The word here in Australia is we have been told if we got behind the Saudi bid we would get the Asian cup. Apparently fifa told us it would go to Saudi and bidding was futile.

Not a great character. Incredibly surprised when he turned down a new contract at Melbourne as there was general thought that he wasn't good enough to play at a higher level. Can't kick.
He doesn’t have a great reputation. I certainly didn’t want us to sign him and was happy to see him leave the a league. Certainly can’t play out from the back.

Haven’t seen a massive amount of him myself but I know Preston fans rated him and I’m sure we’ll be aware of him given Carricks connections with Utd.
I watched him a few times last season and I was impressed. I certainly didn’t think he was a youth teamer. Very composed.

I’m happy if we sign glover, but don’t let him play. I was so excited to see him leave the a league and not have to hear about his potential every week. 😕

Curious link that...I know absolutely nothing about this guy - does anyone? Maybe some of our resident Australians? @Hewie ?
He wants an overseas move. Big keeper, not one I particularly rate. Makes lots of stupid mistakes. Last I heard he was talking to a danish club, but that was weeks ago. Would also be free as he is out of contract

1.1 mill aus dollar apparently. Around 500k pounds as expected. No idea about anything else. I was told in a way that made me feel like I should’ve already known
-
Ok, so I messaged about silvera and was told it’s already hit the news that he has signed for us. Isn’t it lovely being on a plane for 24 hours

And on Silvera - if he's willing to battle for his place, he comes here. No doubt. If he goes elsewhere it's because he's guaranteed and easier first team place.
This is entirely possible. He has already had 1 dodgy overseas move, he won’t want two. I’d be surprised if he went anywhere to sit on the bench and pick up a pay check

So who do you think he'll go to out of Us (Boro), Stoke or Plymouth? Apperntly we've all had bids accepted.
Last I heard was Saturday and no bids had been accepted. I’ll ask when I touch down in the uk tomorrow for updates.

That's around 1m Australian Dollars so makes sense.
Presume that should say Coventry
I’m hearing around 500k pounds is what they are holding out for.
I should edit to say that the person I’ve spoken to only knows of a hearts bid

Apparently now Bolton are now out of the race for Baccus, another Bolton article citing possible knee issues after the World Cup, he played a full 90 for Australia only a week or two back, so doubt that's an issue.
Wonder if Boro are in, the fee St Mirren were willing to accept for him was ridiculously low in my opinion.
Baccus is fine. He pulled out of the Bolton deal himself as he has an offer from a champo club

He's young he's foreign he's an exciting exotic wonderkid. He only scores bangers according to YouTube
That is the a league advertising channel. They would say that! He isn’t a bad option, but It surprises me. I usually hear a fair bit about a league transfers and literally yesterday I was told hearts had a bid rejected. If we have come in, it’s happened overnight (or I have just missed stuff being on holiday)

That’s thrown me. Patchy form player, but has ability. Apparently ccm rejected 500k Aussie dollars bid from hearts. I’d probably file this under an agent pushing for a higher bid. I’d say around 500k pounds and he will go.

Solved Boro's goalkeeping problem, sign Paul Izzo from Melbourne Victory, on the fringes of the Aussie national team, good age for a keeper 28, great shotstopper, also affordable and unlikely to have another Efl club chasing him.
Not izzo. Best keeper in the league by far is Gauchi and I wouldn’t even say he is ready for champo football.
baccus went to Bolton. Tillio off to Celtic. All a bit interesting. Hearing rumours D’arrigo is looking at a euro move as well

We have an Australian international here and have been linked to Baccus who we probably have been watching aswell. Chances are we’ve watched Australia and this incredible left back multiple times…
Tbf it’s only bos’ second cap….
baccus has been great tbf. If he would cost 500k like the previous rumours suggest, it would be a decent gamble.

He's been a big improver this season, although the guy he outpaced for the goal is more of a centreback playing as a fullback
My boy Marco Tilio has been a bit quiet at times but still one to watch, according to Twitter he's being watched by a German and Dutch club.
Jason Cummings also having a big game for Central Coast but bizarrely has just signed to play in India next season after getting his act together over here.
Silvera is very hit and miss. Kaltak having another cracking game tbf.

I wonder if Michael Bridges had anything to do with the signing, lives or has lived down under in recent times, there you go Boro it's not that difficult.
Bridges is connected with Leeds as an ambassador/scout

Nah. Atkinson and Miller I think are struggling and will need time. Devlin I could see settling in as well

Wouldn't be at all surprised if some of the Aussies in Scotland end up in the Championship next season.
Strain, baccus, rowles?

Asia as a whole is not a bad spot to look. Japan would be expensive, but places like Korea etc have a great youth system that is quite untapped.

We signed McGree after he'd been playing in England for a year.
All those players you listed were brought through our academy too, rather than bought from Australia and put straight in the first team.
That’s what I’m arguing though. The option is either scout the globe and get some decent talent before others, or wait till someone else does then pay a large amount more. Clubs can’t buy 3 or 4 5 million pound players anymore. Scouts need to be proactive.

And we were linked with baccus from st mirren in the last window, a free transfer from the a league.

Joe Gauchi to be number 1 for the Asian cup is exciting tbf. I would’ve been shocked if glover was picked, he is about the 7th or 8th best keeper at this stage.
a bit surprised at Silvera, yasbek, jones and Thomas in the squad, but it’s an odd time for the socceroos. I just saw iredale as well. There’s a feeling of throwing *** at the wall and seeing what sticks.
a few injured players have been picked as well.
