  1. Boro, Stoke,West Ham and Burnley are interested in Frank Lampard. He'll end up at West Ham.

    "I don't want to leave and think to myself, 'Maybe I should have stayed a bit longer', I'm dwelling on it, I have turned down a few Premier League offers.

    "But the fact is, after being at Chelsea for so long and a year with Manchester City, I don't want to get involved in a relegation dogfight.

  2. Chinese businessman Chien Lee, who owns French club Nice, American former banker Paul Conway and British business adviser Alexander Jarvis were guests of the club at two Premier League matches this season and had dinner with Gibson and his consultant Peter Kenyon at Rockliffe Hall on October 16.

    But when an offer of around £50million was made for a 50 per cent stake in the club, Gibson dismissed it outright

    He did, however, sanction a due diligence check on Lee and his associates — and it confirmed significant financial muscle.

    To that end he remains interested in exploring commercial opportunities and is open to the idea of working with Lee in order to improve the club’s global reach, especially in Asia.

    Lee and Conway first attended the Riverside Stadium on October 16 when Boro lost 1-0 to Watford. Afterwards they ate with the club’s hierarchy at Rockliffe Hall, the luxury hotel, spa and golf resort owned by Gibson which is next to the training ground in Darlington.

    Chief executive Neil Bausor provided Kenyon with a provisional budget for next season on the assumption Boro avoid relegation — they currently lie four points clear of danger in 16th — and this was passed to OGC as talks continued.

    And on November 21, the day after the group enjoyed hospitality at the 1-0 home defeat by Chelsea, an offer was made for a 50-50 partnership in the club, which did not include control of football matters.

    Gibson immediately told Kenyon he was not willing to listen to any offers, regardless of their value, although the two parties remain in contact and a Far East betting firm now advertises within the club’s stadium as a result of their relationship.

  3. There were rumours of an approach from Peter Lim through Kenyon in 2013. He is a perfect example of a foreign owner who I wouldnt want associated with this club if you look at his record at Valencia. Chien Lee was also in for Hull City so purely looking for a club from a commercial investment perspective, see WBA Villa etc.

  4. I read the latest Four Four Two magazine this afternoon with a 2 page article on the 96-97 season and our demise from the Premiership. Robson, Hignett, Mustoe and Fjortoft were interviewed. Basically Neil Cox was interviewed by Daily Star during that particular season asked who should be in the starting 11 for cup game and he omitted Ravanelli for Beck due to an injury and struggling for fitness. Ravanelli had the interview translated to him and seeked out Cox then proceeded to spit at him and attempt to fight him during the suit fitting day and cup final photographs. Half of the team loved him, half of the team hated him. Hignett said he was the most selfish person and professional. Mustoe said the preparation for the cup final games that season was shambolic, doesnt count the relegation on his CV due to the injustice of the 3 points. Robson wanted and needed an extra 5 players in the squad due to injuries and the fixture list. 120 minutes against Chesterfield was not the best preparation for cup final at Hillsborough. Ravanelli would disrespect Beck around the club and refered to him as a Serie B striker to Jan Aage and he also blamed Robson for the 1-1 cup final draw because he didnt make necessary changes during the 120 minutes. He was on 42k a week for 4 years. He also refered to our training facilities as having "A Ferrari with no garage" by having to train at public parks and Kirklevington Grange Prison and being shuttled around in an old shuttle bus.

    Jan said Branco was 6 kilos overweight when he arrived and 10 kilos overweight when he left. Emerson always had a flight booked to Brazil, head turned with interest from Barcelona.

  5. Gaston Ramirez wants to leave Middlesbrough. The company made an official request made by letter. Transfer request to bid farewell to his current club. Ramirez pushes for a change of scenery, there is the Leicester keen interest. Middlesbrough tries to object, but before the letter will probably have to surrender. And Ranieri is pressing ...

  6. "I was really upset with the last 10 minutes. We didn't play in the way we have to play, in the way we know how to play and it was because the atmosphere was awful today," a frustrated Karanka said.

    "The fans demanded a lot of the players, we don't know how to play in that way, playing in that way we didn't create one chance and the team was broken on the pitch.

    "That's something I don't like at all. We have to improve. (The fans) and we need to understand where we were last season or two seasons ago, and I think these players deserve more respect."

    Asked if the fans were demanding too much of his players, Karanka added: "Yes. When you don't have the experience, and I don't know how many thousand people are asking for long balls, at the end you have to play long balls. It's a style we don't know how to play.

    "We didn't play one game or one minute in the Championship (like that) when we got promoted and it's something we have to fix. While I'm here, we won't be playing long balls."

    "I said last season that (fans) have a small memory and if I was a player and my crowd left the stadium five or 10 minutes before the finish, when three years ago the team and club was going to League One... I felt it wasn't good," Karanka added.

    "They knew this season would be a tough season for everybody but they can't forget where the club was last season, two, three, four, five or six seasons ago."

    Aitor Karanka has taken a bizarre swipe at Boro fans. 'The atmosphere was awful. They demanded too much. Thousands asking for long balls.'

  8. Oh dear

    @dpcoverdale

    Karanka says the "atmosphere was awful" today and that #boro fans have a "small memory".

    @SimonBird_

    Aitor Karanka moaning that the Riverside crowd were too demanding and should have showed players "more respect". Crazy thing to say.#boro

    Remarkable comments. Starting to show signs of pressure as we saw last year with his walkout, will be interesting to see how he reacts.

  9. Sky reporting West Brom are in talks to sign Odion Igahlo. As Jonathon Taylor tweeted, could it start the domino effect of them allowing Berahino to go to Stoke which could then free Bojan?

    Incredible that Watford turned down a 40m offer from China last year for Igahlo.
