  1. With the streamlining under Pulis and the belt tightening under Woodgate we won’t be immune to effects of COVID but will come out of the bubble strong with so many high earners leaving this summer. Imagine if we had spent the 50 million Monk kitty just prior to COVID.

We should be in a strong position to pick up those talented players in L1 and L2 when inevitably those clubs can’t survive.

  2. Marvin Johnson was  a strange signing. It seemed we paid over the odds at the time and he wasnt the quality we needed. He was also one of the players named in the alleged lawsuit from the club against Monk.

Middlesbrough launched an investigation after receiving information that they may have paid over the odds to sign a number of players, including Ryan Shotton, Marvin Johnson, Ashley Fletcher and Cyrus Christie.

Monk, it has been alleged, failed to inform Middlesbrough of the valuations placed on them by their clubs and therefore allowed the club to pay inflated fees.

It has also been suggested that he ‘passed on confidential information to Featherstone, which enabled the agent to increase his commission’.

Birmingham have signed San Jose, how've they done that then

San Jose follows Jonathan Leko, George Friend, Jon Toral Ivan Sanchez, Andres Prieto, Adam Clayton, Neil Etheridge and Scott Hogan in arriving at Blues this summer.

Reminiscent of our early years with Karanka and Orta.  You dont fully appreciate the signings of Stuani, Nugent, Ramirez and Forshaw during that promotion push until you compare with our incomings over the last 18 months.

  4. Disappointing result but the Carabao Cup is a distraction we do not need and adds to a hectic schedule considering the season finished so late. Warnock will have learnt a number of things tonight about his squad and what needs to be addressed in the coming weeks. After barely surviving in The Championship last season we need a 3-4 year plan to go up and I would be happy this season for Warnock to build a solid foundation and a stable mid season finish.

Sounds like a broken record but it will take time to recover the from £66m spending spree by Garry Monk in 17, losing the seasoned experience of  Flint, Mikel, Downing Braithwaite and Randolph, transitioning from the Pulis way of playing and the financial restrictions under the Woodgate reign.

  5. An owner who has a historical dislike of football agencies and agents resulting in past legal battles (Jonathan Barnett legal slur case) and a manager whose known to prefer player recruitment through agencies with his own family having had past relationships between club employees and intermediaries when he was manager at that club.

What could go wrong with our recruitment and ‘This won’t end well with Warnock’, indeed.

  6. Dean Windass on ‘Undr The Cosh’ podcast on YouTube. Confirmed he was on £33,000 a week here in 2001 and also Boksic was on £100,000 a week with house, car and all travel paid. Had a few interesting stories to tell about his time as a professional footballer.

  7. In line with Warnocks past transfer dealings at other clubs we seem to have been pursuing a number of players who are registered to Wasserman Agency (Kevin Stewart, Joe Williams, Luke Amos, Tyler Blackett, Jacques Maghoma. Dael Fry is also registered with them)

Edit - Duvel mentioned in a follow up post Max Kilman with Wolves is also with agency and has been linked.

I was told we have adopted a social media/agent system for recruitment along with scouting called The Players Agent and this resulted in one transfer this summer. There is an active advertisement on there now on behalf of a Championship club looking for a CF (Target Man) with a budget of € 50,000 per month (All wages are in €) along with a Right Winger required on loan for the same wage.

“TPA has been created by professionals for professionals and its aim is to provide an online environment where reliable information can be entered and found. TPA offers in addition to functions that are common to social networks - A market place for players who are looking for a new club or an agent and for clubs who are looking for players.”
