  1. Never in a million years did I see him going up against two physical centre backs, in a team who is not adverse to knocking it more direct and him holding his own. He got in front of his marker and used his strength and held it up. I always knew he had goals in him. That was not in question but I never thought he had it in him to put in that type of performance. Hold my hands up, eat that humble pie and admit I was very very wrong about his ability to play up front on his own in a Pulis team. Fantastic performance Paddy.
  2. All of those players apart from Rhodes, Nugent and Fredericks would challenge strongly for a starting place in our team.
  3. I disagree. The issues I have with him relate to the previous two seasons. I stand by everything I posted just now. Feel free to pick out points you disagree with and give me some reasons behind why you disagree. I am certainly open to the idea of changing my mind.
  4. :D :D :D I enjoyed reading that. Good points made from most. A bit of dummy spitting by a few who can't seem to grasp the notion that others have different opinions to them. I will happiuly clarify my main points. Steve Gibson has not bankrolled this club as much as people claim. A lot of the money he pumps into the club is written off by Bulkhaul. Accountants are very creative you know! Granted he will have still invested a substantial amount of money when we were floundering in the Championship due to the poor decisions HE made. However, the figure won't be anywhere near the amounts bein
  5. Haha apologies, I have been away working. Just arrived home an hour ago, quick shower, breakfast and then minibus to Sunderland at 10.30. Seems to have sparked a good debate so I will have a look over the next day or two. UTB
  6. I am open to discuss the error of my ppinions. Can you highlight what you do not agree with about my opinion of Gibson? Would love to be exposed as a bedwetting drama queen!
  7. Tis the truth, however hard it is for me to write these words, Steve Gibson needs to get his act together or clear off.
  8. I have touched in this numerous times and this is not by any means a knee-jerk reaction resulting from losing against a very good and well organised Cardiff City side. The facts are that our chairman charges the supporters one of the most expensive tickets in the league. He claims to be one of the fans, one of the people, a local boy done good who is in touch with the people of Teesside. Really Steve? You have banked millions from the fortunes of this football club. Granted, you have brought brief spells of exciting times but since you took control in 1994? the vast majority of seasons supp
  9. Its long overdue. I am going for 5-1 with Britt or Rudy bagging the opener depending on who starts. £2 on it at around 400-1. It will be interesting to see if we get to see Besic in the side today. His added pace, strength and mobility may allow us to push more players forward safe in the knowledge that he is there to stop counter attacks. In my opinion we have been crying out for a player like him for quite some time. The lack of mobility in the middle of the park has restricted us going forward with real intent.
  10. It would take too long to list them all. Don't even get me started on smaller sized clubs! I'm sure I read a post earlier containing a message suitable for this... oh yeah: Burnley, Leicester, Bournemouth, Watford, Palace, Brighton, Stoke, Huddersfield, Southampton, Swansea, West Brom, Wolves, Cardiff, Villa, Fulham, Norwich, QPR, Reading and Hull are all similar or smaller clubs that have shown more ambition than us in the past decade. Sure there will be more that I have missed out. Hope that helps you understand a little more. I started writing out a long, well re

  12. Excellent value for money. Good to hear. And can I ask how you feel about Steve Gibson’s stewardship of the club? Particularly in the last decade? Wildly ambitious. Could you illustrate similar sized clubs, with a similar sized budget that have demonstrated more ambition in the past decade, please? It would take too long to list them all. Don't even get me started on smaller sized clubs!

  14. The players that left will have been on much more than the players brought in so in fact he has saved a fortune on wages. I wouldn't say he has given it a go this season. If I was marking him on ambition this season, taking into account the £4 million net spend, it would have to be a 5/10.
  15. When I say left out, I don't mean that they are available. I simply mean that if you take the huge cash windfall we have just received it would massively outweigh the previous losses. Let me ask you this then, do you think that a little more ambition during those years would have given us a better chance of making a profit due to being a top flight club? I will offer Mike Ashley and Newcastle United as an example.
  16. Maybe if he had shown some ambition we wouldn't have run at a loss for so long. I also see that you have conveniently left out the recent £150-160M windfall we have just received. And maybe I am not understanding the "impact of player sales" table on that link but shouldn't the profit we made on players reduce the total loss instead of increase it?
  17. Gestede has to play. Britt on the bench. Bamford not even in the squad. Same formation as Tuesday night. ==============RANDOLPH================ ======================================= SHOTT====AYALA======GIBBO=======FRIEND ======================================= ==========LEADS====HOWSON============ TRAORE========================HARRISON ==============DOWNING================ ======================================= ==============GESTEDE=================
  18. Another potential money problem? We have spent £4 million!!! Its a total lack of ambition from the chairman again. Just like it has been for a decade.
  19. £50.9 million. And recouped £46.5 million. And banked all the PL money. And charges fans one of the highest ticket prices in the league if not THE highest. That's ambition is it? You're not factoring in wages or any other associated costs. They spent £5m on doing up the stadium last year. Don't you have anything better to worry about, or do you happen to have several millions in your bank account you'd like to bank roll the club with. I'm leaving this thread now. Pure. Annoying. Drivel. Good. You have contributed absolutely nothing but childish nonsense and insu
  20. I am all for being sensible and prudent. We do not want to return to the days of 85/86. That is not the issue. The issue is a) the ticket prices b) his pre-season proclamations and c) the amount of money the club has banked I will say it again. We have some of the highest tickets if not THE highest in the leage. The chairman went on record saying we wanted to smash the league at a time when renewal letters were in the post. The club banked 150-160M from last season PL campaign. All of the above are facts. I think most fans can accept us being a club that spends its time between the to
  21. I think Pulis will continue with one man up front. Bamford can not play that role. Assombolonga can not play that role. That leaves us with Gestede. What a baffling situation. Bamford played that role very effectively in his first season with us. Absolute nonsense to suggest otherwise. And as I mentioned, he played there in a team with a totally different style. Its like comparing apples and tomatoes. Pointless. He cannot play there in this team and he is useless everywhere else. Get rid and get as much money back on him as possible.
  22. Do you want to talk about the £150 million worth of debt he's wrote off or shall we just leave it there and accept you're a troll/WUM? (I'm hoping for your sake you're a troll/WUM) I cant say i agree with you unfortunately, i have to agree with Hobo on this one! (1st time for everything) The money involved at the moment is ridiculous and an ambitious chairman would be making the most of the situation, if he was serious enough about smashing the league then he would be making most of this window, instead hes recouped money because he doesnt believe we are good enough to go up. Talkin
