came with Premier League pedigree and without wanting to derail the thread I reckon the recruitment team are doing a fairly decent job

This has been the worst I think I've seen us in recent times and certainly since Carrick has come on board.
The transfer strategy in the summer, and then reinforced in January, was absolute car crash.
1 step forward, 5 steps back.
How do you come to that conclusion?

I'm sick of it.
He's costing us every week and somehow Carrick is happy to have him there.
Completely agree, playing Glover is like giving the teams that play us a goal head start as he always concedes and concedes such soft goals
-
We are losing this game because Glover is in goal

ONE on target.
Simply not good enough.
Funnily enough Preston have only had one on target aswell

We just seem to be perpetually rebuilding and we always seem to do our business late so are already well off the pace by the time the team gels.
Ayling
Thomas
Greenwood
Howson
McNair
O’Brien
Rogers
All players set to leave in the summer or left already. We could even lose Hackney too. That’s a bigger rebuilding job than last season.
You could argue that Rogers has been replaced by Azaz, Ayling and Thomas are here to cover Smith and Bangura so don't need replacing, when McNair goes we will still have 4 CBs so it's not really a rebuilding job at all but replacing 3 or 4 players

We buy new players to replace them.
Right, because its that simple to replace that quality

I can understand all the comments regarding "writing this season off" as next season it will undoubtedly be a more open league and may see us with a better chance of promotion, but that is with this group of players, what happens in the summer if we lose Hackney, McGree, Rogers and Jones to the Premier League clubs, losing that kind of talent could set us back afew years.
I think while we have a chance of making the playoffs we have to go for it, as we all know the playoffs are a lottery and anything can happen.

For me we'll be well stocked in the summer even if the loans go and we'll just need some sprinklings of Quality
Dieng - Glover
Smith - Dijksteel
Fry - VDB - Clarke - Lenihan
Engel - Bangura
Hackney - Barlaser - Howson?
Jones - Forss
Azaz - Crooks - Rogers?
Mcgree - Silvers
Lath - Coburn
Striker, 1 stardust attacking mid, Center midfielder and we're good to go
Like you say if you add 1 quality cm and a striker who can hit 20 goals then that team is definitely good enough to target promotion, the only big question mark would be how many of those players will we lose

-
Say for instance we want £12m for Rogers and they can't pay due to FFP, couldn't they loan him with a loan fee of around £2m and then an obligation to buy for £10m in the summer?
The could even through in that Duran on loan to help replace Rogers till the summer?

His comments are a bit out of place as not relevant to losing to a £1bn+ prem side, but aside from the Crooks bit it's all pretty much agreed facts.
But put it on the transfer thread then, it's not relevant to this match

I reiterate. A serious rebuild incoming.
Outs for £ - Hackney, Rogers and McGree
Outs for being not good enough - Crooks
Outs on loan to develop - Silvera
Outs for retirement/ loans ending/ contract ending - Howson, Greenwood, Ayling and McNair
How about you take your negativity and sod off!
I'm proud as anything of our club and that we got to the semi final of the Carabao Cup! Yes we lost and lost well but I still love this group of lads, so can we all just reflect on the good for just a couple of hours!

And do what exactly?

Getting taken apart by the billionaires and gifted them the last 2. No disgrace but their midfield alone cost half a billion .
not worth risking players we need in champo so I would take off Hackney , Forss and Howson and play the kids. Coburn and O’Brien should stay on the bench too.
We have no game for 11 days after this

I think the issue is that we arnt yet good enough to play the football Carrick wants us to play, it's just highlighted more when we play a team of Chelseas quality
- 1
-
Hackney needs to be in the middle, he's wasted out on the left.
-
We just have zero pace which always meant we had zero chance
-
The points we've lost from the bottom 6 teams is going to cost us a playoff place

Your right about us having 2 solid options at LB but that doesn’t mean that if there’s an opportunity to improve on what we already have that we shouldn’t look at it.
It’s all hypothetical but if he was available and in budget he’s a player that would improve the starting 11 in my opinion so we would be mad to not make a move and then move on either Engel or Bangura
