Jota to move to Birmingham, that just does not make sense, I mean, why would he? As for commuting between Brum and London, trust me, (as someone who did it twice a week for a period of time), it is hell on wheels! There are no sounds coming out of WBA as to a late bid for Gibson.
That's assuming he lives in London. If he lives outside the M25 his commuting time could have barely changed, he could live as far out as Oxford.
Doesn't the train get into Euston in no time
Without starting a debate on the shortcomings of Virgin trains, try standing up for an hour and a quarter in a sardine can being buffeted about, and then play football, it just does not make sense. If Brum are the limit of his ambitions then so be it.

The biggest puzzle for me is how ineffective Howson has become. I remember him at Norwich bombing forward and controlling the game, who is this imposter, he just seems lacklustre and disinterested, very strange. This team reminds me of Villa last season, spent loads, brought in good players but never looked like a cohesive unit.

I would settle for a point now and be very grateful, we look like zombies wandering around out there, nobody seems to know where they are supposed to be playing.
-
Ok so that did not work, time to change this strange formation or the best we can hope for is a 0_0. Baker back into a central role, and somehow incorporate Bamford into the attack as Preston are looking comfortable at the back, Friend looks lost.

I can sort of see what GM is trying to do, bring more width to the team and be able to push further up the pitch and press the away team, but it just does not seem to be working at the moment. We could do with genuine wide players not defenders trying to emulate wingers.
I was hoping we'd seen the last of managers putting square pegs into round holes. :(
Successful teams play to a pattern and fit players into that pattern, I am with you on this, a little bit worried, but too early in the season to start alarm bells

What a great morning, from keeping my head down when people ask me who I support, I am now on the roof tops shouting it, "The Boro" and have you seen our team for next season. Bring it on, last season is just a fading memory, pace, goal scorers everywhere you look, experience as well, Gary Monk must be rubbing his hands in glee.
-
God can give two things to a footballer to make him an exceptional player, pace and a football brain, everything else can be coached. Sadly Traore only has one of those gifts, and it will never change.
-
If Monk could persuade Will Hughes to join us, then that would be a coup, a cracking player that always seems to have time on the ball to deliver his pass, and combative with it. I am actually very surprised that Prem teams have not had a dabble as his game would suit a number of teams up there. Watched him last season a number of times and he always shone, especially against Brighton away when he played them off the park.

It is exciting to think that a new era dawns, a new manager, new players to analyse, and hopefully a new way of playing, looking forward to next season now.

So Lurker has let us all down again. In these troubled times, if we can't rely on Lurker then what can we rely on? :(
Jeremy Corbyn ;)
Does Jezza know who our next manager is like? Why won't he let us in on it? :@
Diane Abbott is sorting the finance deal out, that is the delay, she has offered him a contract of ten thousand a year.

Tumbleweeds continue to be blown across in the wind.............................., sorry bashed my head on the monitor as I nodded off there, yawn!!

If buying Dorrans is the level at which we are setting the bar, then I give up,, a great player a few years back, but his knees have gone.
-
Can we not find a player to perform the same role for us that Modric does for Real, he just links everything up.
-
So this is how football should be played, control, movement, strengh, what the hell have I been watching all season, and that goal by Mandzukic, oh my !!
-
A young British management pairing with experience and a pretty good track record of managing and improving players, what is there not to like, I am pretty happy, (especially as it is not Giggs).
-
He who shall be not named, for legal reasons, brings a little bit of sick to the back of my throat, anyone but him please, even pretty please.
Voldemort was defeated by Harry in the last book. I don't think he will be coming. (Harry Potter reference for those whom are confused)
Oh bugger, really, thought he would be great for keeping team discipline.
Nah mate. Look at him. He'd cut his nose off to spite his face.
Ha Ha very good

What knowledgable people?
Stelling and Merson to name two.
Merson :D
Oh and my two new mates who I have just met in a bar in Corfu, and they come from Yarm, so they must know what they are talking about.
-
I initially wanted Wagner as our next manager as I think he has done extraordinary things at Huddersfield this season on very limited resources, but I just think it will not happen, hence my comments about jumping in for Monk who is available now.

I must admit having read all the comments from knowledgeable people, I am of the opinion that Gibson should move heaven and earth to get Monk, and to hell with the interviews, we are just wasting time. With my track record that will guarantee Giggs walking through the Ayresome Gates now lol.
"Post Mortem" Boro business Summer transfer window

I really dislike these transfer windows dragging on into the season proper, so I am grateful it is over and we can get back to concentrating on the football. Overall I believe it to be a very successful period for us, with the whole squad overhauled for the better. We have a strong, proven, defence an abundance of attacking talent at this level, with my only doubts centreing, (once again), on our ability to link up or defence and attack. I have been disappointed with Howson so far, I thought he would be the missing link, only time will tell, perhaps Baker will slot into that role, all down to Monk now to get the best of his squad. Feeling confident of a good campaign.
