  1. How does Rhodes not fit the system we play? No chance he's leaving. Whether he was a Karanka signing or not, I'd say out of the options we went through last year, he fit the system the best. He missed some guilt-edge chances, no doubt about it, he'll be disappointed with the chances that he didn't put away. But by all means, he put himself about, made intelligent runs, got himself into the positions that strikers need to. If you just watch him for a segment of a game as I did at QPR, you'll see he doesn't drift out wide or drop too deep very often just to bring himself into play with the ba
  2. It's decent enough for blogs and stuff. I've been using it for my portfolio for a long time. But I think it's going to start losing its place to sites like SquareSpace and those who actually appear to keep marketing themselves. SquareSpace is everywhere, certainly when you listen to podcasts. Squarespace is junk though :( at least when it comes to optimising the site squarespace really isn't set up well. I've never used it personally so I can't say anything about the interface but I think when people new to these things come into the space, they Google something like 'create a web

  4. Apart from Adomah at times, we seem to rarely play REALLY wide. Stuani and Downing both tend to come inside with and for the ball.
  5. I can probably provide some pointers regarding the backend stuff. I've not had a great deal of experience designing beyond messing about with HTML and CSS. But I was working as a backend Web Developer for 2 years until about 6 months ago. Just had my first week as a Junior Games Developer. Absolutely chuffed to bits to move into this industry. Don't think I've ever been so happy going to work as I have this week.
  6. In our system, our attacking Midfielders should be the ones who are ultimately forward thinking. As long as we have players in that 2 in front of the back 4 protecting our defence and with the ability to get the ball to our 4 attackers, I'm not too worried right now how often they get forward to support them.
  7. Yes bud that's what I meant by meaningful. I think Espinosa arguably is more likely than Fischer as we've been bringing in players from the Spanish second division so you'd assume he would have been seen at some point in the course of watching games there. I'm just not convinced that a couple of years ago we identified either as a player to sign, which is what the Gazette is suggesting. We do have some kind of statistical model, it's not totally about that but it does play a big part as I understand it. I think you'll find we use certain software tools that do all of that - Wyscout, Proz
  8. I imagine we have a database of players the same as every other club has. That will be the sum total of our 'tracking'. I don't necessarily think that we've been following either of these players for a couple of years in any meaningful way. It certainly sounds good though. Of course everyone has these databases of players, certainly in the top leagues. No doubting that. But I can't imagine he only got added to that database 2 years ago, so I don't think I agree that would be the sum total of our tracking. We don't have a statistical model, so I very much believe that we would have h
  9. Well £5m really isn't a lot of money if you want Premier League experience. It is important to have that in the squad. I'm not saying we should absolutely, positively sign him if he was available at that price, certainly not just based on PL experience. Look at Joleon Lescott for goodness sake. Bags of experience at that level and was utter *** last year. But if you want an experienced player who isn't entirely on their way out, we could do a lot worse than Cattermole. I'd honestly prefer Mozza though, I think he has more quality and is a better all-round passer of the ball. He's got the
  10. A game we actually won, if anyone needed reminding. Just because we won doesn't mean the system worked. Lets not paper over the cracks we were awful in that Portugal game. CF is right, we laboured to a victory against an under strength 10 man Portugal team. A Portugal team that flatters to deceive even with Ronaldo in the side. They were rubbish in their opening game.
  11. The 4-3-3 worked in domination if the ball in both games, don't think we can argue with that. But we weren't doing enough with it. I also think the diamond is the best bet. Keep saying it, Roy has picked a squad which absolutely screams narrow midfield but he's trying to play with width being provided from up front rather than just our full backs. If what I heard about the Portugal game was right, the diamond didn't work because the forwards were essentially wide players. Almost like it wasn't really a diamond but more of a 4-3-3 with a false 9. I didn't watch that game though so can't s
  12. I backed Germany to win the World Cup 2 years ago but I didn't know what to expect from them this time around. They've lost their main tournament threat in Miroslav Klose finally and are quite clearly struggling to replace him. I don't know how Gotze ends up playing up front in their team. Muller is surely the best option even if you don't fancy Gomez. But even then he's not quite an out and out striker. I've got a feeling Germany won't last past the last 16. Guess it depends who they play.
  13. I don't remember seeing any links for it, I know a few people said they'd love to see him here. But yes that is the same one who's bagged a lot this year in Holland.
  14. Milik has really been lacking at times already this tournament, hasn't he. That first miss was unbelievable.
  15. I think he was referring to the neo-naziesque group popular on Facebook. I know  Besides, it's seems like it's just hearsay about the Britain First thing anyway. Just went onto their website and they released a statement before the announcement of her death.
  16. Definitely a brilliant result, from the 20 minutes I saw at the end, they defended well and McGovern dealt with anything that came near him quite comfortably. I might be wrong but that substitution situation looked like gamesmanship from the bench and players, to me. The referee didn't handle it at all well but goodness me, what a faff on just to seemingly waste time. McNair was ready to come on for ages but then at the last minute as the sub is about to be made, they changed their mind and caused tons of confusion between the players and the ref. IIRC, the board went up to show Dallas o
  17. Bloody hell, talk about gamesmanship from Northern Ireland...
  18. Was watching at work around doing other things so didn't get an excellent grasp on the game but it felt like throughout the game, we controlled possession quite comfortably. First half we didn't do enough in terms of creating chances and Roy, fair play to him, made actual positive substitutions in the face of adversity at half time. Kane once again looked laboured so we needed to bring him off. I thought the Rashford one was a bit strange. He was very wide on either side of the pitch whenever I looked over and I just don't feel that's where he's comfortable without space to run into. Though
  19. Disgusting. Britain First where we kill our own. Absolutely appalling.
  20. Did he actually have a chance in the last game? I can't remember. Said it last time out, he's definitely our best finisher followed, at this moment, by Sturridge and then Vardy. But he needs the chances to have a real go at it. He looked a bit lethargic at times too, I'd like to see a little bit more from him in general play but overall, his job is to finish good chances and that's ultimately what he'll be judged on. I think I'm happy with the starting 11. We did play well for 70 minutes, pretty much after we scored and started making changes we dipped out of it and were unfortunately maste
  21. Don't think poch bought him. He came in under adkins and actually started really well I believe. I can see the doubts but I trust AK to utilise him correctly. As TB said yesterday ramirez likes playing for AK because he "plays me right". He's not being pushed into roles he's not comfortable at with us. Cautiously optimistic. That and we're never going to end up paying the equivalent of the £12m Ramirez cost Southampton or the combined lot of his wages there. If he does falter, we'll be disappointed but he surely won't be as big a hit to the bank that either of the other names men
  22. How dare you forget Kike Sola. :@
  23. I think that's going a bit far. People, including myself, are bound to get excited about Ramirez as he was very much one of the major differences in terms of creativity between us ending in the play-offs or automatic promotion, just as much as Clayton was the difference in midfield or Ayala in defence when he played. But it's by no means a given win and I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that. No signing is guaranteed to work out. Fernando Torres is a pretty good example of that even still. His transfer to Chelsea looked like it should have been worth every penny they paid for him but in th
  24. Sure, I must have missed that thread. I also must have missed how being an actor and/or an author seemed to make those people think they were better or had more valuable opinions than you. Though Bob Mortimer is more famous than the lot of you and has by far a more valuable opinion. I'm not an actor or an author but I know I'm better than all of you. I don't know if that helps or not? Not particularly as it's not new information. We all knew that's what you thought anyway, mate.
