I think you pretty much spot on, last season we defended by keeping the ball for long periods and being good at ball retention, this season our ball retention is so poor and the opposition have more of the ball means they have more opportunities to hurt us, which there doing

Well considering that's the brand of football we want to play and that's the kind of football Carrick wants to play, it's a bit worrying if the recruitment team aren't identifying and signing players who can play in that way

Bolton 59% possession to our 41% And have made 254 passes to our 180. Which ever way you look at it this just isn't good enough, the international break cannot come quick enough

VdB can play rb as he did with his former club, Engel would give you width from the left, in my opinion Forss would be better suited playing from the left and cutting onto his right and as for the midfield being totally meh they are the only midfielders we have! 🤣

I think we're all in agreement that a CDM who can break up the play is needed but what worries me is that Carrick won't know how to utilise one in his starting 11, I think the best way to do it is to change our shape and play 433 but I don't think Carrick will want to do that

I wonder whether Harvey White from Spurs might be worth a look, left footed CDM and in the final year of his contract there. Anyone know if he'd be worth a punt?

I'd like to see us go all out for a CDM and use Hackney in the #10 position. I think our biggest problem is that our ball retention this season is no where near as good as last season and I put that mainly down to losing Chuba and I believe that Hackney had the potential to make that spot his own

Ye I think that's right and to be fair the likes of Rogers, Silvera and Co are only going to get better season on season, it definitely feels like a completely new approach to what we're used to and what's also good about it is that Carrick seems to be completely on board with it

I'd like to see us try using Barlaser along side Howson and use Hackney in the number 10 role obviously the downside being that there the only 3 midfielders we currently have but I think it would work brilliantly

We look much better with Howson in the side and Rogers has been excellent
