At some point, we have to stop solving our problems (or thinking we can solve our problems) by bringing in a bunch of new players. I'm disappointed that we didn't bring in another wide player, but we've kept a solid core group together and addressed our right and left back situations. Bring on the Bees!

The only problem with all of this is that it is causing me to get sweet FA done today (and probably for the rest of the week).

I agree...I think it will get easier as the season progresses because it's a tough season, and Luton will presumably have injuries. Getting them first game was tough. They have tons of momentum and self-belief on the back of two great seasons. Overall, I'm happy with that point. That was not an easy first game.

One other random thought: If I was a player linked with Boro and I watched last night's game, I think I'd be more likely to come. Clearly we aren't the finished article, but there were lots of positives, and we played our part in an exciting match.

I haven't posted much since I joined the forum (a year or two ago), but I love reading these threads. Thanks to all who provide ITK snippets of information. I think we are a few players away from being a decent side. Howson did well in yesterday's game, but it would be nice to have a true right back (although the Charlton lad is also a converted midfielder I think). I love the new philosophy of us buying younger, cheaper players who want to play for us, and I'm hoping it pays off.

I enjoyed the game yesterday. What pleased me the most was how we continued to attack after we went 3-2 up. Playing Luton away in their first game was a potential banana skin, but I thought we handled it fairly well and had the better of the game. Biggest difference from last year: I actually watched the whole thing. Last year, I'd often switch off if we went a goal down because we just didn't look like scoring. UTB!!!!

Love it although I was expecting a bitter thread started by an angry Leeds fan.

Boro v Bolton (A) 3-0 (Britt (2) Johnson)

Just saw the goals on twitter. Adama looked unplayable. Now, can he keep his place? Last year, when I was able to watch every Boro game because the were in the prem, he had a great couple of games and everyone was raving about him. Karanka gushed about his talent and then dropped him. I'm hoping that the Adama / Britt link up is the start of something special. -

It's one game. Neither side looked great. A 0-0 draw would have been a fairer result, but that's football. Let's give it a little longer before the forum melts down. UTB! -

That's exactly how I felt. They scored their one chance, and we were comfortable at the back for most of the game. We had a few good moments up near their goal, but either Ruddy made a huge save, or the ball bounced unkindly for us. -
