  1. Be surprised to see Randolph back for this one if he's still injured now. I suspect: Mejias Howson Ayala Shotton Coulson Wing Clayton Saville Tav Britt Browne Subs: Pears, Wood, Spence, Bola, McNair, Johnson, Fletcher Trying to put a good bench together is a struggle.
  2. I'm not entirely sure what Lowe will be like in the tactics but I'd prefer having him over Boye based on what little I've seen, if the prices are similar. I didn't realise Lowe is 25, mind. Thought he was younger than that.
  3. Just watched a highlights reel of this Boye lad for the first time. He looks alright. Difficult to say for sure until you see him play properly but one thing that comes to mind watching it is that it looked like AEK were playing a similar high pressing game in a similar formation and he was involved with and alert to winning the ball back early. I wouldn't want to pay top dollar for him based on what I saw though, what are the prices being quoted around for him?
  4. Besic takes too long to pass the ball in a Pulis team, absolutely doesn't suit our style of play. Good player for what he is and I think he's capable of more than he shown last year but not worth it for us, I don't think.
  5. I was quite close to it as well mate, I didn't see much in it at the time as they both just looked like they were running for the ball and he fell over. The replay is from the other side though and I think you can just make out the contact. Quite a wild swipe for the ball given I think Shotton should have known where his man was. Not to detract too much from his overall game mind.
  6. Watching back the highlights, think it was a penalty after all. Shotton goes to boot the ball clear with his left foot and proper boots their striker in the leg. Looks like he was inside the box too. Seems like a correct decision.
  7. Worth saying as well that whilst he still hasn't exactly set the world alight, McNair looks so much better as a midfielder than a bloody right-back.
  8. I just think like NB4 re: Gibson, you're looking at money we can bring in across multiple players and looking to spend it on one player, mentioning a few players there and saying we'll have some money to spend so why can't we afford him. If our squad is thin now, imagine how thin it will be if we spend any and all profits on one player? Also not thinking of the effect that could have long term. If we're also expecting to turn low value players into high value players, spending £8m on a player in the Championship when we're expected to continue here for a couple of years is mad. Prem clubs
  9. I'm not so sure it's smart to sell 2 centre-backs to cover the loan of 1. We can spend our money better than that, surely.
  10. The quoted £8m is not a decent sized fee for a club who are accepting cut-price deals on their own players because they have to shift people off a wage bill. It's an astronomical fee. The hope surely with loan players is that they make a pretty immediate impact or cover a spot we don't want to commit to paying wages for over the next few years, I don't think anybody loans a player in the hope they can develop their career for the sake of their parent club or whoever comes in.
  11. Shotton out and Gibbo in on loan would be good for us in terms of quality, though unsure of how good it would be financially.
  12. He's pretty much first choice right now, given the injuries. Unless we have someone lined up, we may need to keep hold of him for now.
  13. I think with Fredericks going last year and Sessegnon expected to leave, that's 2 big players they've lost. Bryan and Christie are levels down on those players, though not that bad. But again, it's a lot about the manager too. Jokanovic is proven at this level, he got them out of it as much as any of those players. Parker is entirely unproven, only thing on his record right now is a relegation, as much as it's very harsh to hold that against him.
  14. Personally surprised Fulham are expected to get promoted automatically. Not convinced Scott Parker is going to do well for them. If Jokanovic was still in charge, it'd be a different story. Still expecting Ryan Sessegnon to leave too. Play-offs, maybe. But think they were a team who hit their targets the season before with momentum, that's been lost now.
  15. I thought the point of a mutual termination was to avoid paying the full contract. Pretty sure we can release them without their consent in some way by paying their entire contract off. The point of mutual termination is that we come to some mutual agreement between the parties, Rudy agrees to some pay-off which is less than his full contract but gets to also pursue another contract freely without us being involved at all.
  16. Could even be a bluff to make Pompey believe we're just happy to move on. Though you'd think the other interested parties in Lowe would mean it won't make a damn bit of difference. Regardless of how good Eze is, spending £8m on a player over any course of time right now would seem to be a huge commitment from us. Even putting players up as part of the deal, Woody feels our squad is too thin. So even sacrificing one player to any potential deal means we're possibly only balancing a thin squad. Surely a good chunk out of the budget leaving us little room to maneuver with other deals.
  17. Aye, possible. Might just be happy for them.
  18. Something a bit funny about that, like. Don't think he'd be doing that before it was announced. Maybe hacked. Just 6 hours ago posting a pic of him in a QPR shirt, then doing that? Not convinced. EDIT: Also, the story was supposedly 9 hours ago, the QPR pic was 3 hours after that?
  19. Really? Source for that? If that's true, I'll drive him to Preston myself.
  20. Hugill came in as a big money signing though, relatively speaking. Fletcher was a young lad signed on a free. Still, you'd expect we offered to match his wages given how keen we were to sign him, so guess it wouldn't be a huge shock.
  21. I'd be surprised if Fletcher was on big money but it might be big enough to justify shifting him in favour of someone who is just as raw on less wages with potential for a profit (not on Fletcher, but between the two deals). If he was on even £15k and we could half it for someone we were just as keen on whilst making a few quid right now, it would probably make some sense. Especially if we can't shift Rudy, too.
  22. Aye, agreed on Shotton. He wasn't really put under much pressure until the 2nd half I don't think and I'm not going to forget the other games he's played badly in that quickly. But today, give him credit where it's due, he was good, barely put a foot wrong.
  23. Maybe we're looking to loan someone to Preston? Or sell?
  24. I think he did about as much as Johnson, no more no less. Don't think he was the best player on the pitch by any means. Exciting and hopefully some end product to come but not much beyond that right now. Don't think it's harsh at all, personally.
