Boro v Leeds 3-0 (Bamford, Bamford, Bamford)

We must not drop back in the second half and give the initiative back to Leeds, we have this lot well beaten. -

Bamford has just shown us how to lead the line, never mind the goals, a virtuoso performance of pulling away from the centre backs, brining in other players and getting back to dangerous positions. Traore is scaring them to death and Besic looks the business. Only note of caution, Shotton is out of position so many times, has he never heard of keeping a straight back line. -

With Leadbitter on the team sheet is that not the same as starting with two midfielders, just asking. -

Balls hoofed into theirbox are gobbled up by the two big Leeds centre halves, but they struggle when the cross comes in from wide angles. Because of that I would play Traore and Harrison, left and right and let them fighten the full backs. However with Pulis making the decisions we will probably play three defensive mids and batter each other to a 0_0 in an aerial game of volleyball, or they get a breakaway. -

I watched the game at Elland Road and they played a high tempo "in yer face" type of football straight from the off, and we just could not cope with it and wilted. I decided at that moment that this squad of players just does not have the backbone to string consistent results together. Leeds won't change their type of play tonight so it will be interesting to see if Pulis has managed to instill any fighting spirit in our players. -

I can only think that the club must have had footage from another source that showed Traore pushed the guy in the chest and not the face, as everything I have seen has been inconclusive. Should the defender not now be charged for claiming Traore attacked his face ? -
One spot left who will get it and where will we finish?
pikerman replied to Downsouth's topic in Boro Forum
Totally agree with you DS, one place left in the top six and about six teams fighting for it. I settled on ninth a long time ago, but with the standard of this league being so poor anything is possible. Even if by some miracle we made sixth, I would have no confidence in the play offs anyway based on our record against the teams above us. -
Boro v Sunderland (A) 3-3 (Bamford (2) Leadbitter)

Plonker here. Were you seriously suggesting that Leadbitter is worth his place because he is our first choice penalty taker ?? Really are you being serious ? Look just a bit of humour, i'm as gutted as the next man with result i am not wanting to offend and I'm certainly no expert especially when i don't see a ball kicked. No offence taken, I am not that sensitive, I am just interested in anyones views as to how Leadbitter can keep on being selected when he offers absolutely nothing in midfield. -

Leadbitter and Downing off, they have not got the legs for two games in five days, Howson and Harrison on, what do we have to lose. -

Pulis has a real thing for Leadbitter, personally I just don't see what he offers in a direct comparison with Howson. Time for Assombalonga to prove his critics wrong, the main one being Pulis. -

Sunderland have conceded 58 goals so far this season, please let us just go for it, drop Leadbitter and have a midfield duo of Besic and Howson. -

Well that team should prevent Hull scoring...... so 0_0 it is then ! -

I predict we will start with four defensive midfielders due to us playing mighty Hull and both sides will be warned by the referee at half time for 'non aggresion', just like in boxing. Seriously, apathy has set in, we will probably win this one nil, but in the greater scheme of things it will not matter, and we will end up around tenth in the table, which is exactly where this team deserves to be. -

The only thing I am holding onto at the moment is that it could be worse and I could have been born in Sunderland instead of Stockton, how bad would that be. I see Karanka is working his magic at Forest, seven league games without a goal. -

Having suffered this for two seasons watching my local club, WBA, then I wonder which football God I have upset, that I have to go though it all again. -
Does anybody else think that we are mirroring Villa over the last couple of seasons? Get relegated with barely a whimper, bring in a young unproven coach and spend a fortune of the PL money to let him build a team, sack him halfway through the season and bring in a grizzled old warrior, sell off half the players you bought and start again. The only consolation is that after a shaky start, Villa look the business now.

When I watched Britt in the first few games of the season he had a smile on his face and really looked as though he was enjoying himself, now the smile is gone. It is always easy to blame the manager when your form dips, it gives the player an exscuse and Britt looks like someone now who doesn't believe in what he is doing or the support around him. Another caualty of the big clear out to come I think.
