I guess you're that bloke that keeps leaning over to your mate saying "I don't get it" when the whole room is in uproar, tears streaming down faces, and everyone chortling with laughter? Don't take things so literally, it's self deprecating humour.
Irony : "the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect"
You have read their posts haven’t you!

Might be out of our range but would anyone take Jessie Lingard to the end of the season.

Worst. Window. Ever.
Again.
Jesus man. Between you and PG I don’t know who is the more depressing. Do you get no joy from the Boro at all
3players in (all starters) and 1 out ….. so far. You do know the window shuts tomorrow not yesterday

I just don’t get the “seasons over” vibes . It’s as plain as day that we need a CF but the club know that and will be working on it.
Even if we don’t manage to get one now I still think that with a relatively fit squad , assuming the likes of McGree and LL are back we are a match for anyone in this league so the playoffs remain a possibility.
If we don’t get a CF not sure I see the point in letting Rogers go before the summer though.

What team would buy Dael Fry? No Premier League team is going to want him. He'd get murdered week in week out in the top flight.
Then in the Championship who would spend the £3m-£4m we'd want for him? When you can get better deals and players elsewhere.
We should have cashed in on him in 2016/2017 when there was interest in him.
Football's changed so much in the last few years and players like Fry aren't sought after anymore.
Peoples opinions of him are rose tinted because he's a local lad. Don't get me wrong, I'd love him to be a great player but he just isn't.
That’ll be the same Fry who was immense in the first Chelsea game. If we were lucky enough to get up exactly the type of defender we would need

I think everyone saying Rogers isn’t Akpom should remember that Akpom was rubbish until he became Choo Choo Chuba and by that time he was 28. Rogers is still a boy and last night showed his potential to compete at a higher level.
Hope we keep him until the end of next season but for his sake he has to play the left / 10 every game.

Last word from me - football is such small margins - if Rogers puts his first chance away it’s a different game. If Chelsea didn’t have best part of a billion on the pitch it’s a different game. If we didn’t gift them goals they might have got nervous.
The players will learn from that. Carrick will learn from that and if we ever get back to the premiership we will be better equipped to deal with it.

And do what exactly?
Exactly- Chelsea team about a billion. Ours less than £10m
gulf in class obvious but the knee jerk stuff is ridiculous . Think I will go to bed now to avoid this type of stuff

Crooks is limited but to read some of this stuff you would think it was all his fault we are getting wupped

That’s what I was thinking, why take him off and leave bloody crooks on.
Because he is just back from an injury. What on earth is the point in risking him when the game is lost.

Getting taken apart by the billionaires and gifted them the last 2. No disgrace but their midfield alone cost half a billion .
not worth risking players we need in champo so I would take off Hackney , Forss and Howson and play the kids. Coburn and O’Brien should stay on the bench too.

Let’s not start the “ He ain’t that good anyway “ narrative.
Rogers has ,with VDB , been our biggest transfer success of the summer. He has of course struggled when played up front because he isn’t a CF but coming from deeper or out wide he is improving game on game. Is he worth £10m+ now , probably not , but you can see that he has massive potential so we are within our rights to ask for that sort of money
The model is to sell so if we accept that Hackney , VDB and Rogers are our current jewels then you have to think he will be off if Villa get anywhere near our £15m valuation .

Why this love for Duran? He’s not exactly a goal machine or even close to it.

Saw something that said initial bid c£5m which feels too low. I agree Rogers looks like one who will come good and be worth a lot more in the future. Ultimately though Villa have the money and Morgan is a midlander so it could well happen.
Anything c£10m and Duran on loan would be everything our current model is about.
I think it is obvious the boy has potential but only if played in his correct position driving from deep. Not overly concerned he has been inconsistent but I definitely see his development to date.

Never a 3-1 game but we take that and move on.
Ayling MotM for me. If he can stay fit he nails down that spot for the rest of the season.
Azaz looked busy and will benefit from the game. Greenwood gave everything and was excellent in the first goal.
great to see Forss back and that was a proper CF finish.
Glover looked assured again
VDB had as poor a game I recall seeing from him but we have to remember he is a kid and Millwall pressed us all game
Jones really is an enigma. So wasteful most of the game but took his goal well
1 point off the playoffs and with returning players we look good going into the run off. Ramsey (if that rumour was true) and another CF and we would be nailed on
-
Strange game . They battered us for 30 mins but we are looking the better team now. Ayling been excellent, shame jones has been rubbish. Azaz looks like he will be a good addition and Greenwood creating with a lovely ball for the goal.
Negatives though - Rogers showing he will never be a CF (feel sorry for him as even he knows that!) . Engel rubbish until his goal. VDB poor and Jones wasteful.
on balance we are lucky to be level but things hopefully will improve in the second half. Would love to see Forss given some minutes as CF .

Ayling by far our best player so far

Weird watching the game with the Pools commentary
Bugger!!!! Millwall just scored
-
As expected really. Doesn’t make sense to risk Hackney after his injury. Great to see Forss on the bench , be interesting if we see him at any time.
Going to be a difficult game today though as Millwall in very good form. Take a draw now if one was offered.
-
Have my doubts over the Ramsey link but if true it’s surely a win win. Not worried if Carrick had a dozen attacking midfielders to choose from - that’s his job.
Also don’t want to see Greenwood go back. This is his first proper season and has been overplayed due to injuries. He has scored goals and won us points. It’s entirely likely that this will be the making of him and next season could be huge for him. For £1.5m it seems a no brainer.

I think Alex Scott is a fair benchmark. Scott is one year younger and was championship young player of the year last season. He had two years left on his contract when he moved to Bournemouth in the summer for £20m. You'd think £20-25m (since Hackney has a longer contract) would be the market valuation.
But the beauty of the situation is that we get to set the price and he can go if OUR valuation is met. I imagine it's closer to £25m but I think we have a tendency as fans to over-value our players and under-value others
I think the point here is that Scott went to Bournemouth whilst we allegedly have most of the top end clubs after Hayden. Can only help us to get top dollar as and when he moves on

Great write up Erimus74 . The Chelsea game was the first (and only) game my Dad took me to see as a kid. Willie was my favourite player for ever after that.
Lucky enough to meet him a few times and got free tickets for games when he was manager due to a family connection. A lovely man

Just missed out on Saudi. Making the right noises about just wanting to play. It’s a big if but , if he would come for a manageable sum it could be a win win.
Not going to happen of course but if all our other forward choices in the next day remain elusive it would be one to look at.
That said if we could guarantee LL and Coburn to be fit until the end of the season I could live with that , just think that is a big ask
