  1. Deadwood is a harsh term but I'll take it to mean players who I don't ever see being part of a promotion-winning side. For me, that's: Greenwood, Barlaser, Hoppe, Silvera, Coburn, Glover, Dijsksteel, Gilbert, Thomas We then have a large-ish group of players who can all be very good on their day but have at least one major issue hanging over them, whether that's getting on in age, lack of consistency, or recurrent injury problems: Howson, O'Brien, Smith, Ayling, McNair, Fry, Lenihan, Clarke, Engel, Bangura, Forss, Latte Lath, Jones, Azaz... There's potential in there, but let's be real, no
  2. Last time there must have been Premier League when we lost 1-0? I remember going and it was beyond dire. Don't think we had a shot on target. Somehow I think there'll be more goals in this one.
  3. Are right wingers overreacting? Probably. Unfortunately, given the current 'culture wars' climate, changing the flag was always going to come across as deliberately provocative and needlessly divisive. Many on the left are clearly reveling in the fact their political opponents are annoyed... Which suggests to me Nike, a very 'woke' brand, knew what they were doing. Is changing the flag a political statement to do with LGBT? Nike says no, it's 'playful' and meant to 'unite and inspire'... But everyone is supposed to be united and equal under a country's flag to begin with. If you really h
  4. Greenwood would probably be fine as a squad player at that price, I'd be concerned if we were viewing him as a first XI starter going into next season though. There's been a few games where he's looked bang up for it (like Sunderland) and he's at least chipped in with a few goals. I know the free kick is currently a one-off, but nobody else in the squad is scoring that. It's one less player to integrate over the Summer too. I'd rather have him in next season's squad than Silvera who's looked out of his depth most of the time in my opinion - probably needs a loan to League 1 or 2 and eve
  5. FFS... This season is genuinely cursed, I'm very over it now.
  6. Pretty damning that he hasn't been able to nail down a place during one of the worst injury crises I've ever seen at the club - plus Rogers being sold.
  7. I'll be dusting off my trusty knock-off Euro 96 Gazza shirt
  8. And they'll be in the same mess as us in the summer if they don't go up. All loans, aren't they? I hope we get the balance of loans right this summer. You could argue we were over-reliant last season - but we were also two games from promotion. I think a couple of quality PL loans are what's missing from the side this year. We've loaned the likes of Greenwood and Thomas who can't get into the squads of teams we supposedly want to be competing with. Hopefully we get a couple in of Giles/Archer quality ready to play every week in the first XI along with searching for rough gems i
  9. What's the formation if its 4231? Lath or Forss as a 10? Could even be a 433... that would be exciting and a surprise for everyone!
  10. Ayling played RCB against Chelsea with Jones wing back didn't he...?
  11. Hopefully a minor issue... Would be typical of this season to get one key player injured right when another returns.
  12. I'd happily pass on Greenwood and roll the dice on someone else. We're not going to miss a player who can't hold down a place in this shambles of a season with a million injuries.
  13. I think he's done pretty well, all considered. Seven league goals and a couple in the cup isn't bad considering he's been injured or benched for at least 50% of the season. His overall game seems to be improving too, definitely seems a bit calmer and less desperate. He's had a new team, new country, and new language to adapt to. Was chucked into an incredibly inconsistent team with some big boots to fill from outgoing players. It's not like he could slot into a well-oiled machine as the missing piece - let's be honest, the season has been a disaster for the most part. I reckon he'
  14. We've not got the easiest run in either. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and play-off chasing Hull left to play. Cardiff in really good form too. We'd have to beat several good sides as well as not cocking up against the worse ones like Sheff Wed, which we're highly prone to doing. Not happening for me, but tbh I've felt that way since the opening run of games. I just want us to go into the transfer window with some momentum, a fit squad, and everyone feeling positive about next season going much better than this one. This will help with contract renewals and signings too.
  15. I was thinking what a crazy sliding doors that (now rescinded I believe) red card could end up being for Carrick. Norwich were already one up and let's be honest, looked certain to add to their tally sooner rather than later. Imagine if we'd lost heavily then turned up to QPR totally bereft of confidence with the fans on the team's back? Ref keeps his card in his pocket and we're possibly going into the international break with a new manager.
  16. He looked knackered. Was a bit weird from Carrick tbh, no idea why he didn't eat up a few minutes of that added time by subbing Lath for Silvera or Jones.
  17. Carricks game management is poor sometimes. Make a sub to waste some time. Lath can barely move - put Jones up top.
  18. Getting a bit sloppy and letting them grow into the game.
  19. We look so much more relaxed after a couple of wins. Pressure off, I guess. Could do with a second as they'll surely be fired up with an equaliser.
  20. Very happy with that. QPR are a better side than their current league position suggests. Hopefully we can have a positive back end of the season now.
  21. Need to be so much sharper today or we're going a couple down in the first half.
  22. That QPR game earlier in the season was an infuriating watch.
  23. I see them as such different players so it's weird for them to be competing for a position imo.
