  1. Had enough of us being the boring team who sets out to spoil a game rather than play in it.

The best statement I've heard that encapsulates the years since PL relegation with GS (barring the TM years I suppose). Its high time we leave the boring boro label behind.

  2. when results don't go his way He simply doubles down and training under that atmosphere would be very functional with any element of fun and creativity removed root and stem at the training ground in favor of an effective functional Catenaccio featuring a 6 man defensive block and a 4 man attack**,

Tbh this matches exactly what a wba fan said, he said when things don’t go to plan he plays even more negative than you ever thought possible

And why would he change it has always brought him success in the PL for all those successful years (Manager of the Year) and having never been relegated and all. But sadly we have found out to our displeasure this TP success formula only works in the delicate scenario of wanting to aviod PL relegation, all be it at the cost of entertainment or  some might say 'football' but then again riches of the PL is so much more than just Football.

That all said We seem to have overlooked/underestimated the Promotion part of the equation hoping that the second division football hadn't changed much  since TP last won promotion in 2007. I mean it worked for the Italians they've only won 4 world cups.

  3. Mourinho returned to Chelsea and won the title again !!!!

I would have him over pulis but I think I'd rather have a guy with fresh ideas. Carrick is a great shout btw.

I second your thoughts mate, would take AK back if it were a shout between him and TP. However I would love to keep with our tradition and appoint a young aspiring coach to help reset the current defensive blueprint and help restart a more attacking one with our academy being more integrated with the 1st team.

  4. Found an interesting post match analysis video of a West Brom game from April this year, Dominic Matteo throws in some hard truths about TP's training methods before he left WB and the failed transition under Pardew.

TP functional 6 man defensive block system meant Training was methodical and structured with emphasis on results (i.e., 40 point target) and when results don't go his way He simply doubles down and training under that atmosphere would be very functional with any element of fun and creativity removed root and stem at the training ground in favor of an effective functional Catenaccio featuring a 6 man defensive block and a 4 man attack**, (the italians won 4 world cups with it so it must work).

His constant groans about wingers are simply to get this system to work at Boro, where at west brom he had Chadli and Philipps chase long balls in behind and force a throw-in or a corner, so TP can unleash a master set-piece play from his secret Italian Set-Piece Play book that always brings in the Goals.

Knowing well that its hard to teach an old dog new tricks, don't see it going any other way than what Stoke and West Brom had to endure, and all the work that comes with the eventual rebuild once TP leaves. And here I thought the Strachan era was a one off........

  5. Sacking Pulis now won't see us getting promoted this season - we've got very recent proof that binning the manager off at this stage of the season renders the rest of the campaign redundant. So the least we can do is take TP at face-value, see what he does in Jan, and then see where we end up. If it's a disaster then yeah, change at the end of the season.

You would definitely think we were 6th bottom after having spent the majority of the season in the bottom two.. as oppose to the exact opposite of that. You miserable basturds!

I notice the tense used is always "you", I presume you mean you Boro supporters.

The arrogant notion that 5 people in a forum represent the entire opinion of Boro supporters.

Also, you can't class yourselves as a supporter when all you do is criticise.

    Definition of supporter

    one that supports

You must be right, it is in the dictionary. I'll go back to only praising my drunk uncle who is trying to ruin the barbecue from now on.

  6. If we are talking about a new Manager being appointed then I feel we should go directly to Gary Neville for various reasons.

I accept that it would be seen as somewhat an experiment due to his brief voyage into managing a club himself but going to Spain for a first time I believe was not the best choice for him.

The man talks a bloody good talk about football and his knowledge is clearly there to be seen and well you could not argue with the fact that he was a great player in his position for both club and country.

The interest in MFC would increase from the whole UK football world both players and other Managers.

Neville himself I am certain would (if he wants to go that way in his career) would relish the chance of Managing a club that has aspirations of it's own and has a great fan base and a Chairman that has always supported and backed his Managers)

I believe that a greater percentage of fans would be ok with the appointment and would actually like to see the man given his "wings" in Management and that he is available now. Sure Sky would be ok with him leaving his pundit position.

MFC to other players might become more attractive a place to consider joining.

Neville I believe could and mostly due to his knowledge turn our players around and get the best out of them both personally but more positionally and gain respect for what he will try and do because as a player he has ben there and done it.

We would be a more attacking unit but very clever in defence.

