  1. Aye we are definitely done once Bangura's in I think. Does seem to happen every year that we end up just short of that final signing. Though it seems far more likely than conspiracy theories that we just bid on players and refuse to get into bidding wars, missing out in the end. I'm sure Gibson and co. couldn't give a *** what the fans think tbh. Shame about Cannon but I'd rather we didn't panic buy. Even a loan would cost a fair bit at this stage. Let's give Coburn a chance.
  2. I'd love to believe this is all posturing from both Everton and the Boro, but it is starting to feel unlikely. The only hope I have is this from the John's article: Kind of implies we are still open to the move, fits with the "take it or leave it" offer we are reported to have made. Looks like "leave it" might be where it ends up but as I said before, would be embarrassing for Everton not to get Cannon sold by the end of tomorrow.
  3. I don't know what to believe any more. Does seem like desperation from Everton.
  4. Not really up to Dyche given the financial straits Everton are in at the moment. Could be wrong but it seems like we are in a stand-off with Everton on Cannon. They're saying (lying) "we've got £7 million bid from Norwich", we're saying (pseudo-lying) "we're moving on then". We hold the stronger hand IMO, would be embarrassing for Everton to lose out on a multi-million pound sale, not to mention offloading wages, that they desperately need to balance the books. That said, it really feels like one of those "if only we'd got that last deal over the line" kind of deadline days coming up
  5. Venice will have been for Payero to Udinese (if anything).
  6. Seems like this £7 million bid is a lie. All over the national press but people closer to both Everton and Norwich think it's way off the mark. Probably Everton trying to get a bidding war going.
  7. Not to derail the thread further, but what a career that lad had after zero goals in 23 league games for us. Back in Korea he scored 162 goals in 356 league games for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and now he's the vice president of the Korean FA???
  8. @diggerlad07 I think your source has got to be pulling your leg with this Chinese striker link 😂 https://www.transfermarkt.com/spieler-statistik/wertvollstespieler/marktwertetop/plus/0/galerie/0?ausrichtung=Sturm&land_id=34 Anyone we fancy from that list?
  9. The Bangura news fits with the planespotters' theory, after the flight from Groningen yesterday morning. I know it's only a prop plane but they are used for transfers. In fact it is the exact same model of plane as Emiliano Sala was in, RIP.
  10. Not much noise about Cannon. Here's hoping no news is good news but I have a pessimistic feeling...
  11. I'd be surprised if we don't have a purchase option in the loan deal then? Seems like it would suit all sides.
  12. I love a bit of Flightradar24 as much as anyone else but you lads have got to know that not all private planes into Teesside are Boro incomings and outgoings. They may even be... nothing to do with football at all.
  13. Akpom back to England even faster than Warnock expected
  14. Agree, the DM becomes the third "centre back" when required. Means that you don't disrupt the rest of the team shape as much, just swap the AM for a DM and give the other CMs more freedom. I know tactics and coaching are more complicated than that but I'd like to see us try it at least once.
  15. Can't agree with people criticising our attacking and chance creation. Finishing is fair enough, needs improving. The other end of the pitch is much more of a concern. We need a DM, or at least tactical instructions for someone to hang back when we're attacking. I would hope that is obvious to Carrick.
  16. That Planet Swans article refers to "a hefty sell on clause to Middlesbrough which could be as high as 35%". Seems a little vague to me. No mention of sources.
  17. Bodes well for us if we can develop some of our own players this season.
  18. For me, Smith's okay. Definitely played his part in Giles' success by covering defensively. Given we have no CDM we would have been playing with a two-man defense if he was bombing up the right all the time. I'd rather see us play a CDM and a more expansive RB, but maybe that's just my OCD wanting a symmetrical formation. Regardless of fan opinion, it seems like Carrick rates Smith so I doubt we're looking to recruit an RB.
  19. A spare £1+ million is nothing to complain about. If Wood had stayed here I doubt we would be able to sell him for the same.
  20. I know loans usually happen late in the window but I'm surprised we haven't been linked with any yet. I hope they can be used to plug the gaps with some quality.
  21. The whole thing of the player agreeing their contract ahead of time in case of Villa utilising the buy-back is the most insane part to me. Which player or agent would agree to that? Imagine you have an incredible season and Man City or someone are in for you, or worse still, some Saudi team. And then instead of getting your £200k+ a week life-changing payday you have to go back to Villa for £50k or whatever was agreed when you were a relative nobody. And you'd have to be in Birmingham all the time. No thanks.
  22. Villa have one half-decent season in the PL and now they think they're Billy Big ***
  23. Not only do Villa want £20 million for Archer but they're apparently insisting on a buy-back clause. No wonder Sheff Utd are put off. Talk about having your cake and eating it too...
