Utter shambles so far. Can’t understand why McGree isn’t playing. O’Brien and Barlaser have been very poor. Difficult to find any positives at all. Aziz a glimmer of hope but we have been truly shocking
Mcgree , Thomas and Howson for O’Brien , Barlaser and Engel . Would like to see the change straight away as well.

Hoping for a win today . Players should be fresh as only had the 1 game in the last 18 days and with McGree back we should be more balanced up top.
For all the comments about being caught offside/missing chances I thought Greenwood had a good game last week with his energy and harrying so think he will start up front and Forss out wide. In midfield we need to see Hackney in his proper position and suspect it will be Howson alongside him.
Going for a 3-1 win and closing the playoff gap

Agree with all the positive comments. Whether fully fit or not he always gave of his best. The link up play with Izzy was a feature of him at his best and he scored plenty of valuable winning goals for us.
I would hope he gets a chance to say goodbye to the fans and that he gets the send off he deserves

I am presuming you were present last night....
Interestingly and not trying to cause an argument or be little you but what were your thoughts on last night's meeting?
Bit of a shlep from France so I gave it a miss. My point was that you seem to be the only one with the “Carrick’s gone” from the meeting.
Not interested in an argument either so happy to leave it there.

I'm not judging him on past few windows though
I am judging him on what he's done to the club financially since the Uefa Cup final and how it's impacted us fans...
I couldn't care if Mike Ashley ran the club...If he had his constantly in debt over a 20year period then it shows the club has been ran ridiculously poor
I think your last sentence loses you any argument over Gibson!!
He is far from perfect but the reason we are fighting at the top end of the championship and not down with the likes of Pompey et al is in large part because of him
As for losing Carrick yours seems to be the only view from the PR event that he is on the verge of leaving.
We absolutely need to look at this as the new project . We probably won’t make the playoffs but then again we might. If we do we likely won’t win them but then again we might. With Gibson/Scott/Carrick in charge you at least feel that the adults are in the room.

Good lad Crooksy and a decent move by the club to let him leave for what should be a great adventure for him and his family.

The player is currently injured, and played for 15 mins. Use a bit of common sense perhaps, you're allowed to occasionally.
Totally agree on this one.
Coburn clearly needs either time to recuperate or an op (or both) but is still turning out. We have had plenty of players in the past who would have hidden with his injury, so let’s give the lad credit.

If Forss and Greenwood stay on, we're playing with 9 fit men and 2 limping injuries.
Wasn’t questioning the substitutions. My point was around their effectiveness.

Gutted. If Forss and Greenwood stay on we win. Greenwood was excellent and ran himself into the ground. Probably best game in the shirt.
We always looked like we needed a second though and you have to say their keeper didn’t have a shot to save!
least said about their goal the better.
definitely 2 points list today

Nice and easy introduction for Rogers in the second half. Let’s get started on those add-ons

Not the best window but not the worst. I am sure they were trying for a CF but at the end of the day it has to be the right one. Realistically we have LL/coburn/Forss for that so if they are fit that will do. Behind them McGree/Azaz/Jones/greenwood/Silvera is ok. Midfield is fine and we have plenty in defence now.
still hoping for a 5 or 6th finish but agree the top 4 are miles ahead so chances of going up are super slim.

Probably better than our existing lot!
Yes because Rogers , VDB and Greenwood have been disasters of course.

Gonna be some unhappy campers on here come May that they can’t get playoff tickets despite being perfectly happy to write the season off at the beginning of February!
Key now is getting (keeping) LL and Coburn fit with Forss as back up . Window is closed and other than Hull who of our playoff challengers has done better than us . Azaz , Thomas and Ayling make us a better team. With McGree back and us having the past 10 days or so to reenergise the likes of Hackney I prefer to see the last part of the season as an opportunity rather than the damp squib some seem to relish

They beat us even more comfortably when we had a fully fit team at the start of the season.
Fairly pointless comment as everyone did.
clearly my opinion doesn’t sit with most but I am happy to double down. 5th or 6th still within our reach

I doubt we finish above Coventry. They're a very well run team absolutely flying
Disagree - we have had horrendous injuries and are 2 points behind them. Utterly convinced we will finish above them with a fit squad.

In fairness, Coventry have beaten us twice this season, and we couldn't beat them in four attempts last season.
Most recent game we had half a team out and those left were out of gas.
we will finish above both teams if ( I know it’s a big if) we can keep players fit until the end of the season.

Hull have gone all in and its basically *** or bust for them but would you swap our squad ( when the likes of LL and McGree are back) for the likes of Sunderland and Cov - bloody sure I wouldn’t

Why oh why do I bother with the deadline day forum . Broken hopes and WUMs aplenty.
Depressing

Bilongo going to Ebbsfleet, a surefire sign we're bringing in a striker!
Best post of the day so far

I am a little surprised prem teams aren’t begging us to take their players.
look at the enhanced values MC and his team have achieved so far ..
Archer, Ramsey , Akpom and now Rogers 😊
I know Akpom was already ours but he was never £12m before Carrick and arguably isn’t now

All 3 signings are replacing players that are already out of the available squad though.
Thomas has replaced Bangura.
Ayling has replaced Smith.
Azaz has replaced Rogers.
Except for with Ayling, it's arguable whether we're any stronger than we were before the window opened.
Bangura's injury was mid-way through it, and we'll have to see with Azaz (though he's a signing I was very pleased with).
My glass is always half full though
I have high hopes for Luke Thomas and think that whilst Rogers was a very good player we have McGree and Azaz in his position so are ok there
Ayling is a proper RB as well which we desperately needed.
Respect all opinions though but that’s just my take on it

At the end of the day we’re all football fans not businessmen or accountants for the football club, we only really care about what we see on the pitch.
A LOT of us will be very disappointed to sell one of our best players and not bring anyone in and I think that disappointed would be justified personally.
Agree to an extent but then as fans we always conveniently forget the signings we have made before the last day. So far it’s 3 first teamers in and 1 out.
Dont get me wrong I will be glued to the news all day praying for a miracle signing like everyone else though.

Boro v Bristol City 1-2 (Silvera)
in Match Day Threads 2023/24 Season

Never saw the second half as my internet went down but that first half was a shocker. Surprised it took to nearly 70 minutes to make changes.
Season almost done now. Need to win at Preston to have any hope I think , but realistically that looks unlikely