I rest my case but realise that it is only a pipe dream and an experiment that will never be investigated.

Would love the club to take a risk and go for someone like Neville for the reasons you mentioned, however they will go for the safe option again, it will be Bruce or Big Sam in next

If it's Big Sam in next, I'll be taking a break from football.

I honestly couldn't think of a more backwards appointment if Pulis fails.

You might not be alone on that one.

  7. Here it is, for the lazy ones only following here ;)

Could be an interesting game, any overseas viewer on here know if it is on istream boro ? cause after I logged in, its asking me to re-buy my subscription again (I previously ended up paying for it twice - but I dont wanna pay the 3rd time I dont love SG that much :P).

It is there and I am watching now. Just log out and back in .. And refresh the site. If nothing works, delete cookies, then try again ;)

Hope you will find a way!

Worked little a Charm, thanks mate. Heres to Wings Hattrick Cheers! UTB!

  8. I must say I am quietly excited with our season so far. Best Defensive record in the FL has us second. We look well drilled and once we start sorting out the final third we could be in line to pull clear of the pack.

Leeds are starting to show signs of the historical Bielsa Fatigue Syndrome, along with a well timed goalkeeping crisis their 2nd half of the season is starting to show promise. Then again talks about Tom Heaton signing on an emergency and rumors linking Jan targets like Llorente are worrying if true.

Sheffield Utd and West Brom are starting to normalize their inconsistencies with their recent run of form, long may that continue. And also hold to serve as an example to the rest of the promotion pack to emulate.

Hopefully the positive vibes from coming from TP on Braithwaite in training and his(MB) recent show of commitment leads to some assists and goals in the coming weeks.  If he can match his early season form we'd have an in house solution to our recent attacking problems.

Brentford should be interesting viewing on Sat, Their counter-pressing possession style at home could play into our hands, then again TP will be looking to stifle their attacking threat early on, and we could get good counter attacking opportunities.

I'd take a one nil but would mind a 2-1 neither 3 points the charm :).

  9. We absolutely don't need a new manager. One full season of Pulis and we will be back in the top flight. That's a certainty

The sad thing is that there are probably more people like who are daft enough to watch that *** tonight and absolve him of any blame.  I guess some people are just gluttons for punishment.

And some people are so negative they will always blame the manager in place when they can't handle disappointment

    Do you remember Stracken ?

  10. Takes deep breath

I want Tony to stay. Yes we fell short this season but a large chunk of that is down to Monk and I hold him responsible.

We also fell short this last week and tony has to shoulder the blame for that.  But I feel he did the best with the squad he inherited. Also Today the players let him down. The sloppiness was unforgivable at times. Our influential players just didn’t turn up, in Besic and Traore. Shotton barely resembled a footballer and Howson should be getting court-martialled for going AWOL.

He is a premier league quality manager but this is the championship I hear you say. Give him the summer, £30million and I reckon we will be stronger next season.

    Just my thoughts

I'd have my reservations with TP getting to have his own squad, considering what we saw at West Brom, If it doesn't click we'll lose him(sacked) and his successor might find his 1 dimensional direct long ball long throw squad a little inept and may end up making things worse.

  11. ***NAL - Arteta

    CHELSEA -Maurizio Sarri

    IPSWICH - Simon Grayson

    QPR - Tim Sherwood

SUNDERLAND - John O'Shea or some bloke that will get sacked in 4 months so who cares.

    SWANSEA - Chris Coleman

    WEST BROM - Darren Moore

  12. Maybe Tony Mowbray would be available ..... afterall he is managing a club owned by the Venkys who knows they might chicken him out next season. But seriously any young Eddie Howe esque manager will do.

  13. I don't blame Pulis today, I think if we'd really opened up we'd have lost. As soon as the game opened up slightly in the second half Villa started to look like scoring.

I can understand people being frustrated but if we'd have made it an open game I think we'd have been well beat. No one would be praising Pulis if we'd played 442 today and lost 3-0.

At the end of the day we got into the final third on occasions and had no creativity once we got there. That's why we've come up short.

No if wed have gone for it with a positive line up and went for villa from the start id of accepted a defeat even if was heavy, going out without trying to attack i cannot accept.

You would have been in the minority then

I guess that seems to be the problem ..... we are content to be mediocre....all be it at 0-1. Clean sheets in the 2nd leg of the playoffs is a must on that CV.
