  1. I've seen worse from us this season but it hasn't been particularly good either.

I'd like to see a few of those Hugill falls back again. I seem to remember the Juke being dragged all over the place and never getting anything because he's a big lad and should do better. Sometimes the way you go down makes a rod for your own back though. He's not doing an awful lot of complaining afterwards which doesn't help his case, kind of like he knows he shouldn't be getting anything. Shame because there has been a couple of occasions where he's received the ball and done well with it.

  2. wellhalf the time I dont know how we are playing :) If Downing is more wing back or winger, if Friend is more central back than full back.....

So I guess I cant realy complain as I have no real clue how we play half the time this season

Same to be fair, I've tried to narrow it down so many times during a game but it changes to suit different scenarios of the game. :)

The only time it's pretty obvious is when we're a goal ahead and in the latter stages of the game and, regardless of personnel, we go to a 5-4-1.

  3. would rather had seen Assombalonga instead of Hugill and why is Friend still in the starting 11?

Because he's the captain on the pitch and not been anywhere near as bad as people have suggested when at left-back?

I'm also not convinced McQueen is ever going to oust him whilst part of our plan involves swapping between 3 and 4 at the back on a whim because he doesn't seem like the right build for a centre-back. Unless we start playing with out-and-out wing-backs again, McQueen is going to struggle to challenge Friend for a starting spot.

  4. Stability with keepers is a huge benefit to any side. Even if there was a keeper who I thought might be better in this division, Randolph has ultimately been so free of flaws for 95% of his game-time that I wouldn't even consider swapping him for anyone else. Money very well spent there.

In terms of negatives, I've always criticised him for his kicking and his general sort of lackadaisical attitude when he's on the ball. He almost seems too calm at times to the point it has driven me mad. You don't even see that kind of calmness with the top division 'ball-playing' keepers all the time.

But when you consider that, with the defence he has in front of him, he so often has to do nothing for long periods of the game, being alive to some of the situations he has had to be on those rare occasions and most of all being able to make the saves he needs to make, puts him right up in the top bracket. If he's not the best in the division, he must surely be in the top 3.

He looks so calm because he's the king of time wasting, if we have a goal lead, even if it's like the 20th minute he'll take as long as humanly possible to get rid of the ball.

He doesn't just do it when we're winning though, which only emphasises the point. He is just too calm for my liking, sometimes! Though to be fair to him, I don't think there are many occasions it has come to bite us in the ***.

  6. We did lose the lead though which is what they were saying. What I mentioned before about not losing when taking a lead is what you mean. Again, if I got the stats right, it's been 29 games without losing when taking the lead. I'd be interested to know if that's just Pulis or if it extends to Monk as that's a lot of games.

  7. A smashed pitch might actually suit our hoofball style though #cunningplan  :omg:

Maybe we should get the groundsmen to start digging up the grass before each half, angled towards the direction the ball is coming from so it just sticks on the grass every time we play it forward.

  8. Young England squad. Not a player over 28. 3 teenagers Sancho, Alexander-Arnold and Mount all making the cut.

    GKs: Bettinelli, Butland, McCarthy, Pickford

CBs: Gomez, Maguire, Stones, Tarkowski, Walker

    RWBs: Alexander-Arnold, Trippier

    LWBs: Rose, Shaw

    DMs: Dier, Henderson

CMs: Barkley, Chalobah, Mount, Winks, Maddison

STs: Kane, Rashford, Sancho, Sterling, Welbeck

No Lingard or Alli means we will a relatively fresh midfield to see. I wonder which 2 he'll go with to start. I'd like to see Maddison but I imagine we'll start with Barkley and Winks. Interested to get a look at Sancho too, haven't seen anything of the lad but sounds like he's tearing up the Bundesliga at the moment.

  9. We're playing Crystal Palace in the cup on Halloween, 8pm kick-off. My birthday, might try and get along to it...

    Billy will be happy

Of course I'll have to scrounge round the ground pleading poverty for a free ticket, just to make sure my financial adviser doesn't lock me out of my account after busting the bank the other day! :crying:
