Interesting! FFS... I'm going to have to watch his YouTube highlights now aren't I. Ready to be hurt again.

And makes Tav's rationale more understandable, he's had his injury struggles before.

Haha I was thinking the same when I seen the youtube highlight link... I'm not watching that getting excited about a signing that wont happen again! However after that 'story', I'm going to watch it now and invest in the emotional rollercoaster.

We finished 7th last season with no left side, a liability in goal and 3 poor loan forwards. We’ve upgraded the first two and surely those forwards are no worse than last seasons. Yet we wouldn’t even be in contention to rise one place up the league? We also had Warnock waste a chunk of last season.

Fully agree with this, although we need to make sure the quality is good enough not just to rise 1 place but to then actually go on and win the next 3 games for it to be meaningful, otherwise we fizzle out with a lackluster attempt like under Pulis. I think we have done that also for the first 2 and all these latest's forward links give me confidence that we are looking at the right people to make it a big step up in quality and/or potential from last season.

I’ve tried to make this point (badly) the other day. No one seems to listen as they’re all mourning Tav’s departure.
    let’s see this weekend!

Do we think though that Tav could have had a better season this year attacking wise now that he wouldn't have had to cover that space ? So I can see both IMO, yes he might not be as missed as people are thinking but his potential could have been even better... Who knows. We certainly won't find that out if they do play him LWB instead.

If he does go there must be no negotiation on price. We should say this is what he'll go for, not a penny less. We have no need to sell, unlike with Spence, so we need to make our position clear.

Unless Tav is actually pushing strongly for a move.... Don't believe so but reduces options. I do agree with your last post though, if things were close then I don't think Tav would have featured as much yesterday.

I also didn't really read into his post match interview the way others have, don't really think he was that wound up and don't really think he made any intimations of any potential leavers. He just said a few times, happy Spence has been complete and now they all are aligned to focus on the reinforcements needed to compliment this strong team that he suggested would do ok this season but we want more than ok.

  5. We could probably discuss the good & bad points of this deal for weeks but the truth is we will never know what we managed to leverage, and what Spurs held firm on. Even the point Gibson might have wanted a higher 1st installment so we have more funds available now... who knows.

I could understand the extra scrutiny if this was a deal on a prize asset, Tav/Fry for example but it's not..... It's good the business is nearly done, its good we have made a massive profit, it's good that we have shipped a player out that doesn't weaken our team from last season so lets be more optimistic than pessimistic on this one.

I think I'll be sticking to my usual theme and buying a training top instead of a game shirt.

    This looks great.

Tbf all the training range looks great/better!

  7. I can’t remember when we have been this ‘lucky’ with a player sale. As others have said big money for a player that hasn’t been in our plans for all of last season and I’m sure he went to Forest on deadline day last minute which could be why they never negotiated a loan to buy agreement at a much lower price!
Also not forgetting that we were able to pull more revenue in January by loosely threatening to recall him.
it really is mad luck how much we have made from this player in the last 12 months and could even get better if he pushes on at Spurs.

  8. I’m equally as gutted with this and past failings point in the direction of our club to blame but I don’t think we can 100% say it just yet until possibly Warnock speaks next. Reading Everton forum they are adamant it will likely have something to do with him or the club rather than us.... They equally hammering him for always appearing to have the right face on social media.
Think personally I’ll hang fire before being annoyed with MFC on this transfer.
Before this morning I honestly thought under the current climate and the speeches Gibson has been making regarding the bailout, our business hadn’t been too bad with possibly only 1 or 2 short for a playoff push which is much closer than what I was thinking at the end of last season.
