  1. Until some of these players are held accountable for the performances on the pitch then nothing will improve. The manager may leave and a new one will come in and the players will decide once again if they want to put the effort in. If they dont then the new manager will leave and the whole process will begin again. If people think this is an acceptable situation then its a little worrying.
  2. The players were a disgrace mate, they have been on several occasions this season. Seems to be either total blame for the manager, or total blame for the players..... they're both a load of crap and both deserve blame. Spot on. If Monk is to blame then I will give him it both barrels and have done in the past. However, not today. Too many of our supporters absolve the players for gutless performance after gutless performance. All I am saying is that a little balance is required. The players should be absolutely slaughtered by the local media, the national press and on social media b
  3. Calm down. I have criricised the manager plenty of times. I have never called our fans a disgrace. I labelled a section of our fans as having a sense of entitlement. Please deal in facts. Thanks. However, yes, some of pur players were a disgrace today and I stand by that. Effort is the absolute minimum they should give. Unforgiveable.
  4. If the players need motivating to give 100% then they should be ashamed of themselves. I watched that game today and that 1st half had nothing to do with team selection or tactics. It was all about effort amd desire. No way can the manager take the majorotu of blame for that today. No way in the world. 9 of those players were an absolute disgrace and I do not use that term lightly.
  5. Surely the minimum requirement is 100% effort? The players have no excuses for that 1st half showing. Forget tactics, thats all about desire. Leadbitter and Downing the only two who got anywhere near the level required amd both of them were trying to get the rest going.
  6. Assign a percentage of blame for todays performance? Monk 10% Players 90% Nothing a manager can do once the players cross the white line and proceed to shirk out of tackles and lose every single individual battle. I think the majority of fans would have gone with that team and formation today. The players have been a disgrace this season, an absolute disgrave to the club. Too many of them not fit to wear the shirt.
  7. Very true. Quite a few examples at the weekend of him instructing those around him what to do. The one that springs to mind immediately is Bamford dropping behind the ball on a free kick and wanting Leadbitter to give him it short. The free kick was 40 odd yards out and not central. Grant was having none of it and told him in no uncertain terms to get up near Britt. After all, thats Bamfords role. Should he really need Grant to tell him this? It seems such small details but when you add all these small details up it can be the difference between winning and losing. I would have Leadbitt
  8. We win more games when he is in the side. We generally put in much more committed performances as a team when he plays. Surely not a coincidence.
  9. Oh and nobody should be homeless for Christmas!! Millwall played Villa off the park away from home at the weekend. Just couldn't stick the ball in the net. Not an easy game this one.
  10. I was referring more to consistency of performance with particular emphasis on workrate and commitment. However, I can't argue with the consistency of our results in relation to the quality of opposition. Very valid point.
  11. Inconsistency. It sums up our season so far. Apart from a decent three match winning run, the performances this season have ranged from decent to average to mediocre to awful. It is safe to say that we have not played brilliantly in any game this season. However, if we could just find a level of consistency ranging from decent to good I am sure we would put a winning run together. The quality in our squad would ensure this in my opinion. These players at 80% performance level should be good enough to beat quite a few teams. The problem we have had this season is the inconsistency of our pe
  12. What formation? 4-2-3-1? Oh dear. Expect more problems in behind our full backs.
  13. I keep drumming on about reassessing the positional sense of our full backs but ONCE AGAIN this seems to be the most important concern for me today. Will Monk change it? Will he assign a specialist holding midgielder to plug the gap left by one of the full backs high up the pitch? The first option would be good, the second option a suitable compromise. But is there an even better third option? It is obvious where our weakness lies and the whole division knows it. I can assure you that Ol Bent Nose has identified it! I would go with the following team today: Randolph Christie Fry
  14. I can see your point but you don't have to read my Facebook feed! Anyway, no offence intended to anyone. I am just simply saying how I see it. I would have been good on the Catchphrase gameshow!
  15. Hmmmm some reasonable responses, some crazy responses. I have only just joined here. If admin want to disclose my details and location I am fine with that? Maybe that would clear things up? I am certainly not some other poster and I have no idea what has happened in the past on here but I am assuming that the poster in question offended some of you? I would also like to apologise if my tone was condescending. That was not my intention. I simply write what I think. I try and be reasoned and provide arguments to back up my points, I think I have done that quite well to be honest. We will n
  16. Football is all about opinions. I am not in the habit of wasting my time winding strangers up on an internet forum. I find that idea bizzarre. I have clarified myself once already but will do so again. 1. I think a high % of our supporters feel a sense of entitlement. I commented that this never used to be the case at Ayresome Park and put forward the suggestion that The Riverside Years had spoilt them. 2. I stressed that this opinion was formed solely by what I was reading on social media, the Gazette site and FMTTM. 3. I linked entitlement to hysteria with the behaviour of some fans
  17. Interesting defence. Thanks for taking the time to post. However, if it is all the same to you I will continue to offer my opinions on this forum regardless of whether people agree with them or not. You are entitled to your opinion just as I am entitled to mine.
  18. Maybe we will. Maybe we won't. None of us know. All I know is that a manager should be judged over a full season.
  19. Too early to change manager. Hopefully Steve Gibson holds his nerve and gives Monk at least a full season.
  20. And there is the difference between discussion and hysteria. So many fans online right now are hysterical because we lost. 'Sack him now he is ***e" seems to be particularly popular. No reasoning behind it. No suggestion of a replacement. No suggestions for what Monk can do to improve. Basically we lost, spoilt fans become hysterical. Repeat everytime they don't get what they want. Its really rather ridiculous :-)
  21. Some snippets from FMTTM and social media..... 'Season is over' 'Sack Monk now' 'Bring back Karanka' 'Cancel Downings contract' 'Sell up Gibson' Hysteria.
  22. Calm, considered appraisal of the major flaw in the tactical side of our game. No calls for Gibson to sell. No calls for Monk to be sacked. No calls for players to be driven from the club. If you cannot see the difference then I really cant help you. Sorry. However, I think certain posters on here took my comments to heart the other day and are now looking to strike back. That's fine. Fire away! It really won't bother me :-)
  23. Where am I suggesting that? I think he may struggle tp recover from these past two games. Would I sack him? No. End of season at very least.
  24. This manager does not learn from his mistakes. I am an ordinary fan. It is so bloody obvious to me so what on earth are the manager and coaching team looking at? Can anyone explain why we are basically playing with two at the back? The centre backs being dragged out to the wings by mobile forwards. One ball into a channel beats our entire defence. Full backs nowhere to be seen. If Monk and Beattie cannot identify this then they need to find different jobs because this is as basic as it gets. This has been happening for almost 20 games now. It is absolutely farcical how poor Monk and Beat
