  1. It's been probably said already but that was a Brereton-Diaz situation waiting to happen right there. We'd have got nought for him next year and zero guarantee of promotion even if he stayed. Best to get the cash now and try to unearth/grow another diamond from the rough. All the best to Chuba, really hope he is a success in France.
  2. Its still crazy money though!
  3. But we as football fans will always know more than those amatures in football management. Sometimes though, you do wonder what is seen different in training versus us tv/match watchers. As a people manager (in a non-football industry) though, sometimes it really does come as a shock when someone who you think is poor (performance wise, or attitude) is seen as a really popular and performant guy by other individual contributors in your team. Sometimes it can be down to misplaced trust though. It's probably something similar with football.
  4. That was poor. Rogers was anonymous. Crooks is an impact sub, not whatever he was asked to do there. Put Forss up front, Riley 10, silvera left and Jones right. The rest will sort itself out. Worrying amount of possession given away but I think that will get better with match practice. Defensively we were bad though, similar to matches last season.
  5. Have to agree with this so much. The brighton game was electric. Tonight was a damp squib. After 5-10 mins the crowd vanished bar the odd patch. On TV coventry controlled the crowd game. Very disappointing tbh.
  6. I would 100% bring back Steffen on loan or permanent. I don't want a stay-between-the-sticks shot stopper. He is a great fit for the way we play and better ball playing defenders will only see that benefit go further. Smith has been good for us but nearly every screw up with passing out the back that I can remember this season has been either him or paddy involved and just not reading the ball properly. I think we can upgrade Smith at least. Would love if we got Ramsey and Archer for a full season but I doubt Archer will come back. He's probably up for sale. Ramsey may well do. I think G
  7. 😪 Either of those sides are looking at a 20th placed finish at best!
  8. Lads, it's time to hit the top shelf
  9. *** me that was so disappointing. I felt it in my waters. Coventry didnt create much but they created clear cut chances... because we let them. It was the classic possession vs counter attack game. Dark arts on show everywhere. Diego Simeone would have been proud of that. I hold no grudges against Coventry, they had a game plan to nullify us and it worked. It was on us to break them down and we lacked the fluidity and incisiveness of Feb/March to be able to do that. If Ramsey was there and Howson too, that was a different game. McNair is an easy target sometimes but did very well in Frys
  10. Apart from that horrific backpass we're playing well
  11. @Blanco your neck of the woods I think? @Neverbefore I'm disappointed in you 🤣
  12. Amazingly jealous of all who can be there tonight. Give it socks lads (and ladies).
  13. This is not going well. Just such sloppy play all game, giving it away in bad areas. Simple and ambitious passes not connecting. Their goal was horrible.
  14. What about Brewster? 25mil or so, 10 goals on loan in the championship. Lots of other examples.
  15. young english striker, exciting and pacy, goal record on previous loans. Probably 20-30m given the mad money out there. You could even see 35m with addons. Similarly Ramsey would probably be up to 20m. Have you seen the prices PL teams are paying? When everyone has money, it loses any value.
  16. It's weird, normally if we lose it has me in a terrible mood. However after this defeat I'm not feeling distraught. There were a lot of positives yesterday. Weirdly (and it is very weird) I think the game most resembling that feeling is the Luton game that finished 3-3 under Woodgate - a feeling of it not being quite right (everyone expected a walk in the park) but a feeling of hope based on how we played. Spoiler alert, that didnt work out so well.
  17. Seeing it and doing it are luckily two completely different things. WBA defended extremely well but we also had a huge amount of possession in the attacking third. Any one of those cutbacks or balls into the box could have resulted in a goal if it had bounced differently. Also WBA were able to play the way they did because they got the 2 early goals.
  18. We absolutely did. We went backwards to go forwards. Balls down the left to Gyles who created some reasonable opportunities. Balls worked in nice triangles down the right, playing in either Forss or Riley for cutbacks in the box. Again good penetration there. About the only type of chance creation we didnt see was the ball through the middle, and no breaking runners (WBA were very deep). Nothing really went our way in the box though but there were plenty of half chances created that didnt lead to attempts on goal.
