1. I was mourning the likely fate of Victor Moses a bit back, thinking that he would be off out on loan again to another Prem club where he would be a bit-part player for another season. That was before he came on for the last 6 minutes on Monday and performed like he didn't know what to do or where on earth he was. I know it was only 6 minutes but he was unbelievably poor.
2. We're only 5 days in to the season and Negredo's transfer fee is already up £0.1m to £6.6m. Others to appreciate early are Coutinho (£8.1m) and Swansea's bargain basement defender Stephen Kingsley (£4.1m). As mentioned elsewhere, hanging on to your transfer wild cards isn't necessarily the best policy.
3. Yes, he's one mean-looking customer and he seems to do the trick most times. ;)
4. It's all in the Swahili name. Have to admit it makes less sense after a previous post was deleted by the author.
5. It's to make sure you don't go for a sneaky drink and no mooning at the natives ;) Then there's the overtime rates for the local constabulary to consider, while they're on one of their favourite jaunts of the season. I bet they auction the escort jobs at the nick. :)
6. Following on from late changes to the league structure I was pushed for time producing the revised H2H fixture lists and then processing the first round of predictions. What with a new season kicking off in Fantasy Football as well, the pressure was on but that's no excuse. I was surprised by your apparent no-show and I should have checked and maybe I could have avoided this guilt trip I'm still on. Ironically, the program actually warns that it isn't foolproof, just after it harvests predictions!
7. The new season is off to a good start with 28 goals, 2 clean sheets and some big names getting on the scoresheet. Raf smog is the opening round's top scorer with a handsome 80 point tally, a score helped along by triple points from captain Aguero. Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, MattyBoro has the dubious honour of collecting the season's first wooden spoon for his unspectacular 25 points. That's really not too bad a score in the opening round and things can change very quickly in this competition. Judicious use of a wild card can see a manager start romping up the table and -
8. Any programmers reading this? Wanna see a fellow programmer's comeuppance for using quick and dirty fixes? If you copy and paste this page to a text editor you will see that user names appear with either " Online" or " Offline" appended. I made use of this fact to extract user names when writing my predictions harvester program. I don't know why, but Tom is shown as " Away" rather than " Offline" so his posts weren't getting picked up. Mystery solved and easily remedied but what a bugger it was to find. I've also discovered why users can be described as "Away".
9. Curiouser and curiouser... the harvester skips all of Tom's posts! That's actually very helpful to know because it suggests that the problem might be user name related, possibly his unusually short monicker. Intriguing...
10. Tom, you're right and I apologise most humbly. Above is a screenshot of my results harvester program and it shows that Post No 9 has never been picked up for some strange reason. The rest of the posts are there so I'm mystified as to what happened. I spent quite a bit of time writing a new fixture list generator and once that was done I used it to produce the Head-to-Head fixture lists for the coming season. After that it was all systems go for the first round, the harvester accepted the fixture lists, gathered the predictions and processed everything satisfactorily - or so I thought.
11. Okay, competing threads have been merged and you are in control, typicalbrough. :)
12. Hmmm... I have been sitting on the following PM until Andy returns from holiday and I have a chance to discuss it with him. However, since you ask, here it is: You just had to ask, didn't you! :D (Yeah, I've calmed down now. ;))
13. I've completed the survey. I'm sure it goes without saying that the sooner the survey link gets published, the bigger the response we can expect. Also, it might be beneficial to use the Announcement facility to advertise the link. It gets plenty of prominence and you can set a time limit on it, too.
14. Easier said than done, I'm afraid. Whoever creates a thread becomes its "owner" with sole access to the opening post and that's you now, Humpty. You would also own a merged thread because you would still own the oldest post. The suggested alternative of deleting the thread isn't really on, either, not after people have spent time and effort posting their thoughts. In short, you have created a bit of a problem. I haven't looked at who is next on the MDT list but he is going to need access to the opening post, right? So, in light of the foregoing, what do you propose we should do? Humpty,
15. J.T. Have a look at the opening post in this thread and check your PMs. It's your FPL team name that we need. ;) It's okay, I see Debuchy Fanni will be included in the FPL's next update.
16. Here are the amended results of the opening round of the 2016/17 oneBoro Predictions League: Premier League

Barticus 4-4trekkers

BeardySmog 4-3smogsterking t..

boro 86 4-3Raf smog

boro-unger 3-2misterweed

Borodane 3-5PompeySmog

cyprusboro 4-
17. If you have (or get) a squad at FPL it's not too late. Just announce your squad name in here and I'll PM you the league code.
18. The BBC's "Best of Sport" web page has an hilarious video to mark the tenth anniversary of that notorious incident. Go here http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/tag/sport Then scroll down and you'll find it near the bottom of the page.
19. Things moved faster than this when I was a kid. The next 6 minutes seem like a lifetime...
20. Soon be time to head on over to our match day thread, the first of our new Premier League season. :)
21. Fear not, Hull will soon realise what an impossible task lies ahead of them and then heads will drop. Have you seen their next 5 fixtures? :D
22. Watching this match, it's not just the Hull fans that deserve sympathy. Mike Phelan and his players have put in a highly creditable performance. Went in to this match with a wonderful attitude and It's paid off for them wonderfully. The fans couldn't possibly have wished for more and I hope our squad can demonstrate that kind of commitment come 3pm.
